Producer of Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ are opting for a theatrical release

Kartik Aaryan will begin filming for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ as soon as the Maharashtra government confirms relaxation covid-related relaxations. “We may not be able to shoot in a bio bubble, which is the current rule for shooting in Mumbai, as it’s difficult process,” says producer Murad Khetani. We will wait for Mumbai to achieve Level 2 status before planning the shoot. At the rate Mumbai is performing and Covid-19 numbers are decreasing, we could be at Level 2 within a week.”

The film’s Mumbai schedule, which might be the final one, will be shot on set. “Once things return to normalcy, we will be building a set in one of the studios, and we want to finish the shoot in one schedule, working according to the dates of the stars,” Khetani says.
Kartik will star with Kiara Advani, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav in the film. It is a stand-alone sequel to Priyadarshan’s cult classic horror comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa,’ which featured Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in 2007. Anees Baazmee is directing the sequel.

The filming of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ began in October 2019 and was set to be released in July 2020. Kartik had revealed on social media a few months ago that the film will be released on November 19, 2021. Khetani said of the film’s release date and platform, “We haven’t scheduled the release date, but ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2′ will release in theatres once the film is ready.”

Kartik has recently begun posting behind-the-scenes photographs and stills from the film’s set on his social media accounts. In March, he shared a humorous pic with Rajpal Yadav and wished his fans a Happy Holi. He’d even posted a funny photo of Tabu pretending to be holding a portable bio-bubble.
It remains to be seen if ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ will be released in theatres or via a hybrid OTT and theatrical release.

Arjun Kapoor reveals Dibakar Banerjee talked to him about ‘his girlfriends, childhood and his issues with emotion’ to take out Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar performance’

Bollywood actors Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor are earning rave reviews for their performance in Dibakar Banerjee’s latest film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. Although the film was broadcasted in theatres on March 19, it got a life only after it was released on Amazon Prime Video recently. In a conversation with The IndianEXPRESS, Arjun and Parineeti looked back at the making of the film and how Dibakar managed to extract the best out of them.

As audience members, we have seen many other films of these actors and to give credit where it is due, it is certainly one of the best performances that we have seen by the two stars. Kapoor echoed the statement and shared, “I am still the same actor who does those other films but every film has a different director.” Parineeti added that the other directors she works with have very few things to say when it comes to actually giving guidance to an actor. “They’ll say thoda energy up kar do (increase the energy), that’s the maximum they will give you,” she shared. Arjun explained it best when he said, “It felt like children making a play. It never felt like it was going to transpire like this. It was fun, it just paid off.”

Arjun elaborated on the process that went behind the scenes to bring Pinky to screen. Pinky does not use his words as much but instead allows his silences to do all the talking. Arjun shared that Dibakar accentuated those silences even more in the editing stage. Talking about the scene where Pinky changes his mind about leaving Sandy behind and taking off to Nepal, Arjun said that in every take “he gave me a different thought to think about.” He added, “That’s the fun with Dibakar sir, he always doesn’t talk about the shot, he’ll tell you something about Pinky that needs to be told, something about Sandeep, so that something is churning in your mind. He has never briefed me directly about what is the next scene or the scene before.”

Arjun shared that they spent three months in the practice of this character and that “pay-off is in the silences.” “Those mundane conversations that we have had about how many girlfriends I have had, my childhood, why I have issues with emotion, he has tapped into certain things. Now when I look back, it’s that process that has made those closeups come alive. He used to tell us so much about the character without telling us about the scene,” Arjun added.

Parineeti spoke about her experience of filming with Dibakar Banerjee and described him as a “chameleon.” “He will direct different actors according to the people they are. With me, we would argue for hours. I have never fought with a director so much,” she shared.

Talking about her educational background, Parineeti asserted that the route of asking questions works best for her as a performer. “I come from a very academic background so a lot of questioning works best for me because once I get clarity, I can give a shot quicker. I have worked with other directors too and that process doesn’t work with them. They are not able to cope with it. Long story short, Dibakar sir’s ability to mould himself for each actor has brought out the best in each actor,” shared Parineeti.

Apart from Parineeti and Arjun, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has some admirable performances by Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor’s led Bhoot Police to get an OTT release, confirms, producer Ramesh Taurani

Bhoot Police, starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Jacqueline Fernandez, will have an OTT release, confirmed producer Ramesh Taurani on Wednesday. The horror-comedy was formerly planned for a theatrical release on September 10 this year.

Talking about the release of Bhoot Police, Ramesh Taurani told ETimes, “Look, I was supposed to release ‘Bhoot Police’ in September 2021. I felt that it would be better in the present scenario if I stick to my original month. So yes, Bhoot Police will be released on OTT mostly in September or October.”

The film producer also added that he hit a good deal for the OTT release of Bhoot Police. “I have got a good deal. I do not discuss money in the public domain but I can tell you that I have not been shortchanged,” he said.

Bhoot Police has been directed by Pawan Kirpalani. The makers had in February shared an intriguing and eerie poster, which revealed the theme of the film.

Speaking about working with Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor, Kriplani had said, “I am thrilled to have Saif and Arjun come together for this entertaining feature. Both of them will be seen bringing their trademark fun elements to the brand new avatars they will portray in this film.”

Despite Salman Khan’s appeal to his fans to prevent piracy ahead of ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’, his latest Eid release was leaked on piracy sites within hours of its release. It is now available on the internet in HD quality on Telegram and Tamilrockers, telegram.

A day before Radhe’s release, Salman had taken to his social media platforms to share a video about his “no piracy policy”. Through a video message, he had said, “It takes the hard work of several people to make one film and it hurts a lot when some take the route of piracy to watch the final product. I want a commitment from all of you that you will enjoy films on the right platform. So this Eid we want a commitment from the audience – no piracy in entertainment.”

Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom in talks to get a direct-to-digital launch on Amazon-Prime

Akshay Kumar has become the first A-list superstar to release his film directly on the OTT platform. He ventured into this feat with his horror-comedy Laxmii. This move triggered backlash from the exhibition community. The film too received negative reviews from critics and audience alike.

A source revealed to BollywoodHungama, “The producers of Bell Bottom – Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani – have started conversations with Amazon Prime to explore the possibility of a direct to digital release, and so far, both the parties seem to be on the same page. Various prospects are being discussed, including the financials, and there might be some clarity within the next one month. But at this point of time, team Bell Bottom is definitely exploring the direct to digital option of release.”

Following the release of Laxmii, the makers of Bell Bottom has released a teaser. It stated that the movie is expecting release on April 2, 2021. But a source shared that the release on April 2 seems unlikely. Another Akshay Kumar film [Sooryavanshi], is slated to arrive in the same period. Given the costs and several other factors associated with the film and Akshay’s jam packed release calendar, the makers thought of exploring the digital release with Amazon Prime. The Bhagnani’s share a close bond with the digital platform and, so does Akshay, and that’s how the meeting happened. The source adds that all stakeholders are working towards devising terms and conditions that will benefit all.

In case the deal cracks, it will send shock waves across the movie fraternity. Akshay Kumar is one of the most bankable names in Bollywood. He is also one of the few superstars who directs the pull to bring the audience back to theatres.

Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe’ to release on OTT platform for 250 crores?

Superstar Salman Khan has kept his fans waiting for the much-awaited film ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai‘. Similar toh other Salman Khan films, Radhe was initially set to be released on Eid 2020. However, it was postponed keeping in view the Coronavirus pandemic.

It is now being said that ‘Radhe’ won’t be released in theatres at all. The makers are opting for an OTT release of the film. Rumours suggest that the actor is in the advanced stages of negotiations with Amazon Prime Video. Even though cinema halls and multiplexes have been opened for the public, they are still not attracting a lot of audiences. Therefore, the makers have opted for a digital release.

It is being said that Salman has demanded a figure of 175-250 crores for the deal. But it is being assumed that the deal will be sealed at around 150-160 crores. The satellite rights of the film have already been sold at 50 crores. However, if the film releases on OTT, there are chances of the satellite deal being renegotiated.

It is also being said that the actor is also giving a thought to the pay-per-view type of release just like the film ‘Khaali Peeli‘. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Mirzapur season 2 to premiere on Amazon prime from September

The most awaited second season of Mirzapur is finally releasing in Amazon prime. After the first season of Mirzapur was released, the series was highly appreciated by audience and definitely they cannot keep calm to watch the second season. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Amazon prime has confirmed the premier date in September, and it will be announced officially late next week. Though the Mirzapur team isn’t confirming the news for now but its expected to premier in next month.

The crime based series will hit the OTT Platform after one year and 10 months after the first season was premiered in 2018. The show was earlier supposed to premier in April this year but had to delay due to COVID-19. The makers have now completed all post production and dubbing for the show and has also handed over the final copy to Amazon prime.

The show deals with mafia don in a small village of Uttar Pradesh, Purvanchal where drugs and guns are sold unlawfully, and the government is corrupt. The show was not only highly appreciated by audience but also by the critics. It also had some power packed performances by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi and Harshita Kaur. Mirzapur’s second season is believed to carry Vikrant Masey’s death revenge, and this time it will be equally gripping and eye catchy as of first season.

Amazon prime has already lined up many Indian series this year and is releasing one show per month. Now after all the releases, all eyes are fixed on Mirzapur season 2.

Cinema halls to remain shut till August 31: Ministry of Home Affairs

The Ministry of Home Affairs released nationwide Unlock 3 guidelines yesterday, which opened up some more activities outside the containment zones, but cinema halls along with other places still remain shut. The guideline further revealed that the restriction on cinema halls will remain in place till August 31.

The entertainment industry has been hit hard by the four-month-long COVID-19 lockdown. As shoots for several films have already begun and with cinema halls still getting no-go from the government, more and more production houses are going to take the second possibility, which is the digital OTT release. The trend started with Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann’s starrer Gulabo Sitabo which was released on Amazon Prime.

Meanwhile, Disney+Hotstar have lined up seven new releases which include Laxmmi Bomb (Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani), Bhuj: The Pride of India (Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt), Sadak 2 (Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Pooja Bhatt), The Big Bull (Abhishek Bachchan), Khuda Haafiz (Vidyut Jammwal) and Lootcase (Kunal Kemmu and Rasika Dugal). Other OTT platforms like Netflix have also bought digital rights of Janhvi Kapoor-starrer ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’.

The trailer of Vidyut Jammwal starrer ‘Khuda Hafiz’ was also premiered on the same day as Sushant Singh Rajput’s final film on the OTT platform, Disney+Hotstar. Vidyut Jammwal is known for his high-octane stunts on screen and has previously been seen in action films like Force, the Commando franchise and Junglee. But his next starrer ‘Khuda Hafiz’ is a hardcore romantic film.

The film is set against the backdrop of the 2008 recession and is based on a true story of a man who is madly in love with his wife. Khuda Hafiz’s story revolves around a husband who has gone on a rampage to find his missing wife in a foreign country. Vidyut will be seen playing Sameer Choudhary, opposite Shivaleeka Oberoi, who will be playing the role of his missing wife, Nargis, who has been kidnapped by one of the strongest human traffickers in the world.

The movie is written by Zaheer Abass Qureshi and cinematography is done by Jitan Harmeet Singh. The film is produced by Panorama Studios. Apart from the lead stars Vidyut Jammwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi, Khuda Hafiz’s cast include Annu Kapoor, Shiv Panditt, and Aahana Kumara in lead roles.
