Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav has reacted to DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran’s controversial statement regarding the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Tejashwi has condemned the statement of DMK MP. He said that labourers from Bihar and UP are in demand all over the country and if they do not go, life in other states will come to a standstill. People should understand this, but if such a statement has come, then we condemn it.”

DMK leader’s statement is condemnable: Tejashwi Yadav

Deputy CM of Bihar said that if he had said that only people of a particular caste are cleaning the drains, then there would have been a question as to why only people of one caste are cleaning the drains, but he says that the people of UP and Bihar are coming and cleaning the drains. If this kind of work is done here, it is condemnable. That’s why we all condemn it. Leaders of other states, irrespective of party, should avoid making such statements. This is a country. We the people of Bihar should respect the people of other states, and we expect the same from the people of other states. This kind of thing should not happen.

What did the DMK MP say?

DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran had given a controversial statement regarding Hindi speakers. He said that Hindi-speaking people coming to Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar do construction work or clean roads and toilets.

The video of DMK MP’s controversial comment is going viral on social media. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala had raised questions on the silence of the regional parties of UP and Bihar included in the I.N.D.I.A. alliance.

Bihar's YouTuber Manish Kashyap will be released tomorrow after getting relief from Patna High Court. Manish has been kept in Beur jail of Bihar. The legal clampdown on Manish was tightened when a video surfaced regarding violence against the people of Bihar in Tamil Nadu.

After getting relief from Patna High Court, YouTuber Manish Kashyap of Bihar will be released today, i.e. on 23rd December. Manish has been kept in Beur jail of Bihar. He is going to be released from jail after 9 months. First he had to be taken to Tamil Nadu. But, after the decision of Patna Civil Court, it was kept in Bihar only.

The legal clampdown on Manish was tightened when a video surfaced regarding violence against the people of Bihar in Tamil Nadu. The allegation was that Manish showed this video fakely on his YouTube channel. Tamil Nadu Police registered an FIR terming the video as false. Tamil Nadu government had also taken action against Manish under NSA.

Manish had surrendered after attachment and seizure

On this, Manish approached the Supreme Court to get relief. Then the Tamil Nadu government had given arguments in the Supreme Court refusing to remove the NSA. However, Manish got relief. At the same time, about 7 cases are registered against him in Bettiah district of Bihar. In this, apart from assaulting the BJP MLA and threatening to kill him, there is also an allegation of assaulting the bank manager. In this case, after the attachment and seizure, Manish had surrendered in the police station. Since then Manish was kept in jail.

6 cases were registered against Manish in TN

In the month of August this year, Patna Civil Court had given big relief to Manish. The court had ordered not to take Manish back to Tamil Nadu jail. Then lawyer Shivanandan Bharati had said that a total of 6 cases were registered against Manish in Tamil Nadu, on which he had got default bail. After the civil court’s decision, Manish did not have to go to Tamil Nadu jail. He was kept in Beur jail of Patna. His appearances were to be made during the hearing in many cases. Whereas in the cases registered in Tamil Nadu, the hearing took place through video conferencing.

Supporters were seen pleading ‘don’t cry, don’t cry’ After the decision of Patna Civil Court, Gaju’s happiness was seen among Manish’s supporters. However, when Manish came out of the court premises, he was seen crying while supporters were showering flowers. During this, Manish’s supporters were also seen pleading ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry’.

I am a soldier’s son, not a Chara Chor’s: Kashyap

At the same time, the anger of the YouTuber was also seen during his appearance in the Patna court in the month of September. In anger, Lalu had vented his anger on the family. Manish had said, “I was silent for 6 months, but now this is too much.” I am made to sit between a bald person and a drug addict. They blow on my face. I start having a headache but these people (police) do nothing.

Manish had said that one day we will form the government and show how the government is run. An attempt has been made to bend me, but I am a soldier’s son, not a fodder thief. I will not bow down before these people. This handcuff has been handed over to an honest man. My grandfather fought in the war with China, my father fought in the war with Pakistan.

Let us tell you that the Economic Offences Unit had registered 4 cases against Manish. In two of these cases, Manish Kashyap appeared in Patna Civil Court in the month of August. The first case was of making viral the fake video of beating of Bihari labourers in Tamil Nadu and the second case was of using derogatory words, the video of which had gone viral.

Rajya Sabha MPs Suspended: Due to the uproar in both the houses of Parliament, 47 MPs from Lok Sabha and 45 MPs from Rajya Sabha were suspended, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha said that this period will be remembered.

The opposition created a ruckus in both the houses on Monday (18 December) over the intrusion into Parliament security. The opposition, adamant on the demand of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to give a statement in the House on this matter, did not allow the proceedings of the House to proceed. Due to this, 47 opposition MPs from Lok Sabha and 45 MPs from Rajya Sabha were suspended from the winter session by the Speaker of both the houses.

RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha, suspended from Rajya Sabha proceedings, has expressed strong displeasure and objection to this decision.

“This is not a suspension, this is a badge of honour This is suspension, recognition that we are asking questions and an attempt is being made to cover up these questions. Today is recorded in history 92 MPs, don’t know who is advising this government…this kind of dictatorship We were only asking questions – the Home Minister should come to the House and give a statement and instead of that, suspension is taking place,” said Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha.

Suspended MP Mr @manojkjhadu :

इस तरह की… pic.twitter.com/aGwFIHWNx0

— Supriya Bhardwaj (@Supriya23bh) December 18, 2023

Taking aim at the Modi government, Manoj Jha said that this period will be remembered that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into his second term, it has become very weak. Only weak persons encourage and get such activities done through the Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday that whichever player brings a medal in Bihar will get a job. While addressing the people while participating in a program of a private school on Saturday, the Deputy Chief Minister said: “Earlier there was a saying that ‘If you study and write, you will become a Nawab… If you play and jump, you will become a bad person…’ but now this will not work. Now, it is the era of Artificial Intelligence and sports. In such a situation, there is now a need for children to leave iPhones and tabs and go to playgrounds.”

“Win medal, get job”: Teshawi Yadav

During this, he said that along with studies, sports were also important and said that the Bihar government has brought a policy that bring a medal and get a job. We have come up with a policy to promote sports in our state.

He said that we have selected 81 people associated with sports, whom we are making officials through employment. We will soon give joining letters to those people also. He also replied to those who raised questions on the degree by his opponents and said that he is the son of two CMs. If he wanted, he could have obtained the degree even by wrong means. But, it did not do so.

Apart from this, bumper recruitment is taking place in the Rural Works Department, including the Health Department.

Also, the youth of Bihar are being appointed in various fields and departments. Experts believe that Tejashwi Yadav is giving jobs as per his promise. Tejashwi Yadav had promised that after forming the government, he will provide 10 lakh jobs with the first signature. The process of restoration is going on continuously in Bihar.

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav shared his happiness after giving job to 𝟏 lakh 𝟐𝟎 thousand youths and setting a record. Yadav took to X and wrote: “Today, in one day in Bihar, more than record-breaking 𝟏 lakh 𝟐𝟎 thousand youth will get job appointment letters simultaneously in one department. This is just the beginning. In the Bihar government of the Grand Alliance, under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Minister, we are fulfilling all our promises of jobs, inclusive development along with social justice, economic justice, equality and harmony. Jai Hind! Jai Bihar! #Bihar #TejashwiYadav.”

— Tejashwi Yadav (@yadavtejashwi) November 2, 2023

Tejashwi Yadav also mocked BJP government over non-employment and slammed the government calling ‘Godi Media’, “During the elections, Godi media used to ask from where will lakhs of jobs be provided in Bihar? Where will the budget come from? Yesterday, Bihar government created a record by giving 𝟏 , 𝟐𝟎 , 𝟑𝟑𝟔 jobs in one department simultaneously in one day but not a single positive debate or news in the same Godi media,” said Yadav.

यहीं अगर हिंदू-मुस्लिम,… pic.twitter.com/Px2z53n0i6

Tejashwi also commented over the recent ED and CBI raids, “If there was Hindu-Muslim, Temple-Mosque, IT, CBI and ED, then these people would have been jumping up and down in the studio making noise. Godi media is a staunch opponent of youth, unemployed, women, students, farmers and education, scientific consciousness, peace, tranquility, mutual harmony and equality, hence in the interest of the country and society, it should be stopped from watching, listening and reading.”

Sharing the data on X, Tejaswi wrote, “There is a quick job system in Bihar. fill out the form quickly give exam from pat Join immediately. Creating a record, our government historically released applications for 𝟏, 𝟕𝟎, 𝟒𝟔𝟏 jobs within 60 days, 𝟖 lakh candidates took the exam, 𝟏, 𝟐𝟐, 𝟑𝟐𝟒 Candidates passed and 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎, 𝟑𝟑𝟔 got appointment letters.
The index has given opposition parties a new chance to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government in the Centre as India's rank has slipped from the previous year.

Global Hunger Index 2023 has claimed that India’s situation has worsened. India has been placed at 111th place in the Global Hunger Index of 125 countries globally. Moreover, the highest child wasting rate or child malnutrition has also seen in India, which is 18.7 per cent.

The index has given opposition parties a new chance to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government in the Centre as India’s rank has slipped from the previous year. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Modi Govt is allergic to any critical Global Data, but even INDIAN data says that our people are going hungry!”

Well, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has rejected this index. The government has called it an inaccurate measure of starvation. The ministry has also said that it does not reflect the actual situation in India. There are many flaws in it. Three of the four indicators used to calculate this index relate to the health of children, so they cannot definitively reflect the health of the entire population.

In response to this Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “It is another story that even the Global Hunger Index, which is scrutinised by experts is based on food balance sheets reported by us – India and is even used for UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the Modi Govt now does not accept it.”

“Modi Govt can also claim that food grains are being distributed to 80 Cr Indians – but according to experts, even that number is short of a whopping 14 Cr people, because Census 2021 is indefinitely delayed,” said Kharge.

Modi Govt is allergic to any critical Global Data, but even INDIAN data says that our people are going hungry!

Modi Govt can deny that India's rank in the Global Hunger Index slipped from 107th out of 121 countries in 2022 to 111th out of 125 countries in 2023.

But would they… pic.twitter.com/uX3K4iFZli

— Mallikarjun Kharge (@kharge) October 13, 2023

Over BJP government’s claim of launching Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) with the specific purpose of ameliorating the hardships faced by the poor and needy due to economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, Congress President Kharge said: “It was the Congress-UPA which brought in the Food Security Act, 2013 under PM Dr Manmohan Singh and Smt. Sonia Gandhi. The BJP was opposed it.”

Moreover, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav said in social media post on X, “According to the Global Hunger Index-2023 released on Thursday, India is at 111th position among 125 countries of the world. India’s score is 28.7% which puts it in a category where the situation of hunger and starvation is very serious and worrying.”

Lalu Yadav also praised the previous UPA government by saying that the India’s ranking in 2013 was better than it’s today. He said: “India was ranked 63rd in the 2013 Global Hunger Index. Due to the anti-poor policies of the BJP government, India has slipped from 63rd position to 111th position in the hunger index in 10 years.”

— Lalu Prasad Yadav (@laluprasadrjd) October 13, 2023

“Now the Modi government at the Center will habitually call the report and index false and flawed instead of understanding and accepting the report and improving its policies,” said Lalu Yadav.

Family of Prabhat Khabar journalist Gokul Yadav said that he was shot dead over Panchayat election disputes

Five criminals shot and killed journalist Gokul Yadav on Tuesday in the Simultala block of the Bihar state’s Jamui district. The journalist was on his way to the market from his house when he was shot five times in the head and chest in broad daylight.

The event allegedly occurred on Tuesday at about 11 a.m. The criminals who rode up on bikes with the intention of killing Yadav targeted 35-year-old Gokul Yadav, a journalist for the daily newspaper Prabhat Khabar. Five individuals on two motorcycles reportedly arrived to murder Yadav, who showed up on two bikes and had been keeping an eye on him, according to eyewitnesses.

Yadav was taken to the neighbourhood hospital right away after the tragedy, where doctors declared him dead. Reports make the assumption that the journalist was killed as a result of anger over the Panchayat elections while the police are still looking into the case. The wife of Gokul Yadav contested for Khuranda Panchayat in the panchayat elections, however, she lost. This caused a number of conflicts in the village. Gokul Yadav was even assaulted a few days ago as a result of the post-election animosity.

According to reports, the Simultala police station also registered a case. The deceased’s father, Narendra Yadav, and his maternal uncle, Shyamdev Yadav, have both stated that the journalist’s death was motivated by the upcoming elections.

According to Simultala SHO Vidyanand Kumar, after receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and detained two suspects in this matter. After filing the complaint, “additional action would be done on the basis of the application provided by the family.”

Nitish Kumar gets sworn in as Bihar's Chief Minister for the eighth time in a span of 22 years.

Nitish Kumar, the leader of the Janata Dal (United), took the oath to serve as the Chief Minister of Bihar once more on Wednesday, ending the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Phagu Chauhan, the governor of Bihar, also gave the oath to Tejashwi Yadav, the head of the RJD and the majority party in the Mahagathbandhan alliance, making him the state’s deputy chief minister. For the eighth time in a space of 22 years, Nitish Kumar took the oath of office as the chief minister of Bihar.

Stakeholders in the Bihar Assembly Equation Following the 2020 Elections

The National Democratic Alliance won 125 seats in the hotly contested 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, defeating the BJP by 74 votes, the Janata Dal (United) by 43, the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) by four, and the Hindustan Awaam Party by four (Secular).

With this, the NDA achieved the 122-majority requirement to form the government.

The RJD and its supporters, on the other hand, had won 110 seats. The RJD became the single-largest party with 75 members, while the Congress only managed to secure 19 seats. The Left parties competed for 29 seats, and the CPI (ML-Liberation) won 12, giving them a total of 16 victories.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM has won five seats in the Seemanchal region of the state. Four of its MLAs, though, have joined the RJD.

Ranking of the parties in the 242 member Bihar House, which is lower than the previous 243 due to the loss of one RJD MLA, is as follows: Congress (19), CPI(M-L) (12), CPI (4), AIMIM (1), BJP (77), JD(U) (45), HAM(S) (4), RJD (79), Independent (1).

Nitish Kumar’s Flip Flop

Nitish Kumar supported Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Janata Dal in 1989 as they ran to lead the opposition in the Bihar Assembly. He and George Fernandes co-founded the Samata Party in 1994. He became a member of the BJP in 1996, and in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration, he was made a minister.

In March 2000, Nitish had just been the state’s chief minister for a little over seven days. Despite taking the oath, he immediately resigned because the NDA and its allies held 151 seats. Both parties fell short of the required 163 seats since RJD had 159 MPs while they both had fewer.

The Janata Dal of Sharad Yadav and the Samata Party merged in 2003, but their alliance with the BJP maintained. In the same year, the Janata Dal (United) was established.

JD(U) regained control of the government in an alliance with the BJP in 2005 as a member of the NDA.

In order to retake control in 2010, Nitish’s party and the BJP teamed together, and he once more resumed the role of Chief Minister.

The JDU leader and the BJP cut ties in 2013 after 17 years. He later won a trust vote with Congress’ assistance, but he resigned in 2014 anyway. However, within a year Kumar was back in charge as chief minister thanks to support from the RJD and the Congress.

The state assembly elections were won by the Grand Alliance of the JD(U), Congress, and RJD in 2017. The partnership, however, fell apart in less than two years as a result of Tejashwi Yadav, a deputy chief minister, being implicated in a money laundering inquiry.

Nitish soon gained the support of the BJP and regained power after leaving the coalition and resigning as chief minister.

In 2020, Kumar took the oath to serve as the seventh chief minister of Bihar, with the support of the BJP.

Nitish Kumar submits the list to the Bihar governor and stakes a claim to form a new government with the support of 164 MLAs. Oath to be taken on Wednesday at 4 pm.

Nitish Kumar, who resigned as Bihar Chief Minister on Tuesday, said he had submitted a list of 164 MLAs to the Bihar Governor and staked his claim to form a new government.

On Tuesday, Nitish Kumar called off the JD(U)-BJP alliance in Bihar and resigned as the state’s chief minister. Nitish Kumar met with Tejashwi Yadav after resigning as CM, and they together met Governor Phagu Chauhan once again and staked claim to form a new government.

The JD(U)-RJD-led ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) will take the oath of office on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Nitish has already been elected as the leader of the Mahagathbandhan, a coalition of seven parties. The state Assembly’s effective strength is 242, and the magic figure is 122.

Former Union minister RCP Singh, who left the JD(U) after a tussle with Nitish Kumar, said the party’s split with the BJP and alliance with Tejashwi Yadav is a betrayal of the 2020 mandate.

Meanwhile, BJP Bihar called for a core group meeting, after JD(U) and RJD tied hands with each other to form the new alliance.

Kumar’s decision, which was a reversal of what happened in 2017 when he left the Mahagathbandhan to rejoin the NDA, left ally BJP out in the cold for the second time in eight years. Sanjay Jaiswal, president of the BJP’s state unit, accused Nitish Kumar of betraying the people of Bihar and the BJP on Tuesday. “We fought the 2020 polls together under NDA, the mandate was for JD-U and BJP, we won more seats despite that, Nitish Kumar was made the CM,” Jaiswal said. Whatever happened today is a betrayal of Bihar’s people and the BJP.”

Bihar | RJD MLAs & leaders arrive at the residence of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, in Patna. The party will hold a meeting at 11 am today amid reports of rifts b/w JD(U) & BJP in the state.

Mobile phones of all MLAs are being kept outside the meeting room. pic.twitter.com/DFZP54bOvp

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is grousing against the ally partner BJP. The break-up buzz grew large as the conversation chain has dried up between both the parties. Nitish is now going to hold a meeting with his party MLAs today as inference about his break-up with the BJP grows to a fever pitch. However, both the opposition parties Congress and RJD have reflected they are ready for Grand Alliance 2.0 if Nitish dumps the BJP.

Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal or RJD, head now by Tejashwi Yadav, and the Congress have also called for meetings today. Smaller parties Hindustan Awam Morcha and CPIML have also proposed unconditional support to Nitish Kumar.

However, former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday lashes out the JD(U) and dared it to take on the BJP directly instead of impeaching him of involvement in a ruse to dent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s favor. Addressing a press conference, Paswan contended the chief minister faced “greater danger from his close aides than from me” even as he contended that Kumar has insulted former JD(U) national president RCP Singh, and had formerly humiliated Sharad Yadav and George Fernandes.

Former MLA Anant Singh, who recently made it to headlines after getting disqualified as the member of legislative assembly in Bihar due to getting convicted and sentenced in a 2019 case related to spoting an AK-47 assault rifle from his residence in his native village. However, on Thursday he was convicted to 10 years of custody in another case of recovery of a bullet-proof jacket and gun shell from his residence in 2015.

However, after his hearing at special MP-MLA court in Patna on Thursday, Singh said to reporters, “I will move the Patna High Court and the Supreme Court against the judgment.”

Singh has won Mokama parliament seat five times — three times on a Janata Dal-United ticket, and fourth time as an Independent candidate. However, for his fifth row in 2020, he got seat with Rashtriya Janata Dal banner.

According to police, the case is of June 24, 2015, when the then Patna police chief Vikas Vaibhav held a search for over four hours in Singh’s residence. Poloce collected six empty magazines of Insas rifle, a bullet-proof jacket and some blood-stained clothes in it’s search. The attack was in held because of a kidnapping and murder trial under Barh police station thresholds.

However, clearing Singh’s stance, his counsel Sunil Kumar told, “This case is political and my client was implicated in a false case.”

However, Singh has a long history sheet of crime and is currently in jail.

Rashtriya Janata Dal's Tejashwi Yadav expressed his concerns about the new bill and spoke about the high-octane drama that occurred at the assembly today.

In a shocking turn of events, Bihar Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a rather dramatic outcome over the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021. Reflecting upon the same, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav expressed his concerns about the new bill and spoke about the high-octane drama that occurred at the assembly.

“We wanted to speak but we were thrashed. This law means that search will be conducted without warrant & “any policemen can arrest if he believes something is wrong”. No use of courts & magistrate,” RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav after uproar in Assembly over Bihar Special Armed Police Bill, reported the news agency ANI.

The police bill reportedly aims at giving more power to the police force that was introduced by Nitish Kumar’s government. Minister Bijendra Yadav presented the bill for debate which saw the opposition members gather in the well of the House where marshals rushed to prevent the agitated legislators from getting physical with those in the treasury benches.

Opposition MLAs have also alleged that they were manhandled by the personnel present in the Assembly. MLA Satyendra Kumar claimed, “The SP has hit me on my chest. This is the murder of democracy,” reported Times Now.

The recent reports also suggest that Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav has been taken into custody and his brother Tej Pratap following agression by party workers. The protest was led by Tejasvi Yadav along with his elder brother – Tej Pratap who was arrested at Patna’s Dak Bungalow Chowk.

The counting of Bihar elections has finally concluded with NDA emerging as the winner in the 243-member Bihar assembly despite the rival Mahagatbandhan. The Bihar elections witnessed a face-off between Nitish Kumar led NDA( BJP and JD(U) alliance) and Tejashwi Yadav upholding the reins of Mahagatbandhan, the grand alliance between RJD, Congress and other left parties.

NDA managed to hold 122 seats required to form the government with BJP winning 74 seats and JD(U) holding 43 seats, 4 for VIP and HAM each. The Prime Minister declared the victory an hour ago, stating that the people have voted for development.

On the other end, Mahagatbandhan stood at 112 constituencies, RJD with 75 seats, Congress with 19 seats and Left with 16. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and also their CM candidate, won his Raghopur seat by a margin of over 38,000 votes in the result declared on Tuesday night. According to the EC, Tejashwi defeated Bharatiya Janata Party’s Satish Kumar by a margin of 38,174 votes.

AIMIM wins 5, BSP wins 1, LJP wins 1 & Independent wins 1 in the entire race.

The counting day was quite tumultuous, exciting and full of unexpected twists. The three phases were marked by slow transitions as BJP paced towards the potential victory. Mahagatbandhan was leading in the first while BJP recovered and gained the lost distance and sufficient seats to overtake by the grand alliance third phase. BJP heaved JD(U) up throughout as BJP was leading on 73 seats and JD(U) in 40. The RJD was leading in 69 seats. RJD quickly recovered by 7 pm and as of 9 pm was leading with 24 victorious seats while leading in 51.

The Bihar elections were conducted in the backdrop of the COVID-19 scare, the following economic crisis and exodus of mass migrants- all the unprecedented conditions cumulatively creating the urgency of job-creation and financial assistance. These elections were primarily canvassed thus on the major factors of employment opportunities and development. Now time shall bear witness to the reign of elected party and their decisions, as the voters hold their faith high and await positive changes in the state.

As Nitish Kumar’s NDA and Tejashwi Yadav’s grand alliance are fighting in a close neck-to-neck competition to occupy Bihar seat...

As Nitish Kumar’s NDA and Tejashwi Yadav’s grand alliance are fighting in a close neck-to-neck competition to occupy Bihar seat of power, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Tej Pratap Yadav has already taken to Twitter with a proclamation of “Tejashwi Bhava: Bihar!” instilling confidence in supporters that his brother, Tejashwi Yadav, will be Bihar’s next chief minister.

As the NDA were pushed back by the opposition in the initial hours of counting, JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi told a news channel that his party was not defeated by the RJD but the “nation’s curse (COVID-19)”. “We welcome people’s decision. We were not defeated by RJD or Tejashwi Yadav but the nation’s curse (COVID-19). We are trailing only because of COVID-19. We are paying for past 70 years of deterioration in Bihar, ” the senior JD(U) leader said. “Neither the brand Nitish has disappeared nor Tejashwi Yadav has been established. It is worth mentioning that in the trends that have come from Bihar till now, explicate a close fight between the NDA and the grand alliance. The competition is so close that it is very difficult to make any guesses about the result,” Tyagi further said.

Tyagi also put the blame on Chirag Paswan-led LJP which played the role of “vote katua” in the elections. Reaction from Tyagi came after initial trends showed the grand alliance taking an early lead over the NDA.

Interestingly, soon after Tyagi’s comment went on air, party leader Sanjay Singh stepped out of chief minister Nitish Kumar’s official residence to meet the media and stated, “The NDA is forming the government, there is no doubt about it. Nitish Kumar will once again be the chief minister of an NDA government in Bihar. Like I said in the last elections, that Mahagatbandhan (the grand alliance) will form the government (in spite of BJP’s initial celebrations expecting a win), this time too I am predicting a win.”

The COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent lockdown resulted in a massive exodus of migrants from the capital cities located in Indian heartland to their native villages in Bihar. Bihar faced a huge management crisis after witnessing an unanticipated spike in the number of unemployed and the disastrous economic consequences resulting from COVID-19.

Most exit polls predicted Tejashwi’s victory over NDA. While one poll forecast that the RJD-led Opposition alliance could secure a two-thirds majority, another said it would cross the halfway mark with ease. According to pollsters, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party would end up with single-digit seats.

The battlefield of Bihar Assembly Elections is experiencing a very tight fight. There are 30 seats in the Bihar assembly...

The battlefield of Bihar Assembly Elections is experiencing a very tight fight. There are 30 seats in the Bihar assembly where the margin is less than 500 votes and 55 seats where the margin is less than 1000. The early trends of 242 seats out of a total of 243 seats of Bihar assembly have arrived. The Bhartiya Janta Party is the single largest party having the lead on 71 seats of the state assembly. While RJD comes after BJP having the lead on 59 seats. The JDU is not too much behind, it is leading on 52 seats. The Indian Nation Congress has a lead on 21 seats.

However, the Tejashwi led RJD has got a maximum percent of vote share having 23.1% of total votes counted. BJP is not too far behind in terms of vote share percentage having a 20.01% share of total votes counted.

Bihar is a battlefield where major parties had to make alliances. There are two major alliances in the election having NDA led by 3 times Bihar CM and JDU’s prominent leader Nitish Kumar. The second one is the grand alliance formed by RJD, Congress, and some left parties and led by chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav of RJD.

Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) supporters gathered outside Tejashwi Yadav’s residence to celebrate expected victory as the counting of votes for Bihar assembly election starts.
Earlier Tejashwi celebrated his birthday yesterday. There was a crowd of RJD supporters in front of Tejashwi’s house.

Bihar assembly has 243 seats and any party or alliance needs 122 seats to form a government in the state. As per the live voting count, Nitish Kumar led NDA is leading on 92 seats while Tejashwi Yadav led Mahagathbandhan is leading on 84 seats.

RJD and Mahagathbandhan supporters are in a mood of celebration as many opinion polls conducted by leading news channels showed signs of victory for the alliance. Tejashwi Yadav had a remarkable election campaign and he became popular among the youth of Bihar by promising 10 lakh government jobs in the state. He promised to these openings in the very first cabinet meeting of if he is elected.

Three-time Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has hinted at his political retirement on the last day of the Bihar election campaign.

Three-time Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has hinted at his political retirement on the last day of the Bihar election campaign. While addressing a rally in Purnia district, he announced that the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 will be his last elections.

“Today is the last day of campaigning and day after tomorrow is the election. This is my last election…aant bhala to sab bhala,” Nitish Kumar said while addressing a public gathering in Bihar’s Purnia district.

“Saheb has said that this is his last election. This time, he has not given an account of his last five years of governance and has already told that he will not come to give account next time. Do not vote for those who will not come to seek your blessings again tomorrow. In the next elections, neither saheb will remain nor Janata Dal (United). Then who will give the account?” Lok Janshakti Party Chief Chirag Paswan tweeted taking a dig at Kumar.

Earlier, Paswan stated that Nitish Kumar would stand “with hands folded and head bowed” before Rashtriya Janata Dal leadership for another opportunity of power politics despite the party’s poor performance in the assembly elections. Tejashwi Yadav, the opposition grand alliance’s chief ministerial candidate, has often hinted how Kumar was “tired”.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala took a dig at Kumar’s statement and said now Bihar would move on as “tired and retired” Nitish Kumar-led government has accepted retirement.

Nitish Kumar began his political journey in 1977 and it took him eight years to make his first win from Harnaut in 1985 after failing twice in 1977 and in 1980.

Kumar, who is currently seeking his fourth consecutive term as the CM, has been one of the two major poles of Bihar politics, the other being RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Nitish has come a long way from the political years he spent under the umbrella of Lalu, and George Fernandes in the Samata Party, which the two of them had founded in 1994. In 2000, as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Nitish became the CM of Bihar. He has been supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2005, barring four years (June 2013 to July 2017).

Bihar Elections: FIR registered against Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Anil Sadhu, Kalo Paswan, Sunita Devi & Manoj Paswan on the basis of the deceased’s wife’s statement who alleged them in connection with the murder of former secretary (SC/ST cell) of the state unit of the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Shakti Mallik on Sunday. Mallik, 35, was shot dead on Sunday morning when in his home at Mugi Farm Road by unidentified assailants in Purnia district.

“At about 6 am on Sunday three masked men came and fired at my husband from close range. We rushed him to the Sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead. My husband was killed at the instigation of Tejaswi Yadav,” his wife said.

According to police, three unidentified armed criminals entered Malik’s room and shot him dead from close range. “He was shot thrice and he died on the spot,” a police official said.

The allegations could have been made because in recent weeks Malik had leveled serious allegations against RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav accusing him of demanding Rs 50 lakh to contest from Raniganj (SC) seat on a party ticket. Mallik joined the RJD in 2019 and was later made state secretary (SC/ST cell, Bihar).

However, RJD considered these allegations as a political move before the assembly polls of Bihar elections. RJD state spokesperson, Mritunjay Tiwary said the charges against Tejashwi and Tej Pratap were baseless and false. “The FIR is politically motivated, Police will probe the matter and the truth will come out. RJD leaders never play such a dirty game in politics,” said RJD senior leader in Purnia, Kamal Kishor Yadav.”

Sudharshan Kumar was among the legislators who had planned to leave the Congress after Ashok Choudhary was removed as the state chief in September 2017.

RJD chief spokesman Bhai Birendra said that Bhola Rai was made MLC and a minister by the party chief for his gesture. “No other party would give him the honour and respect which he received by the RJD.

Ahead of polls in Bihar, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh quits Rashtriya Janata Dal, RJD. He was the former Union Minister and a long time colleague of Lalu Prasad Yada. He has written a letter to the National President of the party, Lalu Prasad Yadav stating his resignation. For the past few days, he had expressed his unhappiness over bringing former BJP MP Rama Singh from Vaishali to the party by Tej Pratap Yadav.

A controversy had erupted over Raghuvansh Prasad being compared to lotta water, after which Tej Pratap Yadav said that his statement was misrepresented. Raghuvansh Prasad is his uncle.

According to sources, the health of Raghuvansh Prasad, who is also undergoing treatment at AIIMS, has deteriorated in the past few days which might be a reason for his resignation as well.

Another Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA deserted the party on Tuesday ahead of the Bihar state assembly polls and joined the ruling Janata Dal(United) party, taking the total number of desertions in RJD to 13 in one month. Virendra Kumar became the 13th legislator to leave and join former party member Parsa MLA Chandrika Rai in JD(U).

“Several other MLAs are sending feelers. If JD(U) decides to provide a free entry, there will be a virtual stampede in RJD.The RJD tally will be worse than 2010. It is like product which has no takers,” Lallan Singh, a prominent JD(U) leader said. RJD in response slammed JD(U) by calling the party a clone of BJP and said that the deserters are desperate to stay relevant in electoral politics, hence opted for this last ditch attempt.

However JD(U) is reluctant to give an open invite to other sitting RJD MLAs as it is considering the 50:50 seat sharing formula with BJP for the polls.
