Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) is an Indian sitcom based on Taarak Mehta’s daily column “Duniya Ne Undha Chasma” in Chitralekha magazine. It is produced by Asit Kumar Modi. It premiered on July 28, 2008, aired on Sony SAB and is also available digitally on SonyLIV. The program holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running Indian daytime program by number of episodes.

Most of the cast has been involved continuously since the beginning. However, in recent years many TMKOC actors have left the show.

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who plays Mrs. Roshan Sodhi in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ has accused producer Asit Modi and two others of sexual harassment at work.

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal has accused producer Asit Modi, Project Head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj of sexual harassment in the workplace. She last appeared on the show on March 7.Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal confirmed the news to ETimes and said, “Yes, I’ve left the show. It is right that I shot my last episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on March 6 this year. I had to leave the sets as I was subjected to humiliation and insult at the hands of Mr Sohil Ramani and the other executive producer Jatin Bajaj.”

When questioned further, she detailed the entire episode, claiming that despite requesting a half-day off for her wedding anniversary and Holi (March 7), she was not given even a two-hour break. When she retaliated, Project Head Sohail Ramani harshly asked her to leave approximately four times. Her car was stopped too.

She added that the male actors were accommodated and referred to the production as a ‘very male-chauvinistic place’.

Jennifer said as well that she remained silent for so long since the show “has given her everything” and she is appreciative. She also claimed that everyone on the show is a “bonded labourer.”She further stated that Asit Modi, the producer, Asit Modi has made numerous sexual advances towards her in the past, which she has ignored out of fear of losing her job.

Actor Nitish Bhaluni has been discovered as a new Tapu for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor was introduced as the new Tapu in a video posted on the show’s official YouTube page by producer Asit Kumarr Modi.

For the third time, a performer will take on the character of Tapu. Tapu had previously been portrayed by Raj Anadkat and Bhavya Gandhi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. There were rumours that Nitish had been hired for the show last week. Previously, he was seen on the television programme Meri Doli Mere Angna.

After being a member of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for five years, Raj Anadkat left the show in December 2022. He posted a statement at the time that said, “Hello everyone, it’s time to lay all questions and speculation to rest. My association with Neela Film Productions and ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has officially ended. It has been a wonderful journey of learning, making friends, and having some of the best years of my career.”

He shared a video on Twitter and informed netizens about it with an emotional message. The most recent update came just weeks after Ghanshyam Nayak, the show’s original Nattu Kaka, died on October 3. The late actor battled cancer, and fans miss seeing him on the show. Now, his son Vikas Nayak has spoken out about Kiran Bhatt reprising his father’s role.
“I think Kiran Bhatt Ji, who has come in, will probably do good justice to the role originally played by my father,” he told in an interview.
Adding, “My father appeared in a number of Gujarati plays produced by Kiran Ji. I texted him to congratulate him on his new position. This a new element, and I haven’t seen the show for a while but I think now, I will.”
