H.G. Infra Engineering receives letter of acceptance from MORTH for upgradation project worth Rs 763.11 crore

H.G. Infra Engineering Limited (HGINFRA) has announced the receipt of the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) for the development of a significant highway project in Uttar Pradesh. This project involves the improvement and upgradation of the two-lane highway with paved shoulders configuration of NH227B, covering a stretch from Bahuvan Madar Majha to Jagarnathpur (Design Km 160.200 to Km 224.040). The project, known as the “84 Kosi Parikrama Marg,” is a crucial infrastructure development aimed at enhancing road connectivity in the region.

The estimated project cost is INR 898.5 crores, and the project will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). HGINFRA’s bid project cost for this venture stands at INR 763.11 crores. The construction period for the project is expected to last for two years. This development marks another milestone for H.G. Infra Engineering, highlighting its growing footprint in infrastructure projects in India.

The project’s execution will contribute to the development of essential transportation infrastructure and bolster connectivity in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to have a significant impact on improving road safety, traffic flow, and overall regional economic development.

The government has announced a host of IT-based solutions for vehicle registration which includes the introduction of a new registration mark for new vehicles – the Bharat series (BH-series). Vehicles bearing the BH mark would not require a new registration mark when the owner shifts from one state to another.

“This scheme will facilitate free movement of personal vehicles across states and union territories of India upon relocation to a new state/ union territory,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) notification said.

Currently, a vehicle owner is allowed to keep the vehicle for not more than 12 months in any state other than the state where the vehicle is registered. A new registration is required to do so which should be done within a period of 12 months.

Moreover, the cumbersome process to register the vehicle involves documents including No Objection Certificate from the parent state, assignment of new registration mark after payment of road tax on pro-rata basis along with the application of refund of road tax from the parent state.

The provision to get a refund from the parent state differs from one state to another making it a burdensome process. “The facility will be available voluntarily to Defence personnel, employees of Central and State Government, Central and State PSUs; and private sector companies having their offices in four or more States/UTs,” it added.

The Ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has released circular on March 26 which states that validity of driving license and vehicle documents which had expired since February 1, 2021 has been extended till 30th June.

The official twitter account of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways tweeted, “Taking into consideration the need to prevent the spread of COVID-19, MORTH has advised State and UT Govts that the Fitness, Permit (all types), License, Registration or any other concerned document(s) may be treated to be valid till 30 June 2021.”

The government has extended the validity of documents like driving license (DL), registration certificate (RC) and permits till June 30, 2021due to the coronavirus pandemic. The deadline for the validity of these documents were earlier March 31, 2021. The ministry of road, transport and highways (MoRTH) issued an advisory to the states about the extension. The documents whose validity could not be granted due to the lockdown or had expired since February 1, 2021, or would expire on March 31, 2021, will all be given an extension, as told to states by MoRTH.

Driving license can also be renewed anytime now between one year before its expiry till one year after its expiry, a step which was taken will be likely to benefit citizens living away from their hometowns or who is visiting abroad. MoRTH said in circular that the decision “will help out citizens in availing transport-related services”.

Earlier advisories were issued in 2020 in the month of March 30, June 9, August 24 and December 27. The documents that will be eligible for the relaxation fall under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.

It may be the last advisory in view of the extension of vehicle document validity. The government has also asked states to implement this advisory in letter and spirit, so that citizens do not face any issues and don’t get disturbed.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told in Lok Sabha in a written reply on last Thursday that the rules and the passing percentage for the driving license test will be reformed. “In the case of a vehicle having a reverse gear, driving the vehicle backwards, reverse it into a limited opening either to the right or left under control and with reasonable accuracy is one of the parameters of qualifying in the driving skill test,” as quoted by news agency PTI.
