The path for the White Wolf is officially coming to an end. Following the debut of Season 4 in October 2025, which introduced Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia, Netflix is wasting no time. To minimize gaps and keep the massive production moving, Seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back.

As of May 2026, the fifth and final season is deep in post-production, preparing to close out the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s epic dark fantasy saga.

The Witcher Season 5: Release Window

Historically, fans of The Witcher have had to white-knuckle a standard two-year wait between seasons. However, Netflix broke tradition in January 2026 by publishing its “Ultimate Guide to What’s Coming in 2026,” officially confirming the final season’s timeline.

Current Phase: Post-production (visual effects rendering, ADR, and score composition).

The Logic: Because filming wrapped in September 2025, the extensive CGI pipeline requires roughly a year. While a late summer drop is technically possible, industry insiders heavily point toward a December 2026 holiday release, mirroring the highly successful rollout strategy used for Seasons 1 and 2.

Neil Stuke as Dominik Houvenaghel: Stuke reportedly plays Bonhart’s brutal crime-boss cousin who runs the dark arena fighting pits.
Sam Pamphilon & Yinka Awoni: Joining the hunt as Cyprian Fripp and Zadarlik, members of the rogue gang pursuing Ciri.
Emily-Jo Young as Shani and Liv Andrusier as the young seer Condwiramurs Tilly.

The Witcher Season 5: Plot Expectations

Netflix accompanied its 2026 confirmation with the first official logline for the series finale:

“The time of the end is nigh: dark forces are aligning all across the Continent with villainous designs on Ciri. Even if Geralt and Yennefer can save their daughter and fulfill their last wish of reuniting as a family, they’ll have to face obstacles — and enemies — the likes of which they’ve never faced before.”

Based on the final books, major narrative arcs will include:

Ciri’s Darkest Hour: Season 5 will kick off in an incredibly grim place for Ciri. Following her capture by Leo Bonhart at the end of Season 4, she is handed over to Houvenaghel to fight for her life in blood-soaked arena pits before orchestrating a desperate escape.
The Ice Skating Sequence: Book purists rejoice. Casting updates for local fishermen and specific geography indicate that the iconic, brutal confrontation where Ciri uses ice skates to outmaneuver her pursuers near the mythical Tor Zireael (The Tower of the Swallow) is locked in for the final season.
The Toussaint Detour: Geralt’s “Hansa” (his core rescue group) will find a brief, deceptive sanctuary in the duchy of Toussaint. This will prompt a hilarious and dramatic reunion between Jaskier and his old flame, Duchess Anna Henrietta, while Geralt gathers strength for the final push.
Convergence at Stygga Castle: The series is expected to culminate in the apocalyptic, large-scale clashes from the end of the book saga—specifically the devastating Battle of Brenna and the final, tragic raid on Stygga Castle to permanently end Vilgefortz’s reign of terror.
