Director Aleya Sen explains why she cast Genelia Deshmukh and Manav Kaul in the ‘Trial Period’

Trial Period, directed by Aleya Sen, will star Genelia Deshmukh and Manav Kaul. On July 21, it will be available digitally.

In an exclusive chat with The Free Press Journal, she opened about many topics. When asked about her filmmaking journey so far, she shares, “In the deeper sense, if I tell you conceptually, art is subjective and people may perceive it differently. I would have given my best to my debut film but I am very sure that Trial Period will resonate with people. Maybe I have learned the skill to tell my stories in a better way. The core of it has always been something that I believed. I have developed better craftsmanship.”

Sharing further on telling a story in today’s time that is more liberal and satisfying, she explains, “The idea of this film has been in my head since 2013. In fact, this was the first ever script that I wrote. During the pandemic, I realised, there is a lot of acceptance amongst the audience. It was heartbreaking that I couldn’t make this film earlier and if I introspect, this is the right time to tell a story like this, perhaps, 10 years ago, a concept like this would have come under negative radar. I was sceptical about the script rather than lucky.”

Genelia and Manav are the lead pair in the film. When asked about this unusual pairing, she says, “Since I am from an advertising background, while writing, I don’t think of faces. My brain doesn’t work in the commercial aspect of filmmaking, it doesn’t come naturally to me but I might have an influence from a studio or financiers. Most of the people will agree with me now that Genelia comes most naturally to the character, her warmth, motherhood comes naturally.”

She further stated that, “I have always been a fan of Manav’s work. My benchmark has been Langda Tyagi, a character played by Saif Ali Khan in Omkara (2006) helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. He is the same actor who plays a flamboyant man in Dil Chahta Hai (2021). I was blown away with the transformation. I was inspired to cast Manav for this film.”

Emraan Hashmi and Nikita Dutta starrer ‘Dybbuk’ trailer out, premiering on Oct 29 on Amazon Prime

Actor Emraan Hashmi and Actress Nikita Dutta starrer upcoming movie Dybbuk, which is an Amazon Prime Video’s new original film, Trailer dropped online on Wednesday.

Emraan and Nikita will be seen playing a newly married couple. Who will be dealing with a miscarriage and then move into a new home? Nikita’s character in the movie, Mahi buys a centuries-old Dutch-made box. And opens it, to find a vial of what appears to be blood and human hair. Soon after, she and Emraan’s character Sam start having paranormal experiences.

Characters Mahi and Sam are told that the box is a ‘dybbuk’. It is used to trap dissatisfied spirits, and must not be opened at any cost. After which they seek the help of a rabbi to perform an exorcism. The official synopsis of the plot Dybbuk reads. “Mahi, a newly married woman, brings an antique Jewish box into her home.

When Mahi and her husband Sam begin to have paranormal experiences. They soon learn that the box is a dybbuk containing an evil spirit. The couple then seeks the help of a rabbi to unravel its mystery. Will they survive this ordeal before their child is born?”

Fans expressed their excitement about the movie Dybbuk in the comments section of the trailer on YouTube. The comments were, “EMRAAN x HORROR-THRILLER combo. Looking forward to it,” one wrote.

“After a long time, something good is coming. It looks quite interesting,” another wrote. “This is going to thrill. Wait for Emraan’s performance,” a third wrote.

This movie is written and directed by Jay K and is the official remake of the 2017 Malayalam blockbuster Ezra. Which starred Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Priya Anand, Tovino Thomas among the others.

Dybbuk also features Manav Kaul. It is jointly produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series. The film is all set to release on October 29 on Amazon Prime Video.

Karan Johar presents Ajeeb Daastaans teaser, to be released on April 16th

Karan Johar has shared a teaser of his upcoming venture, Ajeeb Daastaans. The series is an anthology of four films, created by four filmmakers including Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan and Kayoze Irani for Netflix.

Karan took to his social media handles to release the teaser of Netflix’s Ajeeb Daastaans and captioned it, “It’s here… A collaborative effort, yet uniquely individual. Arjun Rampal tests negative for Coronavirus, shall undergo tests after 4 days

Arjun Rampal was quarantined after his NailPolish co-actors Manav Kaul and Anand Tiwari had tested positive for COVID-19. The shoot of upcoming Zee5 film NailPolish was immediately halted by the production house and several retests of the crew were done. Now as per a recent development, Arjun has tested negative for Coronavirus about which he shared on his Instagram handle saying, “Tests in Covid negative. Thank you for your love and prayers. Have to retest in 4 days. But relieved 😅 #staystrong #staysafe”

Even after getting relieved about the negative test result, ‘Daddy’ actor still has to undergo another test in coming 4 days where till then he has been quarantined. The actor has thanked his fans for their prayers and love. Rampal had recently resumed his shoot for an upcoming thriller drama NailPolish on Zee5 where he also revealed his first look from the film.

Unveiling about the reality Arjun had posted a picture on Thursday captioning it as, “Bummer quarantined at home, as my co actors #ManavKaul and #AnandTiwari tested Covid positive yesterday on set. Production stopped shoot immediately as is the right thing to do. We all are being retested. Hopeful to resume soon. Testing times but we all have to be brave.
