Sahara India Pariwar’s founder and chairman, Subrata Roy, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75 in Mumbai after battling a long illness. The demise of the prominent business tycoon has triggered an outpouring of condolences and tributes from various quarters.

Suresh Raina, another former cricketer, shared his thoughts on social media, remembering Subrata Roy as a great motivator, speaker, and sports lover. Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal also paid tribute, acknowledging his support for sportspersons. “He used to be a great sports lover and supported a lot of sportspersons. Thank you, sir, for all the love and support. You will be missed.”

Patna HC issues warrant of arrest against Sahara Chief Subrata Roy

Patna, May 13: Patna High Court on Friday issued warrant of arrest against Sahara supremo Subrata Roy. After he failed to appear in person. Before the court for second consecutive day in connection with the hearing of a petition. Relating to a large number of investors demanding for the return of money. Justice Sandeep Kumar, during the hearing of a bunch of petitions. Filed seeking a directive to Sahara supremo Subrata Roy to return money to a large number of investors. Issued a warrant of arrest against Roy after he failed to appear before the court despite directed on Thursday. To be present in person on Friday at any cost.

The court directed police chiefs of three states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to ensure the presence of Roy by arresting him. Justice Kumar did not accept the medical documents presented before the court. Seeking relief from his appearance in person. Advocate of Roy submitted that Roy was suffering with serious health complications.

And he was unable to appear before the court. Justice Kumar said there was nothing serious in medical reports that Roy could not appear before the court. The court had expressed his anguish on Thursday over failure of Subrata Roy in appearing before the court and directed him to appear at any cost on Friday. The court had also remarked that Roy was not above the law and he would have to appear before the court personally.

Earlier on April 27, the lawyer of Sahara India. Complying the orders of the Judge had come forward with some alternate methods. For returning the amount of investors of Bihar. The Judge, however, was not convinced and ordered for physical appearance of Subrata Roy on May 11 to explain how he would return the money of investors of Bihar. Sahara chief could not appear on May 11 making the court furious. It may be recalled that Patna High Court was hearing more than 2000 cases. Sandeep Singh acquires rights for biopic on Subrata Roy Sahara

The director of the movie, ‘PM Narendra Modi’, Sandeep Singh, has acquired the rights for the biopic on Subrata Roy Sahara, the Chairman of Sahara India Pariwar. The filmmaker has been critically acclaimed for various other biopics like ‘Aligarh’, ‘Sarbjit’, and the national award-winning ‘Mary Kom’.

Talking about the life of the business tycoon, Sandeep said, “His story is full of surprises, and as no one has dared explore it, it is largely untold.”
Revealing few details about the journey of Subrata Roy which will be showed in the film, he said, “The story of Saharasri, as he is fondly called, is the most fascinating real story available at present. Beginning from a small town in Uttar Pradesh to becoming a founder of an organisation of 14 lakh workers working under its aegis; the second-largest in India after Indian Railways, of being one of the most influential persons with stars from sports to Bollywood to politics oscillating around him; rich in controversies and audacity; a saga of emotions, rise and resilience, it has all this and more, to be a delight for filmmakers as well as the audience.”
Explaining the hardships he had to face while getting the rights, he said, “Mr Roy has been approached by many for a biopic, but he was extremely reluctant about it. I met him several times during the course of the last year and was able to assure him that the film will not be made for mere financial gains but will be dealt with in all honesty and will be factual. Finally, we were able to get the rights and we are upbeat about the project.”
