NEET Counselling 2020: Mop-up round result made public online for MBBS, BDS seats

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on Wednesday made the results for the mop-up round of counselling for MBBS and BDS candidates public. Candidates who are registered for the mop-up round of counselling can access their results online at mcc.nic.in.

“It is for the information to all the candidates that the Provisional Result for Mop Up Round of Medical/ Dental NEET UG Counselling 2020 is now available. The final result will be displayed on 17th December 2020. Any discrepancy in the result may be informed to MCC of DGHS through email on the Email id: mccresultquery@gmail.com till 10:00 AM of 17th December 2020, after which the result will be treated as Final. Candidates are requested to wait for the Final Result and Allotment Letter before proceeding for booking of tickets etc. for the purpose of reporting to the allotted college,” the official notice reads.

The NEET results have been declared for both the first and second phases of the exam, today on 16th October. Students can check and download their NEET scorecard by visiting the official website ntaneet.nic.in.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and flood in some regions, some students were unable to appear in the exam so the government had decided to conduct the examination in two phases. The first phase examinations were held in the last month while the second phase examinations were organized on 12th and 14th October.

The NEET examination is the entry gate to many precious medical institutions of India, the NEET paper had 180 Multiple Choice questions with 4 marks for each correct answer, thus there were 720 total marks. The negative marking is applicable in the NEET exam and 1 mark deducts for each wrong answer.

With lakhs of students appearing in the exam, it is possible to have the same marks for two or more candidates, for this, the NEET has a policy for this Tie-Breaking according to which the admission will be provided in such cases.

1) Candidates who have obtained a higher score in Biology in NEET 2020, will be considered first, over the other candidates

2) Candidates with a Higher Score in Chemistry will be ranked higher than others.

3) Candidates with the least number of incorrect answers in all subjects including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, will be chosen over the other candidates

NEET 2020: SC to hear pleas to postpone examination today

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on September 9 will hear a fresh plea regarding postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate, or NEET 2020, by 11 petitioners. A bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan will hear the plea in support of an earlier plea which was denied by the SC on August 24.

According to reports, 11 JEE and NEET students from 11 states earlier filed a petition in the Supreme Court for postponement of the JEE Advanced 2020 and NEET 2020.

The petitioners sought for more number of exam centres and urged for transport facilities to and from the examination centres.

The fresh plea has asked for increasing the number of examination centres and conducting NEET 2020 in more than one shift.

The Supreme Court has already dismissed NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 postponement demands twice. Recently, the court dismissed the review petition filed by six states, allowing the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct JEE Main and NEET exams in September as per schedule.

On August 14, the Supreme Court rejected another plea seeking online exam centres for students abroad.

NTA conducted JEE Main 2020 from September 1-6 for over 8 lakh engineering aspirants. NEET 2020, for over 15 lakh registered candidates, is scheduled for September 13, 2020.

Ramesh Pokhriyal asks Goa CM to provide security for Entrance Exams

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has requested Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to make elaborate security arrangements for conducting the medical and engineering entrance exams NEET and JEE in the coastal state. The state has set up 17 centers where 6,939 students would be appearing for these exams, the minister said in a tweet on Sunday.

The opposition Congress in the state has demanded that NEET and JEE examinations be postponed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I had an extensive discussion with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over holding of the prestigious NEET-JEE examinations in the state, Nishank tweeted.

“The state has set up 17 centers for 6939 students who would be taking these exams. I have requested CM to have elaborate security arrangements and facilities at these centers,” he said in another tweet. Three leaders of the Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) were detained on Saturday after they sat on a hunger strike at the Azad Maidan in Panaji, demanding that JEE and NEET examinations be postponed.

On Friday, ministers of six non-BJP ruled states moved the Supreme Court against its August 17 order allowing the exams. The top court had refused to interfere with the conduct of the medical and engineering entrance exams, saying life must go on and students can’t lose a precious year due to the pandemic.

Jharkhand opens hotels and lodges to accommodate JEE and NEET students

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (Main) (JEE-Mains) dates have been announced. NEET is supposed to be held from the 1st to the 6th of September while JEE is supposed to be held on the 13th of the same month.

In light of this, the Jharkhand State Government has decided to reopen hotels, lodges and restaurants. And the state is also going to allow public transportation.The Chief Minister of the state, Hemant Soren said, “Their admit cards will be deemed as movement permits. They will not need to take any separate permission from local authorities.”

This move comes as a part of Unlock 4.

JEE, NEET Exams: Supreme Court advocate writes letter to PM Modi seeking postponement

A Supreme Court advocate, Alakh Alok Srivastava has written to the Prime Minister’s Office, PMO seeking postponement of JEE Main and NEET exams. The exams are scheduled to be conducted online and offline in September across the country as per schedule after Supreme Court dismissed the plea to postpone JEE Main and NEET exams on August 17.

Alakh in his letter has mentioned various points as to why the exams should not be conducted. In point number 15 he urges the Prime Minister to postpone the NEET, JEE exams. He writes, “I am most respectfully requesting your good self to kindly postpone the NEET, JEE exams, scheduled to be conducted in the month of September 2020. The same may be conducted after a few months from now when the normalcy will be restored post COVID-19 crisis.”

He further plans to submit the letter to NHRC(National Human Rights Commission India) today, August 19 and is also thinking of approaching SC again next week. However, he has advised students to keep studying and prepare for the exams.

As per the previous schedule, JEE and NEET will be conducted next month.JEE Main exam will be conducted online from September 1 to September 6, 2020, across the country. NEET exam will be conducted offline on September 13 across 161 exam centres in India. Every year around 1.5 million students register for NEET exams out of which only 50,000 get the seats.

JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exam: Supreme Court dismisses NEET, JEE postponement plea

The request to postpone JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 has been rejected by the Supreme Court. The appeal, submitted by a group of students and parents seeking the postponement of the JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 entrance exams that are scheduled to take place in September 2020, was denied by the Supreme Court today.

In the context of increasing cases due to Coronavirus infection, a group of 11 students have appealed to the top court to delay the entrance exam. The petition requested that the examination to be postponed until the condition is controlled.

The SC has reported that while the whole academic year is at stake, they cannot hinder students’ futures.The court also stated that owing to the COVID-19 crisis life can not be put on stop.

JEE Main 2020 is scheduled to take place online from September 1 to 6, while NEET 2020 is scheduled to take place offline on September 13 across 161 exam centers in India.
