Karur Vysya Bank has received partial relief in a ₹40.34 crore tax dispute, with no impact on its financial or operational activities.

Karur Vysya Bank has received a partial relief in an ongoing tax dispute, as per an order from the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals). The appeal, filed against a demand of ₹40.34 crore raised by the National Faceless Assessment Unit for the assessment year 2022-23, has been partly allowed.

The bank is currently in the process of challenging the order in an appropriate forum, adhering to prescribed guidelines. The initial dispute was initiated on 12 April 2024, following the receipt of a demand order and the subsequent filing of an appeal before the first appellate authority.

Karur Vysya Bank remains optimistic about its position in the appellate forum. The bank believes it has adequate factual and legal grounds to substantiate its case, and anticipates that the entire demand will eventually be set aside, based on precedents and orders from appellate authorities.

The bank has stated that there is no impact on its financial, operational, or other activities as a result of this litigation.

Disclaimer: This article is based on a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE).
