Tata Motors launches Nexon variants with panoramic sunroof

Tata Motors has expanded its Nexon lineup by introducing a panoramic sunroof in both petrol and diesel variants, following the successful launch of the Nexon CNG with the same feature. This stylish addition is available in the top-tier Fearless Plus PS trim, enhancing the driving experience with a spacious and airy cabin.

Pricing and Variants

The Nexon with a panoramic sunroof starts at ₹13.6 lakh for the petrol manual (MT) variant, while the prices for other variants are as follows:

Petrol DCT: ₹14.8 lakh
Diesel MT: ₹15 lakh
Diesel AMT: ₹15.6 lakh

The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine produces 120 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine produces 115 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Although the 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT are available for both engines, the petrol engine additionally has the choice of a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Nexon’s features include an 8-speaker JBL sound system, wireless charging, cruise control, a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, an air purifier and more. Safety features include ISOFIX, TPMS, blind view monitor, three-point seat belts for all passengers, ESC, six airbags as standard on the range and more.

In a nation fascinated by the lure of SUVs, fierce competition is raging within each SUV segment. And one of the most popular is the sub-compact under 4m SUV segment. Tata Nexon is one of the most popular models in the segment. The Nexon will be undergoing a massive redesign. Tata Motors is working on this and most probably will be launching it next month.

In this article, we will be going through the redesigns that’s going to take place in the model.

Talking about the Front-end redesign, as per sources, the upcoming Nexon Facelift’s front end will be completely renovated. On top it will be showing off the design of a modern split headlamp with LED DRLs and on the front bumper, the main headlight assembly. The Nexon Facelift will be in line with other Tata SUVs with this new design. The front end is going to get a lot sharper and more futuristic.

For the redesigning of the rear end, it will also undergo a massive change. We will get to see much sleeker and sharper LED taillights. These lights are also joined by a middle LED brake light, bringing it to 2023’s standards.

Coming to the new alloy wheel design, the side profile of the Nexon facelift remains the same as the old model. What is new, however, is the all-new design of the alloy wheels. These new wheels are likely to have a two-tone finish. These wheels are expected to remain the same 16-inch size as the old model.

Talking about the interior of the car, changes will be seen in the dashboard, ac control, steering wheel and infotainment screen.

The dashboard of the Nexon facelift will be redesigned totally. The main layout will likely remain the same, but the overall design will be much cleaner. Tata has taken a minimalist approach to the new dashboard and interior. The interior of the Nexon facelift is inspired by the Tata Curvv concept. The interior is two-tone with interesting textures and new materials. The air conditioning vents are going to be different from the outgoing model.

Next is the all-new 10.25-inch touchscreen in the centre. This new display is taken directly from the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition. It has the latest Tata user interface. This is a huge upgrade over the outdated 7-inch screen of the outgoing model.

Now, comes the two-spoke steering wheel. Behind the brand new two-spoke steering wheel comes a brand new fully digital instrument cluster. The exact size of this screen is currently unknown; however, it comes with a large number of advanced graphics. It also displays some driver assistance functions and information.

For the new automatic air conditioning controls, the physical buttons for the automatic air conditioning system will be removed from the forthcoming Tata Nexon. Instead, it’s going to have two toggle switches and a capacitive touch button. The blower and temperature controls are to be controlled by two switches.

Besides the features that already available, a lot of new features, including a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors, wireless charger for smartphones, sequential turn signals, ventilated front seats, six airbags, a new electric sunroof, and a few others, will be added to the new Nexon facelift.

According to reports, an all new petrol engine will be offered in the Tata Nexon Facelift. The new engine will be a 1.2 liter turbo petrol unit. The exact power figures of this engine are not yet known.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the company is also planning to offer an all new generation of seven speed dual clutch transmissions. This engine will be mated to the new 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine. With the top-spec variants, the 7-speed DCT will be available.

On October 18, Tata Motors launched the five-seater mini SUV Punch at a starting price of Rs 5.49 lakh, the first all-new product launch by the company in 2021. The Tata Punch is placed below its Nexon and will battle against the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite, valued at Rs 5.6 lakh. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Mahindra KUV100 NXT are the two entry-level SUVs in India rated below the Punch.

Tata Motors started bookings for the Punch for Rs 21,000 on October 4. The Punch, planned on the platform used by the Altroz premium hatchback, obtained a crash safety rating of 5 from Global NCAP. The Punch will be available in four variants—Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, Creative—that Tata Motors calls personas. The top-end manual variant is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh.

The Punch is available in manual and automatic manual transmission (AMT) versions. The AMT alternative is valued at Rs 60,000 more than the manual variant. In addition, there are four customisation packs available starting at Rs 30,000.

Just like most other models rated below Rs 6.5 lakh, the Punch will come only with a petrol engine for now. The mini-SUV is powered by a 3-cylinder 1199cc engine that produces a peak power of 86ps. The SUV, available in seven colours, will arrive powered by the same 1.2 litres naturally aspirated petrol engine seen on the Nexon.

Depending on customer feedback, the company will keep its options open for turbocharged and fully electric versions.

The Punch arrives with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, engine start-stop, Eco and City drive modes, 90-degree opening doors, a flat floor in the rear, steering mounted controls, 7-inch infotainment system, rear camera, voice commands, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, auto-folding ORVMs and temperature control.

Tata Motors declares that the Punch has been examined for more than 2 million kilometres timed on 150 prototypes. These were run in hot, 50 degrees Celsius in Rajasthan, and cold conditions, minus 10 degrees Celsius in Ladakh. The car will is being at the company’s Pune facility.
