Opposition parties set to pass No-Confidence Motion against government citing Manipur Violence

The opposition parties are all set to move a no confidence motion against the current government headed by hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha. This surfaced up amidst growing calls for a discussion about ethnic violence in Manipur pertaining to the shameful video that was released online.

Members of the newly named Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance have called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the matter and sought a suspension of regular proceedings in order to discuss the burning issue. The proposal was also discussed during a meeting of the INDIA and is being seen as a bid to make the PM to address the Parliament. A government can function only when it has the majority support of the Lok Sabha. By moving a no-confidence motion the Opposition can essentially test the opinion of the House and in some cases oust the current government. A motion expressing want of confidence in the Council of Ministers can only be introduced in the Lok Sabha, and after at least 50 members of Parliament support it. In a tweet earlier this morning, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that 83 days of unabated violence in Manipur requires the Prime Minister to make a comprehensive statement in the Parliament. “Stories of absolute horror are now slowly trickling down. INDIA demands answers from the Modi Govt on Manipur violence,” he said. Kharge thought the situation in the Northeast to be extremely fragile and the repercussions of Manipur violence seemed to be having an effect on the neighbouring states too.

The existing home minister ,Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha – the lower house of parliament – earlier this week that the government was ready to discuss the violence and accused the opposition of preventing this. As for today, two motions were moved by MPs from the Congress party and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi – the first was accepted.

PM Boris Johnson to face No Confidence vote amid Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Boris Johnson is facing a number of tough days ahead as the conservative lawmakers gave a potentially lethal blow to PM Johnson’s leadership on Monday when they had ignited a start to the no-confidence vote that will surely be a put a stop to his reign as the Prime minister a little over two years since his landslide victory.

Graham Brady, head of the committee of conservative lawmakers followed several months of crisis and claims that PM Johnson had misled the Parliament about lockdown breaking parties held at Downing Street at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this year PM Johnson had become the first-ever serving prime minister to have been fined by the police over the breaking of the law and attending a gathering to celebrate in the light of his birthday. Last month, a report by senior civil servant Sue Gray offered a lurid image. Of lawbreaking parties at Downing Street, where staff members drank into the early hours of the morning. Destroyed property, and fought with one another on occasion.

PM Johnson’s No Confidence vote

The Prime Minister has also been subjected to excessive criticism. In light of the recent inflation and unavoidable recession in the days ahead. Besides this PM Johnson’s private popularity has also taken a turn for the worse, as cases of booing were reported when he had shown up for Queen Elizabeth’s thanksgiving party for her Platinum Jubilee.

“The threshold of 15 per cent of the parliamentary party. Seeking a vote of confidence in the leader of the Conservative Party has been exceeded”. Wrote Mr. Brady in a statement adding that the vote would take place between 6 and 8 p.m. on Monday evening.

After the statement given by Mr. Brady, he mentioned that he had already informed PM Johnson and that the vote should take place as soon as possible.

However, the vote will be a secret ballot. Allowing even those who openly pledge allegiance to him to withdraw their support if they so want. And if he fails, a battle to replace him as party leader and prime minister will be held. The last vote of no confidence was held in a similar manner. And then Prime Minister Theresa May had overcome the blow but was forced to resign six months later.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday welcomed the opposition parties – Noon League, PPP, Zardari, Fazal-ur-Rehman Diesel for forming a union against him and moving a no-confidence motion. This has taken the Pakistani’s mind away from the inflating prices of potatoes and tomatoes.

In Islamabad, Imran Khan presided over Pakistan’s Overseas Convention and reiterated that his team is always looking for solutions to reduce price inflation. However, with the drama these opposition parties have staged Pakistanis now have some diversion.

Imran said, “The funny part is none of these parties feel the other party is genuine, all of them feel all are corrupt. Let me explain. People’s party says Nawaz Sharif and Fazal-ur-Rehman Diesel are looters, Noon League feels Zardari and Fazal-ur-Rehman are looters, and Fazal-ur-Rehman thinks Noon League and PPP are swindlers. I really welcome them uniting despite these feelings and people now have realized that it’s better to drown with me than to save Pakistan from these stooges. And a rally has been set for 27^th March. I was surprised that how can the public changed so much in 10 days and they are not even bothered about the prices of Aloo and Pyaz.”

Imran Khan with his unwavering faith said that the opposition feels people have forgotten inflation prices, people will never forget about the level of corruption these parties have done so far and he is sure of the failure of the opposition in the 2023 general elections in Pakistan.

Imran Khan fearlessly declared, “I am not anti-India, anti-Britain, or anti-US. For all I care dearly I am not against any country. Only a derelict and an uneducated person can be against a country as a country has different schools of thought. What we are against are just their policies. Both Nawaz and Zardari are absolutely shameless. Past 10 days was witness to several drone attacks. And Nawaz and Zardari should have at least stated that no law in the entire world gives the onus for anyone to be a Judge, jury, or executioner.
