Military helicopter finds missing small plane in N Philippines

Manila, Dec 5 : A military helicopter on Tuesday spotted the wreckage of a missing small plane with two people on board, including the pilot, in Isabela province in the northern Philippines, a provincial spokesperson said.

Joshua Hapinat of the Isabela Incident Management Team said the Philippine Air Force helicopter could not get close enough to the wreckage, which was nestled deep in the mountain forest, to determine the condition of the plane’s pilot and the lone passenger.

The province will dispatch a team to the crash site.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said the single-engine light Piper aircraft took off at 9:39 a.m. local time on Nov. 30 at the Cauayan City Airport in Isabela, heading for Palanan, a coastal town east of the city, when it went missing.

An inquiry is underway into the crash of a private company’s trainer aircraft – in the vicinity of Umari village in Chorhata Police Station limits – that claimed a pilot’s life and grievously injured a trainee.

Law-enforcement authorities said that the plane took off during the intervening night from Chorhata airstrip. While a landing was being attempted in fog, the aircraft came in contact with power cables and then a temple spire before crashing. Patna-resident Captain Vimal Kumar and Jaipur’s Sonu Yadav sustained severe injuries. The duo was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in this divisional headquarters where Capt Kumar succumbed.

Boeing 737 Cargo plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean off Hawaii with two people onboard

On Friday morning, the two pilots of the Boeing 737 Cargo plane made an emergency landing in the water and survived, eventually.

The Federal Aviation Authority stated, “The pilots had reported engine trouble and were attempting to return to Honolulu when they were forced to land the aircraft in the water.” The cargo plane, operated as Transair Flight 810, was heading from Honolulu to Maui.

One of the two pilots informed in the air traffic communications that they had lost no.1 engine and were coming straight to the airport. They added, “We’re going to need the fire department. There’s a chance we’re going to lose the other engine, too, it’s running very hot. We’re very low on speed.”

Just before the aircraft broke apart and crashed in the water, a pilot had said, “It doesn’t look good out there.” Both pilots were reported to be severely injured but fortunately had survived the plane crash.

Rescue workers in a Coast Guard Helicopter located the wreckage as well as pulled out the pilots. The rescuers found a pilot on the tail of the down plane and the other one clinging on top of some floating packages. The pilots were airlifted to a hospital and picked up by a rescue boat of Honolulu fire department while being taken ashore.

Boeing had informed that it aware of the reports coming out of Honolulu, Hawaii and was monitoring the situation closely. In addition, the US-based aerospace company was in contact with the US National Transportation Safety Board.

Cockpit exchange recorded in the downed Ukrainian jet, Boeing 737, shows that the passengers and crew were alive before the second missile hit, Iran said on Monday.

This is the first official report given by Capt Zanganeh, head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation after the black box was sent for analysis to France. He said that up to 19 seconds of conversation was recorded between the two pilots and one pilot instructor in the cabin and that they were piloting till the aircraft till the ‘last moment.’ The conversation between the pilots indicated that passengers were alive after the first impact and that the flight had been in a normal flight corridor before the first missile hit.

“At this moment, the plane has an electrical problem and the auxiliary power of the plane is turned on at the order of the pilot instructor. Both engines were on in the seconds after the explosion.No sound was heard from the passenger cabin at that moment. The recording stopped after 19 seconds,” Zanganeh said. Since the recording stopped after 19 seconds the effects of the second missile could not be analyzed. The details about the conversation in the cockpit were not disclosed.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had shot down the jet with a ground-to-air missile on 8th January in Tehran, killing all the 176 people aboard. Iran later admitted that it had shot the plane ‘unintentionally’ and that it was a ‘disastrous mistake’ amidst rising tensions between Iran and the U.S.

Air India Crash Update: Air India Boeing-737 Plane crashed after trying to land twice in bad weather

FlightRadar24, a Swedish internet-based commercial flights tracker stated that the Boeing-737 flight from Dubai to Calicut International Airport, which was carrying 190 passengers and crew, including 10 children, tried to land twice from two different directions before the ultimate crash. Out of the 190 individuals on board, 123 are injured and 20 are in critical condition.
The survivors of the crash have lauded the efforts of aircraft captain, Wing Commander Deepak Vasant Sathe, expressing their gratitude and claiming that he ‘saved their life.’ One of the passengers said, “It was raining heavily. The pilot had given a warning before landing saying the weather was really bad. He tried for safe landing twice but lost control. The aircraft shot off the runway and skidded off and it broke into two pieces. It was a miraculous escape for many.”

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Arif Mohammad Khan, visited the crash site to oversee the rescue efforts that are currently underway.

AirIndia Aircraft with nearly 200 people onboard skidded at Karipur, Kolkata on Friday evening around 7:45 PM. As per the Initial reports two casualties have been confirmed, One pilot dead in the mishap and other injuries are yet not confirmed. The plane broke into 2 pieces in the incident.

Updates from Officials:

Rajeev Jain, Additional DG Media, Civil Aviation Ministry said that no fire was reported at the time of landing. “There are 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and 5 cabin crew onboard the aircraft. As per initial reports, rescue operations are on and passengers are being taken to hospital,” he said.

PM Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan who told him that a team of officials including Kozhikode and Malappuram District Collectors and IG Ashok Yadav have arrived at the airport and are participating in the rescue operation, Kerala CMO said.
