According to CNN18, the Goa government has imposed a night curfew in the state. The decision has been taken following the rising number of COVID-19 & Omicron cases. The curfew will be imposed from 11 pm to 6 am.

Due to account of the new year, many tourists gathered in Goa & this resulted in a increase in COVID-19 positivity cases in Goa. The positivity rates have surpassed 10%. CM Pramod Sawant had a meeting with the task force & finalized the decision on implementing night curfew. The curfew is likely to be imposed from tomorrow or from January 7, the decision on this is yet to be taken.

Schools have been shut down starting from tomorrow to January 26. No offline classes will be conducted in the state. The government has also requested eligible citizens to take COVID-19 vaccines.

Punjab Government imposes ‘daily Night Curfew’ and ‘Full Lockdown on weekends’- Check timings

Amid the unprecedented spike in the Covid-19 cases, the Punjab Government on Monday has ordered a slew of strict restrictions and extended the night curfew by two more hours. It has also ordered the closure of shops by 5 pm.

As per the new directive announced by Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh decreed a daily lockdown will continue from 6 pm to 5 am till further notice.

Meanwhile, a weekend lockdown will be in force from Friday 6 pm to Monday 5 am. Presently, the curfew restrictions remain in place from 8 pm to 5 am daily.

Urging everyone to stay at home and step out only if necessary, Mr Singh added that the government seeks full cooperation from the masses.

Furthermore, Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar said, all shops will remain open till 5 pm, news agency PTI reported.

In retrospect, 76 more people died from coronavirus in Punjab as the state reported another record single-day spike of 7,014 cases on Sunday. The state has taken its infection tally to 3,39,090 and saw 6,762 cases on April 23.

With 76 more fatalities in the past 24-hours, the death toll in the state reached 8,432, according to a medical bulletin issued on Sunday, reported the LiveMint.

The Chief Minister has reportedly directed the Health Department to follow up with the Centre for vaccine supplies as the state presently had only 1.76 lakh Covishield and 22,000 Covaxin doses in stock.

Health Secretary Hussan Lal disclosed that in response to directives from the Chief Minister, 2,000 beds would be added to strengthen the L2 and L3 bed capacity in government and private hospitals.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that the night curfew imposed in 7 districts, including Bengaluru, reporting high number of virus cases will continue. Currently, these places are under a night curfew between 10 pm and 5 am.

Speaking to reporters after chairing an emergency meeting with Health Minister K Sudhakar and top officials for about one-and-half hours, he said the Covid-19 situation was going out of control in Bengaluru and few other places.

“After 20th April we will sit once again and discuss and come to a decision depending on the advice of the Prime Minister and what decisions other states will take. I have gathered all the information.. we have discussed this on priority and we will take all the necessary measures at the earliest,” he added.

He also added, “The scenario in our state is different. No need to compare our state with other states. We have our own issues which need to be addressed.” He said that as far as COVID-19 is concerned, appropriate action will be taken to curb the spread further in the state.

Moreover, state health minister said that the authorities will be releasing a fresh set of guidelines for gatherings -social, political, cultural. “We’ve already imposed night curfew. Today we will issue a new circular regarding gatherings -social, political, cultural- we’ll discourage all these. There should be no more than 100 people at weddings in closed spaces and not more than 200 in open spaces,” directed Sudhakar.

Earlier also he had clarified that the statewide lockdown will not be imposed in the state. However, he had imposed night curfew in 7 districts of the state to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The seven district of Karnataka are under a night curfew between 10 PM and 5 AM till April 20. Those districts include Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumakuru, Udupi-Manipal. Notably, the curfew is limited to only these district centres and no rural areas come under these districts.

Karnataka on Thursday reported sharpest single day spike of 14,738 fresh coronavirus cases and 66 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 11.09 lakh and the toll to 13,112. The state had previously reported its biggest single day spike of 11,265 cases on Wednesday. The day also saw 3,591 patients getting discharged after recovery.

CM Yogi Adityanath announces night curfew in 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh from today

Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that night curfew will be imposed from 7 pm to 8 am with immediate effect in ten districts of the state in view of rising COVID-19 cases. He also said that classes for standard 1 through 12 will be suspended till May 15.

In a Tweet, the chief minister said, “Corona curfew to be effective from 8 pm to 7 am in all the 10 districts with more than 2,000 active cases including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Gorakhpur”.

He further stated that that the order will be applicable from immediate effect– “In view of the increased COVID-19 transmission, schools from class 1 to class 12 should be suspended till May 15. No examinations will be conducted during this period.”

According to the Union Health Ministry, Uttar Pradesh reported 14,404 new cases, 3,474 discharges, and 85 deaths on Thursday. With this, the number of recoveries reached 6,18,293 in the state. Currently, there are 95,980 active cases in the state.

Meanwhile, India reported its highest ever single-day spike in COVID-19 with over 2 lakh cases on Thursday, according to the Union Health Ministry. With over 2,00,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India recorded the highest single-day spike ever since the pandemic began last year.

The country’s total number of cases now stands at 1,40,74,564. These include 14,71,877 active cases too. India has also reported 1,038 fresh COVID-related fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 1,73,123. On the other hand, the people who have recovered from the disease climbed to 1,24,29,564.

On Thursday, April 15, Delhi Health Ministry released data about new cases COVID-19. Data released by department shows 16,699 new COVID-19 cases and 112 deaths in last 24 hours in National Capital.

This the fifth consecutive day on which the national capital has reported over 10,000 new COVID-19 cases. The total COVID-19 cases in Delhi now stand at 7,48,137, including 54,309 active cases, 7,18,176 recoveries and 11,652 deaths, as per the report published by Health Department.

In last 24 hours, total test conducted in Delhi stands at 82,569, including 59,401 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 23,168 Rapid antigen tests. Total tests per million in Delhi stands at 8,39,168.

Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also addressed Press conference regarding COVID-19 cases and new guidelines.

While addressing he announced about weekend curfew to be imposed in Delhi to curb the COVID-19 cases in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal said, “Curfew passes to be issued to those rendering essential services. Malls, gyms, spas and auditoriums to be closed. Cinemas halls to operate at 30% capacity only. People will not be allowed to dine-in restaurants, only home deliveries permitted.”

On 14 April, day 4 of the countrywide Tika Utsav, 31.39 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 8 pm. 69,974 COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) were operational, marking a rise of an average of 24,000 operational Vaccination Centres ( 45,000 CVCs on an average are functional on any given day). Workplace vaccinations have also enabled such a high turnout of beneficiaries.

On Wednesday, April 14, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took his Twitter handle to share the information about him being infected with COVID-19.

Yogi Adityanath tweeted– “On getting the initial symptoms, I got Covid-19 test done and my report came back positive. I am in self isolation and fully following the consultation of physicians. I am editing all tasks virtually.”

He further tweeted– “All activities of the state government are being conducted normally. Meanwhile, all those who have come in contact with me must do their investigation and take precaution.”

On Monday, April 5, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Lucknow and he appealed to all those eligible to get inoculated. Nurse Rashmi Jeet Singh administered Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN to the Chief Minister at the hospital.

The Uttar Pradesh government has already announced restrictions on gatherings of five or more people in religious places for effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic during Navratri and Ramadan.

In last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh reported the highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 coronavirus cases and 85 deaths.With this, the total state’s infection tally stands at 7,23,582 and the death toll at 9,309.

Delhi CM Kejriwal urges Centre to cancel CBSE Board Exams and to find alternative assessment system

In the wake of the rising Coronavirus cases in the country, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had urged the Centre to cancel the CBSE Board Exams 2021 stating that the health and lives of millions of students are at risk. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, the CM said that nearly 6 lakh children are going to appear for the board exams and 1 lakh teachers will be a part of it. He added that these exam Centres could become major hotspots leading to a large-scale spread of corona.

He urged the youth not to step out of their homes until completely necessary. Taking about the CBSE Board Exams, Kejriwal said– “Some alternative methods could be thought of. Children can be promoted this time on the basis of an online method or an internal assessment. But CBSE Exams should be cancelled.”

The statement from the Delhi chief minister comes at a time when it was reported that the Central Board Of Secondary Education was rethinking its decision to conduct board exams in the month of May, for the students of class 10th and 12th. According to the sources close to the Education ministry, authorities are of the view that it would be “difficult” to conduct board exams at a time when the second wave of the infection is gripping the nation. However, the education ministry is yet to make a decision in this regard.

Kejriwal also urged citizens to donate their plasma as cases continue to rise. “We need to help our neighbours to fight the Covid-19 battle”, he said. Meanwhile, as per the reports, a total of 13,500 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Delhi. “During the peak in November, 8500 cases were reported, compared to that, we are already reporting 13,500 cases”, Kejriwal added.

On Saturday, April 10, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that there will be no lockdowns in Delhi, however, new restrictions will be imposed soon.

Delhi CM had once again demanded to remove age barrier for the vaccination process. He said, “If we have enough doses and age bar is removed, we can vaccinate people within 2-3 months in Delhi. Currently, we’ve vaccine for 7-10 days. We need to remove age criteria & scale up vaccination. There will be no lockdown. New restrictions will be imposed soon,” as quoted by ANI.

Earlier, On April 5, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the relaxation in the age groups for Covid-19 vaccination.

In the letter, Delhi Chief Minister has urged PM Modi for relaxation in conditions for opening a new vaccination centres as well as relaxation in the age limit for vaccination and making it available for all. He also added that if the conditions for opening new vaccination centres are relaxed and vaccination is openend for all, then Delhi Government will be able to vaccinate all citizens of Delhi within 3 months.

In the last 24 hours, according to MoHFW, India has recorded a massive surge of 145,384 Covid-19 cases and India’s tally now stands at 13,205,926. Active cases are nearing the 1 million mark. India is now the 4th worst hit country in terms of active cases. India also witnessed a grim record of fatalities due to COVID-19 in a single day in 2021, which stood at 794. The death toll from the deadly infection stands at 168,467.

Delhi recorded 5,032 new cases in last 24 hours and no of fatalities are 39 and reached to total 11,196 deaths in Delhi.

The news cames minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meet with chief ministers and representatives of all states and union territories (UTs) and Prime Minister said that the focus should be on micro-containment zones and night curfews to control the spread of the pandemic.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the states and UTs to focus on effective “tracing and tracking” of the infection. He also added that all states should observe a ‘Tika Utsav’ (vaccination festival) from April 11 to April 14 and to encourage people to follow all necessary COVID-19 protocols.

India has reached milestone in administrating Covid-19 Vaccine, as the Indian government managed to administer more than 9 crore doses till now.

On the other side, India recorded over 1.26 lakh new COVID cases in the last 24 hours for first time since the beginning of the pandemic, setting an unprecedented, grim record during the second wave. Also, 685 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh administration has issued a notification regarding night curfew in six of its cities till the 17^th of April, 2021.

Punjab government had also announced night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM across the entire state till April 30 and had banned political gatherings too in the state. Delhi government had also announced night curfew with immediate effect till April 30.

As the cases are going up at a fast pace in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the stated to throw light over the issue.

PM Modi raised the discussion over the rising cases in states where the Coronavirus is taking hold once again plus he also stresses over the need to stay within restrictions along with the precautionary measures.

PM Modi said, “There’s a challenging situation in the country. People have gone even more reckless this time in comparison with the last year”.

He added, “In some states, the situation has gone ponderable now. Earlier, we didn’t have the proper resources but now, we have the vaccine, masks as well as needed experience.”

Prime Minister has focused on ‘Covid behavior’ and ‘Covid appropriate management’. He has also mentioned that ‘testing’ and ‘tracking’ play a gigantic role here in this case. He has even tried to assure the masses that ‘Testing’ will help decrease the Corona positivity rate by 5%.

Chandigarh administration restricts all non-essential activities between 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM till further notice

On Wednesday, April 7, Chandigarh District Magistrate Mandip Singh Brar issued circular for the new rules and regulation for Covid-19 restrictions.

Chandigarh DM said, “Prohibition on movement of individuals for all non-essential activities b/w 10:30 pm-5 am in Chandigarh. Order to come into effect from tonight till further orders. Hospitals, chemist shops & ATMs to remain open 24/7. No curbs on inter-state & intra-state of goods,” as quoted by ANI.

The circular quotes, “No person shall leave their homes or shall move on foot or by vehicle or travel or stand or roam around on any road or public places during above said hours.”

The circular further quotes, “There shall be no curbs on inter-state and intra-state movement of essential and non- essential goods. All vehicles/persons in bonafide transit (inter-state/intra-state) shall be allowed to pass, but only after due verification of point of origin and destination. Hospitals, chemist shops and A.T.M.s shall be allowed to remain open 24 X 7. Pregnant women and patients for getting medical/health services are allowed to roam here and there.”

All restaurants and eating places, hotels including food joints/courts in various mails failing within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh shall run only with 50% of their capacity and close by 10:00 P.M. The last order for food can not be accepted after 09:00 P.M.

Any breach of this order shall invite action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Witnessing a sudden spike in coronavirus cases, Punjab’s administration announced night curfew in the city from 10 PM to 5 AM till April 30th. Only essential services will be allowed to function during the curfew.

Punjab also adds to the list of state who is imposing night curfew in the state. On April 6, Delhi government also announced about imposition of night curfew with immediate effect until April 30. “Night curfew imposed in Delhi from 10 pm to 5 am with immediate effect till 30th April, in the wake of Covid-19 situation,” reports ANI. Essential services and emergency movements of vehicles will be allowed like in previous round of night curfew.

Punjab CM had already urged PM Narendra Modi to expand COVID-19 vaccination process as the report shows that UK variant is affecting more young people. Captain has also said that the process needs to be expedited, pointing that experts have found that existing Covishield vaccine to be equally effective against the UK variant – B.1.1.7.

India recorded over 1.15 lakh new COVID cases in the last 24 hours for first time since the beginning of the pandemic, setting an unprecedented, grim record during the second wave. 630 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Eight States account for 84.44% of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties of 297. Punjab follows with 61 daily deaths.

The deteriorating businesses have flagged concerns amongst the owners leading them to take over the streets and make demonstrations against the government’s decision.

The state of Punjab on Monday reported 72 more deaths due to Covid-19, the highest single-day spike this year. The toll in the state has spiked to 7,155.

Amid the rising number of cases in the state, the Punjab government has decided to extend the existing Covid-19-related restrictions till 10 April to curb the spread of the virus.

Under the revised guidelines, the government decided to extend the night curfew from nine to 11 such districts, including Ludhiana, Patiala, where the cases of infection are rising. The curfew will remain in place from 9 pm to 5 am.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has imposed partial lockdowns from Monday, shutting down malls, theatres, hotels, restaurants and imposing a statewide night curfew to curb the spread of the virus.

On Tuesday, April 6, Delhi Government announced imposition of night curfew with immediate effect until April 30. “Night curfew imposed in Delhi from 10 pm to 5 am with immediate effect till 30th April, in the wake of Covid-19 situation,” reports ANI.

Essential services and emergency movements of vehicles will be allowed like in previous round of night curfew.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister has urged PM Modi for relaxation in conditions for opening a new vaccination centres as well as relaxation in the age limit for vaccination and making it available for all. He also added that if the conditions for opening new vaccination centres are relaxed and vaccination is opened for all, then Delhi Government will be able to vaccinate all citizens of Delhi within 3 months.

On April 5, Delhi recorded 3,548 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, while 15 people died due to the coronavirus infection, taking the death toll to 11,096.

Yesterday, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain also talked about current preparation done by Delhi government to tackle the increase of Covid-19 patients in the city, he said, “Random testing is being done at a fast pace in Delhi. We are doing more than 80,000 tests daily. There were 86,899 tests done yesterday. We are doing 5 times more tests in Delhi than that of the national average. Micro-containment zones will be designated in areas with more than 2 cases,” as quoted by ANI.

Maharashtra government imposes ‘Night Curfew’ amid rise in COVID-19 cases

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday announced the imposition of a night curfew across the state from Sunday (March 28) amid a massive rise in COVID-19 cases.

For the past few days, the state has been gearing up to witness one of the most prominent festivals which will be held on Monday, however, at the condition of maintaining the guidelines imposed by the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government.

The recent ANI report suggests that the Maharashtra government has imposed a curfew between 8 pm – 7 am across the state in view of rising cases of COVID-19. The night curfew extends curbs, imposed as part of its Mission Begin Again initiative, till April 15. More than five people will not be allowed in any public place, including gardens and beaches, and violators will be fined.

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has struck fear amongst the masses and governments across the globe have adopted necessary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Announcing the details for a night curfew since March 28, CM Uddhav Thackeray on Friday reportedly assured that he has “no intention of imposing a lockdown”. He further shared his concerns about the growing number of patients and mentioned that the health facilities set up on a large scale across the state might also fall short.

In his statement issued on Friday, Maharashtra’s CM also instructed the district collectors to enforce lockdown if there is a need in the district where the number of patients is increasing rapidly.

Soon after the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced night curfew following the surge in COVID-19 cases, the film and television industry leaders have sprung into action and planning strategies to shoot during the night curfew and restricted timings.

General Secretary Ashok Dubey when contacted mentioned, “We have shot our movies and tv serials throughout the earlier night curfew however we will probably be calling a gathering of our advisors to sort out the current situation. There are so much of circumstances which are discovered on movie and television sets so we want to work out a plan to make our members secure”.

When requested if the shooting of massive songs and scenes with so much of folks could have to managed, Dubey mentioned, “We have already instructed our members to keep away from such crowded scenes up to now too and can warning them once more.”

JD Majithia of Indian Film and Television Producers Council stated,”We have already cautioned our members against large gatherings on film and television sets. In fact we have circulated a letter to our members where we have clearly stated that we are at the September 2020 situation again and therefore told our producers to avoid outdoor shoots immediately. Restrict number of junior artistes on sets. Ensure that all crew members are insured and restrict crew size to 33 percent like it was in July 2020″.
