Nissan registers wholesales of 5,832 units for June 2023

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) made an announcement about wholesales of 5,832 units for the month of June 2023. The company said that its domestic wholesales stood at 2,552 units, while export wholesales stood at 3,280 units.

It was stated by the auto manufacturer that Nissan Magnite helped it achieve a significant milestone with the 100,000th Magnite produced at the Alliance plant in Chennai. Nissan Magnite is currently offered across 16 variants where XE is the base model of Magnite and Turbo CVT XV Premium (O) is the top variant.

It was commented by Rakesh Srivastava, the Managing Director of Nissan Motor India that “During Q1 of this fiscal we announced the launch of the Nissan Magnite GEZA Special Edition which marked the 100,000 Magnite rollout milestone. The Magnite Geza Special Edition is the first among many product interventions planned this year, and with the onset of normal monsoons, high single digit GDP growth and positive consumer sentiment, we are confident of delivering strong value to our customers.”

Nissan launched the Nissan Magnite GEZA Special Edition, at a starting price of ₹7,39,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Magnite GEZA edition is equipped with an advanced infotainment system, power packed performance, advanced features and safety enhancements The Nissan Magnite has also achieved a 4-star safety rating for adult occupant safety from Global NCAP. Safety features on the car include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Mumbai, July 1: Nissan Motor India announces a domestic wholesale of 3515 vehicles in June 2022. Exports wholesale is 4497 June 2022.

Nissan said sales of the Magnite have crossed the 50,000 mark since its debut in December 2020.

Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, commented, ‘Despite supply side challenges due to geopolitical reasons, Nissan recorded a 20 percent growth in Q1 on domestic and exports wholesale on the strength of Magnite, the momentum of which continues to be strong with over 31 percent of bookings through Nissan’s digital ecosystem with a pending pipeline of 16,000 plus bookings.’

The ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ Magnite is being exported to 15 countries overseas, namely, Indonesia, South Africa, Nepal; Bhutan; Bangladesh; Sri Lanka; Brunei; Uganda; Kenya; Seychelles; Mozambique; Zambia; Mauritius, Tanzania and Malawi.

Nissan to hire 1000 new workers at Chennai plant, double production to meet demand and start exports

Nissan Motor Co the leading Japanese automakers are all set to raise production at its car plant in India to meet demand and also to export its Magnite sports utility vehicle (SUV) , as told to Reuters by a senior executive.

As reported by Reuters, Rakesh Srivastava, managing director at Nissan Motor India said, Nissan will hire 1,000 more workers at its plant in the southern Indian city of Chennai and boost production to up to 4,000 cars a month from 2,700 cars currently.

Nissan also plans to export the compact SUV to Indonesia and South Africa but meeting demand in the Indian market will be a priority, Rakesh Srivastava added.

Nissan’s sales have slumped 60% over the past five years and its sole plant in the country is operating way below its capacity.

Globally, the Japanese automaker is pursuing a turnaround drive that involves cutting its vehicle line-up and production and slashing costs in an effort to plug losses and reverse rapid expansion led by its ousted Chairman Carlos Ghosn.

Nissan refuses claims of pulling out stakes in Mitsubishi

Nissan Motor Co is “absolutely not” pulling out its stake in Mitsubishi Motors Corp, its alliance partner, Nissan’s chief operating officer Ashwani Gupta confirmed on Monday after a report alleged that the carmaker was considering removing its stakes in its alliance partner.

“We are not in any discussion or consideration of changing the capital structure in our partner companies. We are moving ahead with many projects,” Ashwani Gupta said in an interview.

He cleared the air after a news agency had reported citing unidentified sources claiming to have knowledge on the matter, that Nissan might be pulling out its 34 percent stakes in Mitsubishi Motor to help it cope with the backlash due to COVID-19.

Pulling out of Mitsubishi would fundamentally help reshape a three-way merger including France’s Renault built by Carlos Ghosn, former chairman of the alliance. The partnership was deemed uncertain after Ghosn was arrested in 2018 on financial misconduct charges, which he denies.

Nissan’s stake in Mitsubishi Motors was worth $975.8 million at Monday’s closing price in Tokyo. Mitsubishi Motors, which confirmed that it would continue to hold its stake with its alliance partner, has gained 3 percent in stocks.

Last week, Nissan reduced its operating loss forecast for the year to March by 28 percent facilitated by a rebound in demand in China.

As per sources, Nissan Motor Co is planning to sell its 34% of stakes to Mitsubishi Motors Corp. This can be a fundamental change in the triple alliance, which also includes France’s Renault SA.
Due to the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Nissan is worried that it may struggle, so it is considering looking for potential buyers, which could include other shareholders such as trading firm Mitsubishi Corp.

Nissan Motors has been 43% owned by Renault and in the previous week cut its operating loss forecast for the year to March by 28% to 340 billion yen (2.5 billion pounds), especially in China.
Mitsubishi Motors, Japan’s No.6 automaker is been expecting to post an operating loss of 140 billion yen for the business year.

Both companies, Nissan Motors Co and Mitsubishi Motors, have been cutting production levels and costs in a bid to return to profitability.
