Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra writes a letter to the Education Ministry asking to reconsider the decision to conduct board exams.

Congress leader, on Sunday, penned down a letter to the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal asking him to ponder over the decision of the CBSE to conduct board exams amid the ongoing crisis.

She writes, “It is indeed shocking that despite the massive and uncontrolled rise in Covid-19 cases across the country and over 1 lakh new cases coming to light on a daily basis, the CBSE board has issued a circular stating that it is going ahead with the board exams scheduled in May.”

She further mentions that lakhs of students are in apprehension regarding the gatherings at exam centers and to sit for the exams battling the second wave of the Coronavirus at the same time.

Priyanka also justifies these apprehensions by stating that it is practically impossible for the management to ensure the safety of the students at large and thronged exam centers.

She adds, “Additionally, given the nature and spread of the virus, it is not just the students who will be at risk but also their teachers, invigilators, and family members who are in contact with them.”

Above all, Priyanka Gandhi requests the Education Ministry to get the board exams canceled under the prevailing situation.

देश भर में कोरोना के बढ़ते मामलों के बीच छात्रों व उनके अभिवावकों ने CBSE परीक्षा 2021 को लेकर कुछ वाजिब चिंताएं जाहिर की हैं।

My letter to the Minister of Education @DrRPNishank asking him to reconsider allowing the CBSE to conduct board exams under the prevailing COVID wave. pic.twitter.com/Ai4Zl796il

— Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (@priyankagandhi) April 11, 2021

Although, the second wave of the virus has taken a gigantic form. India has reported 1, 52, 879 cases in the last 24 hours.

In the national capital, the number of cases turns out to be more than 10,000 in the last 24 hours. In a view to curb this, the Delhi government has come up with a fresh set of restrictions on Sunday.

Several other states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are struggling with the intractable rates of rising Covid-19 cases.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has requested Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to make elaborate security arrangements for conducting the medical and engineering entrance exams NEET and JEE in the coastal state.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has requested Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to make elaborate security arrangements for conducting the medical and engineering entrance exams NEET and JEE in the coastal state. The state has set up 17 centers where 6,939 students would be appearing for these exams, the minister said in a tweet on Sunday.

The opposition Congress in the state has demanded that NEET and JEE examinations be postponed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I had an extensive discussion with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over holding of the prestigious NEET-JEE examinations in the state, Nishank tweeted.

“The state has set up 17 centers for 6939 students who would be taking these exams. I have requested CM to have elaborate security arrangements and facilities at these centers,” he said in another tweet. Three leaders of the Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) were detained on Saturday after they sat on a hunger strike at the Azad Maidan in Panaji, demanding that JEE and NEET examinations be postponed.

On Friday, ministers of six non-BJP ruled states moved the Supreme Court against its August 17 order allowing the exams. The top court had refused to interfere with the conduct of the medical and engineering entrance exams, saying life must go on and students can’t lose a precious year due to the pandemic.
