Midway through 2021, a few of the year’s best Hindi films have got theatrical releases this year. While some of the big banner labels wait for that moment, we’ve remembered a slew of movie releases across streaming platforms like Netflix, ZEE5, Amazon Prime Video and more, that stood out for their stories as much as their storytelling.

Here are 5 best Hindi movies (so far) that deserve to be watched and appreciated

Nail Polish

One of the best Hindi movies to have released this year, Nail Polish is an engrossing watch. The legal thriller takes you into the grey area of human life and messes up with your brain. A decorated ex-army officer is accused of murdering migrant children and has a lot of proof to support the claim.
Tribhanga

Renuka Shahane’s directorial debut had a significant cast of Tanvi Azmi, Kajol and Mithila Palkar playing three generations of flawed women in a dysfunctional household. It analyses their journey to be the perfect parent, despite their personal unusual life choices. The Netflix film earned acclaim mainly for Shahane’s direction and performances.

The White Tiger

Set in present-day India, and among the greatly talked-about releases on Netflix, The White Tiger stars Rajkummar Rao, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Adarsh Gourav in the key roles. The film exhibits the surge of Balram Halwai, a poor driver of a rich family who utilizes his wit and cunningness to rise to the top as an entrepreneur. An adaptation of Indo-Australian author Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker prize-winning novel, The White Tiger cuts through the crap and lays the reality bare.

Pagglait

Pagglait delivers a satirical peek at Indian society’s traditional ways of handling loss and suffering. Sandhya’s husband of five months, Astik Giri, is deceased. While the whole household is dealing with the loss, the young widow finds it hard to mourn or alleviate even a single tear. The dark comedy soon delves into the details of the loveless relationship between the two, and how she rediscovers herself. With Sanya Malhotra in the lead, it’s a much-needed commentary on patriarchy.

Sherni

Vidya Balan’s latest movie Sherni, released on Amazon Prime Video, was one of those underdogs that won over both critics and its viewers for an outstanding amazing script and performance. Balan plays a forest officer who’s assigned the task of capturing a troubled tigress.

Arjun Rampal tests negative for Coronavirus, shall undergo tests after 4 days

Arjun Rampal was quarantined after his NailPolish co-actors Manav Kaul and Anand Tiwari had tested positive for COVID-19. The shoot of upcoming Zee5 film NailPolish was immediately halted by the production house and several retests of the crew were done. Now as per a recent development, Arjun has tested negative for Coronavirus about which he shared on his Instagram handle saying, “Tests in Covid negative. Thank you for your love and prayers. Have to retest in 4 days. But relieved 😅 #staystrong #staysafe”

Even after getting relieved about the negative test result, ‘Daddy’ actor still has to undergo another test in coming 4 days where till then he has been quarantined. The actor has thanked his fans for their prayers and love. Rampal had recently resumed his shoot for an upcoming thriller drama NailPolish on Zee5 where he also revealed his first look from the film.

Unveiling about the reality Arjun had posted a picture on Thursday captioning it as, “Bummer quarantined at home, as my co actors #ManavKaul and #AnandTiwari tested Covid positive yesterday on set. Production stopped shoot immediately as is the right thing to do. We all are being retested. Hopeful to resume soon. Testing times but we all have to be brave. Wish them a speedy recovery as I await my results as have been in close contact with them.”

Arjun Rampal gets home quarantined after ‘Nailpolish’ co-stars test positive for COVID-19

Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, who was last seen in the 2018 movie ‘Paltan’ had just started shooting for his next movie Zee5’s ‘Nailpolish’, alongside Anand Tewari and Manav Kaul. The movie is a courtroom drama directed by Bhargava Krishna. Described as a story focused on a murder trial, it showcases a journey of criminal discovery.

The actor took to his Instagram to share the news that he has home quarantined himself after his co-stars tests positive for COVID-19. Post this, he went to get himself tested for the virus. Arjun went on to the sets for the shoot of his upcoming movie. The production of the movie has come to a halt because of this recent discovery.

In his post, he said “Bummer! Quarantined at home, as my co-actors Manav Kaul and Anand Tiwari tested COVID positive yesterday on set. Production stopped shoot immediately as is the right thing to do. We all are being retested. Hopeful to resume soon. Testing times but we all have to be brave. Arjun Rampal resumes the shoot of Zee5’s ‘NailPolish’; shares his look with fans

Arjun Rampal returns on the sets of ‘NailPolish’ amid the pandemic situation, the film which is going to be a crime-drama project on Zee5. Actors like Manav Kaul, Anand Tiwari and Rajit Kapur are also going to be a part of this project in which Arjun Rampal will be playing the role of a lawyer. Rampal took it to his social media handle and released his look from the series.

Arjun Rampal has always been working for versatile roles in variety of films from Ra.One to Satyagraha and Rock On franchise to film Daddy. The upcoming NailPolish is his second venture with Zee5 as he also worked for suspense thriller-The Final Call.
