Bosch announces joint venture with Brakes India and Wheels India for commercial vehicle growth

Bosch Limited has announced a strategic joint venture with Brakes India Private Limited and Wheels India Limited to drive growth in air systems for commercial vehicles. The collaboration aims to unlock growth opportunities in electronically enabled air systems, leveraging shared capabilities to deliver greater value to customers.

The joint venture, which will be a 50:50 partnership between Bosch and the TSF Group companies (represented by Brakes India and Wheels India), is set to commence operations by the end of 2026, pending all necessary regulatory approvals. The initiative will focus on engineering, manufacturing, and sales of electronically controlled and software-driven modules for air compression, air processing, air suspension, and air parking brakes.

Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director of Bosch Limited, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “This joint venture is a decisive step to shape the future of advanced air systems. By integrating premier engineering and manufacturing prowess, we are co-creating state-of-the-art, intelligent modules that will empower our customers globally to build more advanced commercial vehicles.”

The joint venture will have its registered office in Chennai, managing the global supply chain, including India, through the entities of Bosch, Brakes India, and Wheels India. Sandeep Nelamangala, Joint Managing Director of Bosch Limited and President of Bosch Mobility India, emphasised the importance of this development, noting that it enhances Bosch’s overall commercial vehicle motion management portfolio and strengthens its role in software-driven mobility.

Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We bring our strengths as one of the leading suppliers of pneumatic braking systems. Through this joint venture, we will be able to offer air braking system parts for e-enabled future mobility to customers.”

Srivats Ram, Chairman and Managing Director of Wheels India, added, “We are pleased to collaborate with Bosch on this development initiative to advance electronic air suspension systems for global customers.”

The boards of Bosch Group, Bosch Limited, Brakes India Private Limited, and Wheels India Limited have already approved the transaction. This development aims to cater to the accelerating customer demands for greater efficiency, safety, and automation in the commercial vehicle industry.

The acquisition aims to enhance Bosch Limited‘s portfolio by adding the Vehicle Motion business, strengthening its position in the Indian automotive sector. The company plans to complete the acquisition through a cash deal and issuance of equity shares on a preferential basis.

This strategic move will enable Bosch Limited to expand its mobility solutions, particularly in safety and braking systems, leveraging Bosch Chassis Systems’ expertise in active and passive safety systems.
