ED raid on locations of IAS officer Puja Singhal in connection with illegal mining

Ranchi, May 6: Teams of the Enforcement Directorate are conducting simultaneous raids. Across 18 locations in the country in connection with illegal mining and mines allocation. Since Friday morning raids are on in separate locations in Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi NCR. And all these places are linked with senior IAS officer of Jharkhand Cadre Puja Singhal. She is also currently posted as Secretary of the Mines Department. Apart from her official residence teams of the ED are also conducting search at the residence of her husband. The raids are being conducted at Panchwati Residency Block Number 9 Chandni Chowk Kanke. New Building Hariom Tower Lalpur, Pulse Hospital Bariyatu etc in Ranchi.

Kumbh COVID Testing Scam: ED raids several labs in Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand

The ED (Enforcement Directorate) had said on August 6, that they had raided the premises of many pathological labs in connection to a fake COVID-19 testing scam in the Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand which had come out during the Kumbh Mela Festival.

In an official statement, it was mentioned that ED had conducted a search at the offices and residential premises of Novus Path Labs, Dr Lal Chandani Labs, Max Corporate Services, DNA Labs, and Nalwa Labs in Dehradun, Delhi, Noida, Haridwar, and Hisar, with connection to fake COVID-19 testing scam during the Kumbh Mela at Haridwar.

Max Corporate Services had hired Nalwa Labs and Dr Lalchandani Labs to conduct COVID-19 tests. Over 1 lakh tests were conducted at these 11 company labs which had been spotted by the investigators.

The scam came to light when a Punjab resident received a negative COVID-19 report from the Haridwar health department but had not visited the Kumbh Mela, the resident filed a complaint with the Indian Council of Medical Research who alerted the authorities of Uttarakhand.

In a detailed investigation, it was found that over 1 lakh test reports had been forged by a private agency.

In the 1600 page investigation report, it was mentioned that a single phone number had been used to register over 50 people whereas 700 samples had been tested using a single-use antigen test kit. The phone numbers used were fake and were of the sample people across different cities.

The addresses and names were also found to be fictional by the investigation, where it was reported that over 530 samples had been taken from a single house.

The Health officer of Kumbh Mela, Dr Arjun Singh Sengar, had mentioned that two other private labs were also under investigation to whom the agency was supposed to submit the samples.

Amit Negi, the Health Secretary, had said that the report found many irregularities and was forwarded to the Haridwar DM and action would be taken within 15 days when the DM responds.

DM of Haridwar, C Ravishankar said that the matter was being investigated and the payment of the agencies had been put on hold until further notice. The scam was of crores as the report mentioned that each agency was paid Rs 350 per antigen test.

The 200 employees of the agency who were sample collectors were students and data entry operators in Rajasthan. 8 more agencies had been found for conducting fake COVID-19 test samples during the Kumbh Mela.

Delhi&UP: The ED raids 6 places for illegal religious conversion to Islam

On Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted six raids in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in a connection with a recent allegation for forcing the conversion of poor and deaf students to Islam with funding from abroad.

The raids had been conducted at various locations in the national capital and adjoining states as confirmed by the officials. During the raids, several documents had been recovered which revealed that Mohammad Umar Gautam had conducted large scale religious conversions along with his organisations throughout India. The accused organisations had received several crores of foreign funding for the sole purpose of these illegal conversions.

The UP police’s ATS had arrested Umar Gautam earlier, who ran the Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC) outfit along with this associate Mufti Qazi Jahangir Alam Qasmi, both of them were residents of Jamia Nagar in Delhi. The police also claimed that the IDC had received funds from Pakistan’s inter services intelligence (ISI) along with other foreign agencies to carry out these religious conversions.

On Saturday, the ED officials had searched these locations in Delhi as well as the office of IDC and the residences of Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi and all the places were in the Jamia Nagar of Delhi. Whereas in UP, the offices of Al Hassan Education and Welfare Foundation and Guidance Education and Welfare Society were raided, both of which resided in Lucknow, the organisations were run by Umar Gautam and had played an instrumental role in carrying out the illegal conversions.

The UP Police’s ATS discovered these cases in the previous month, after which the ED had lodged a criminal case under the provisions of the stringent Prevention of Money Laundering Act before it launched it’s own investigation in the case.

Firoz Nadiadwala comments on wife’s arrest; says ‘truth will be out”

Producer Firoz Nadiadwala spoke out about his wife Shabana Saeed‘s arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Bollywood drug case.

Talking to SpotboyE, Firoz said, “The truth will be out. Pray for me, bhai.” However, the producer has made no direct comments regarding the drug case.

On Sunday (8th November), the NCB had raided Nadiadwala residence for drug allegations where they recovered about 10 gm of cannabis that was acquired from a drug peddler named Sultan. After recording Shabana’s statement, the NCB arrested her.

Reportedly, on Monday (9th November) actor Arjun Rampal‘s house is being raided by the NCB for the same case. Read more about it here.

Firoz Nadiadwala’s residence raided, NCB arrests wife Shabana Saeed

Film producer Firoz A. Nadiadwala‘s wife, Shabana Saeed was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday (8th November) for a drug case.

Reportedly, NCB had carried out a raid at Nadiadwala’s house on Sunday morning, wherein they recovered 10 gm of ganja (cannabis). NCB then took Shabana to their office for interrogation, where she recorded her official statement. She was arrested later in the day for the same.

As per a report by Dailyhunt, cannabis was procured from Wahid Abdul Kadir Sheikh aka Sultan, a drug peddler who was arrested by the NCB on 6th November. The raid at Nadiadwala’s residence was carried out post learning about the producer during interrogation with the suspects by the NCB.

Nadiadwala has produced films like Awara Pagal Deewana, Phir Hera Pheri, Welcome, among others.

CBI seizes Rs 50 Lakhs cash during raids at the Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar & his brother-MP, DK Suresh‘s residences

Central Bureau of Investigation has seized around Rs 50 Lakhs cash during raids at the premises of
Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar & his brother-MP, DK Suresh.

CBI has registered a case against the then Minister of Karnataka Government and others, on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets. Searches are still being conducted today at 14 locations – including 9 in Karnataka, 4 in Delhi, one in Mumbai.

Earlier today, CBI raids were underway at more than 15 premises of state Congress chief DK Shivakumar and his brother & MP DK Suresh, including the former’s residence at Doddalahalli, Kanakapura, and Sadashiva Nagar, in Bengaluru.

Mr Shivkumar has been facing these inquiries under corruption and money laundering cases. In August 2019, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Shivakumar in connection with a money laundering case. Though, Shivakumar had strongly denied the allegations describing the case against him as a political vendetta.

Ileana D’cruz to be cast opposite Ajay Devgn in the Hindi remake of Luther

After Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, now Ajay Devgn is all set to make his digital debut. Ever since theatres were put under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for OTT platforms has only increased. Reportedly, one of the top OTT giants has signed Ajay for a Hindi remake of the TV show, Luther. The actor will be seen stepping into the shoes of Idris Elba.

Ajay has already signed the project and the makers are on the lookout for an actress to be paired opposite him. A source said to Pinkvilla, “The team wanted someone who will have a powerful screen presence and they are already in talks with Ileana D’Cruz for the same. This will also be Ileana’s first web series if she says yes to it. She has heard the idea and loved it. She also has a great working rapport with Ajay so, in all probabilities, she will sign on the dotted line soon.”

The two primary roles on the show are of Alice Morgan, portrayed by Ruth Wilson, and Luther’s wife, Zoe Luther, essayed by Indira Varma. Ileana’s role has not been confirmed yet. “Ileana’s team is currently discussing modalities. She’s most probably going to play Ajay’s wife in the series,” the source adds.

Ajay and Ileana have previously shared screen space in films like Baadshaho and Raid. Ileana is also playing the lead in Ajay’s next production venture, ‘The Big Bull’.
