UP: Four policemen suspended for corruption

Bareilly (UP), April 7: Four policemen, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), were suspended on Friday after they were found involved in corruption, a senior police officer said here.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhakar Chaudhary said that SI Sachin Sharma, head constable Anil Pal, two personnel Shubham Kumar and Ankit Kumar, all posted at Izzat Nagar police station.

He said that the suspended personnel detained tempo driver Arun Kumar, Arif Khan, bus driver Ashfaq and Abdul Rauf and demanded Rs 1 lakh for their release.

He said that an inquiry was conducted by the police and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) which confirmed the complaints of corruption. “Along with suspension a departmental inquiry has also been ordered. One more complaint of SI Sachin Sharma demanding Rs 25,000 was also confirmed in the inquiry,” he said.

Shrikant Tyagi was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days

Shrikant Tyagi of Meerut who was on a run from Noida Police was detained on August 9 after a video of him abusing and assaulting a woman went viral. The police were tipped off to his whereabouts.

The Surajpur court has taken a decision to send Shrikant Tyagi to 14-day judicial custody in connection with assaulting & abusing a woman at Grand Omaxe society in Noida. He was booked under the Gangster Act.

Following his arrest, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak stated, “The UP government is working with a target of ‘zero-tolerance’ against crimes.” We will not abandon anyone who has broken the law.” “The main goal of the Yogi government is to establish law and order in the state,” he added. We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of women in the state.”

According to reports, he was constantly attempting to contact his wife and lawyer. The arrest came a day after Noida authorities bulldozed his house in the Grand Omaxe housing society in Sector 93B due to illegal construction.

Not only did the viral video make headlines, but Tyagi was also a self-proclaimed BJP leader on social media. He claimed to be a member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha’s national executive committee. However, the BJP categorically denied the allegations, and the UP government promised harsh action against him.

6 supporters of Shrikant Tyagi, who entered the Grand Omaxe society on Sunday and reportedly asked about the address of the woman who Tyagi manhandled, have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Surajpur Court as well.

Delhi&UP: The ED raids 6 places for illegal religious conversion to Islam

On Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted six raids in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in a connection with a recent allegation for forcing the conversion of poor and deaf students to Islam with funding from abroad.

The raids had been conducted at various locations in the national capital and adjoining states as confirmed by the officials. During the raids, several documents had been recovered which revealed that Mohammad Umar Gautam had conducted large scale religious conversions along with his organisations throughout India. The accused organisations had received several crores of foreign funding for the sole purpose of these illegal conversions.

The UP police’s ATS had arrested Umar Gautam earlier, who ran the Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC) outfit along with this associate Mufti Qazi Jahangir Alam Qasmi, both of them were residents of Jamia Nagar in Delhi. The police also claimed that the IDC had received funds from Pakistan’s inter services intelligence (ISI) along with other foreign agencies to carry out these religious conversions.

On Saturday, the ED officials had searched these locations in Delhi as well as the office of IDC and the residences of Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi and all the places were in the Jamia Nagar of Delhi. Whereas in UP, the offices of Al Hassan Education and Welfare Foundation and Guidance Education and Welfare Society were raided, both of which resided in Lucknow, the organisations were run by Umar Gautam and had played an instrumental role in carrying out the illegal conversions.

The UP Police’s ATS discovered these cases in the previous month, after which the ED had lodged a criminal case under the provisions of the stringent Prevention of Money Laundering Act before it launched it’s own investigation in the case.

BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari’s custody handed over to UP police

The UP police went to Punjab to grab the custody of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Mukhtar Ansari, on Tuesday, April 6. Also, the security at UP’s Banda has been beefed up. Three UP police teams have been sent to Punjab via three different routes in order to secure the custody of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in Punjab’s Ropar jail. Even in the Ropar jail, heavy securities were implied in order to abandon any chaos.

Punjab’s prison minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has said, “Ansari would not be given any special treatment. He will be handed over to the UP police and will be treated like other criminals,” as quoted by TOI.

A police contingent comprising of PAC Jawans, an ambulance with a team of doctors, pharmacists, paramedics from Banda district hospital, a GPS enabled VajraVahan, and three police jeeps have been given the responsibility to take the BSP MLA to the UP jail, as per the reports of TOI.

Mukhtar Ansari is a politician from Uttar Pradesh. He has been charged with 52 cases in the state, 18 out of them pertain to the IPC section-302. He has been lodged in Punjab’s Rupnagar jail since 2019 in connection with an extortion case.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting at his residence. He has been updated with every piece of information related to the happenings. The DGP of the state has also been called over to the residence.

Indian Army man puts his house on sale after receiving threats from local goon

Baghpat (UP): A family of an Indian Army jawan was threatened by a local goon several times. Thus the Army man’s family has decided to leave their house and shift to another place. The incident took place in the village of Baoli and the Army man’s family alleged that they have reported the incident to the police about their concerns and that they haven’t received any help and remain completely helpless.

The Baghpat police however tweeted that the matter is in court and the conspiracy was between a person and his neighbour. The man was forced to put up the sale poster and the issue of conspiracy has sought both sides to compromise in the matter.

“The above episode is from the village Baoli of police station Barot. The matter is under consideration in the Central Court between the person who put up the poster and his neighbour. In the case in question, the complainant has been compromised with his opposition”, stated the Baghdad Police in a tweet after the matter gained momentum on Twitter.

Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad booked under multiple sections of the IPC and Epidemic Diseases Act lodged in an FIR

FIR registered against Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad and 400-500 unnamed people under multiple sections of the IPC and Epidemic Diseases Act, for violation of IPC Section 144 in Hathras.

UP police alleged that the Bhim Army chief has violated the IPC section 144. The Indian Penal Code section 144 prohibits the gathering of five or more persons, holding of public meetings, and carrying of firearms and can be invoked for up to two months. It also gives the magistracy the power to issue order absolute at once in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger.

After the visit of Congress leader Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, many other political parties including the Samajwadi Party, CPI(M), and TMC visited the victim’s village. UP police alleged that these political party members gathered in large numbers violating IPC section 144 and Epidemic Diseases Act.

Scores of police had been deployed at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border in Noida on Saturday, prior to a scheduled visit of Congress leaders’ that planned to meet the family of a 19-year-old woman in Hathras who died after a gangrape. Barricades were installed at the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway and scores of policemen, including senior officers, were present at 12.30 pm and alongside CrPC section 144 remained imposed in UP’s Gautam Buddh Nagar.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with several party leaders and workers were mishandled and stopped by the UP police in Greater Noida and were sent back to Delhi, after they tried to reach Hathras to meet the victim’s family.

According to officials, they were booked in multiple cases for allegedly violating restrictions in UP imposed under the CrPC section 144 in view of COVID-19 outbreak and under the Epidemic Diseases Act.

According to Congress, the woman and her family have been denied justice and ”severely traumatised” by the inaction of the BJP government and its attempt to hide the truth of the heinous crime inflicted on her.

Hathras Gang-Rape Case: Rahul Gandhi makes another attempt to meet the Hathras victim’s family warning the Government of UP saying, “Nothing in the world can stop me from meeting this unhappy family of Hathras and sharing their pain.” Rahul responded to an allegation made by Union Minister Smriti Irani this afternoon. She attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi through words saying, “People are aware of Congress’s tactics… That’s why they ensured a historic win for the BJP in 2019 elections.”

Union Minister Smriti Irani alleged Rahul Gandhi and Congress for politicizing the issue. She alleged that Rahul is not working for the Justice to the victim, but he is playing his politics. “I cannot stop a leader in a democratic nation, but people understand that their visit to Hathras is for their politics and not for justice to the victim,” she said.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were going towards Hathras to meet the victim woman’s family on Thursday. UP police blocked their way on the Yamuna Expressway, reasoning that they are violating IPC section 144. Eventually, Rahul was arrested, and thus he failed to meet the victim’s family.

Now Rahul Gandhi will make his second attempt in three days to visit Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras amid outrage over the alleged gang rape and murder of a 20-year-old woman.

UP: Illegally detained 19 year old dies in police custody, family alleges torture

A 19-year-old SC man, Mohit illegally detained by the UP police died in custody on Sunday. He was detained along with his brother Sonu, over alleged connections to a motorcycle theft gang in Rae Bareilly on Friday.

Mohit and four other people were illegally detained for more than 24 hours by the police and Sonu alleged that Mohit was tortured in custody.”They picked up me and my brother. They kept on asking him where are the keys. The thrashed Mohit very badly in the police station,” said Sonu, who was later let off. Locals protested after news about Mohit’s death broke which led to the suspension of the station in charge.

The police has however denied the claims of torture and said that he was taken to the hospital after he fell ill and died there, after showing symptoms similar to COVID-19. “Prima facie we have found that the accused were kept in illegal detention in the police station for over 24 hours and we have suspended the police station in-charge because they should not have detained the accused illegally for over two days,” a senior police official said admitting the illegal detention.

Further investigation is underway after the family registered a complaint against two of the policemen involved.

The police had to fire back in self-defence,” the Kanpur police said in a statement.
