Tata Power Renewables set a new record in Q1 FY26 with 45,589 rooftop solar installations, marking a 416% YoY growth and pushing total capacity past 3.4 GW.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, recorded its highest-ever rooftop solar growth in Q1 FY26, achieving 45,589 new installations and adding 220 MW of capacity. This marks a 416% year-on-year increase compared to Q1 FY25, when the company installed 8,838 systems.

With this milestone, TPREL’s total rooftop solar installations now exceed 2.04 lakh, pushing the company’s cumulative installed capacity beyond 3.4 gigawatts (GW). The surge further strengthens Tata Power’s leadership in India’s rooftop solar segment and supports national efforts toward decentralised renewable energy adoption.

The record-breaking additions contribute directly to the government’s Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY). TPREL is actively implementing this scheme through its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign, aimed at promoting residential rooftop solar adoption across India.

TPREL serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers, with more than 1.8 lakh installations in the residential sector alone. The company’s services are supported by a wide network of 604 channel partners and 240 authorized service providers, covering over 900 cities nationwide.

In addition to installations, TPREL is expanding its manufacturing capabilities, with a 4.3 GW solar cell and module production capacity in India. This end-to-end solar value chain—from manufacturing to rooftop deployment—positions Tata Power as a key contributor to India’s clean energy targets, including the national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Embarking on a transformative journey towards solar independence, India takes center stage in the grand symphony of progress. This isn’t merely a shift towards cleaner energy; it represents a profound commitment to redefine the narrative of the nation’s future. In this solar odyssey, the manufacturing sector plays a pivotal role, where the alchemy of industry converges with the imperative of environmental stewardship.

Set against the backdrop of an evolving global energy landscape, India’s foray into solar power stands out as a beacon of hope and vision. Manufacturers emerge as architects of change, seamlessly integrating solar panels into the fabric of progress. Beyond kilowatts and gigawatts, their unique vantage point speaks the language of responsibility, acknowledging our role as custodians of the planet.

India’s solar journey witnesses the confluence of governmental vision and entrepreneurial spirit. Policies incentivizing solar adoption, coupled with a burgeoning market, pave the way for a robust manufacturing ecosystem. This synergy forms the foundation for a solar revolution with global implications, urging the world to follow suit.

From expansive manufacturing plants resonating with innovation to polished boardrooms shaping strategies, the commitment to solar independence reverberates. This discourse isn’t confined to production quotas and market shares; it is a dialect of responsibility, recognizing the role as stewards of the environment.

The narrative of solar independence transcends the environmental domain, becoming an economic story propelling India into global leadership. The solar manufacturing sector becomes a catalyst for job creation, technological advancement, and economic resilience. It is a tale of synergy where the environment and the economy coalesce harmoniously.

In this solar tapestry, manufacturers find themselves as custodians and catalysts. Their commitment extends beyond profit margins; it is a covenant with the nation’s destiny. It is a delicate dance between progress and responsibility, where each solar panel produced becomes a stepping stone towards a greener and more self-reliant India.

The solar revolution emphasizes the importance of indigenous innovation. Nurturing capabilities in solar manufacturing secures our energy future and positions India as a leader in the global solar landscape. The ‘Make in India’ ethos materializes in the gleaming expanse of solar farms across the nation.

Moreover, the solar journey is a narrative of inclusivity, reaching beyond urban landscapes to illuminate lives in the remotest corners of rural India. Manufacturers, through their commitment to solar independence, become agents of change, bringing light to communities once shrouded in darkness. In the grand tapestry of this solar saga, India’s manufacturers emerge not just as stakeholders but as custodians of a vision.

The best thing about solar panels is that they are durable and easy to maintain. Usually, solar panels last anywhere between 20 to 25 years. And while solar panels are already designed for longer life cycles and higher efficiencies, here are a few simple tips that will help you get the best out of your solar panels and to keep them strong for years to come. Let’s see what these tips are.

1. Make Sure The Solar Panels Aren’t Corroded

Make sure you check the solar panels for corrosion due to rust, weathering and any other damages at least two times a year. In case you live by the sea, you may want to check more often. Let’s say every three months.

Even the highly rust-resistant panels are subject to rust in case the vacuumed sealed back sheet develops any cracks. Also, rust can reduce the efficiency of your solar panel system. What’s worse, if left unattended, the rust may even lead to a safety hazard. So if you see any signs of rust, weathering or any other damage to your solar panel, immediately call an expert for a checkup.

2. Check Wiring For Damages

Any damage to the wiring can cause serious electrical hazards. To avoid the same, you need to check the wirings on a regular basis. Make sure they are not damaged and are not exposed to dirt or water.

Also, solar panels can be a home to birds that may try to nest underneath them. Similarly rodents such as rats, squirrels, beavers may cause damage to the wiring. So besides the regular checkups make sure you keep an eye on the wiring for any damages whatsoever.

3. Keep Your Solar Panels Clean

If your solar panels are installed at an angle it won’t be a problem to maintain them. A bi-annual cleanup should suffice as the panels will get washed by the natural rainfall and it will take care of the dust, debris, bird drops and other pollutants. You can simply rinse the panel with a garden hose. In case there are stains that are hard to remove, you may use warm soapy water and a soft brush to clean it up.

If you have to get onto the solar panels to clean them, make sure it is safe. Also, if the weather’s hot, start early morning or late afternoon to try finishing the work during the cooler parts of the day. You may also get the expert to do the job for you while they are there for a routine check up.

4. Ensure Access To Isolator Switches Are Clear

Your isolator switch is an important part of your solar power system. Make sure you have clear access to your isolator switch as it is this switch that will help you disconnect the solar power system, in case there’s any emergency.

You would also need this switch at the time of maintenance, repairs or upgrades. To ensure that this switch is easily accessible, make sure you don’t store anything in front of this switch.

5. Get Routine System Fault Checks Done.

Do you know system faults can be life hazardous? To avoid all risks, you must keep a check on your solar inverter panel for any such indications. Your solar inverter manufacturer would have provided a handbook that explains what different indicators indicate and what if any of there’s a change in color in any of these indicators. Similarly, if you are experiencing any drop in panel efficiency or any such issue then you must get the system checked ASAP.

Want to buy a new solar panel?

Whether you want to buy a new solar panel or upgrade your existing one, you should go with a reputable brand like Luminous India. It’s a name synonymous with quality products. Also, you get to choose from a wide range of products that are available at reasonable prices.
