Maharashtra Government to file curative petition in Supreme Court on Maratha reservation

Mumbai April 21: The Maharashtra government will file a curative petition in the Supreme Court after its review petition on Maratha reservation was dismissed on Thursday.

A high level meeting was held at the state secretariat Mantralaya on Friday to discuss the situation airing out of the dismissal of the review petition.
Emerging from the meeting, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said his government is determined to serve justice to the Maratha community.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the recruitment of 20,000 Anganwadi employees has been approved in the state and the recruitment will be started soon.

CM Shinde on Thursday evening at a meeting said that positive decisions on new mobile phones, insurance, classes for Anganwadis along with salary increase will be taken soon, and incentive allowance will also be given to the Anganwadi employees for their outstanding service during the Covid era.

After the election of Eknath Shinde as the Chief Minister and Devendra Fadnavis as the Deputy CM, the government of Maharashtra has taken up the work of developing of the state. The state cabinet which currently consists of two people had taken a decision of reviving of the old development plans. Which were implemented by the Fadnavis government. But were scrapped by the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government.

One of policies that were revived have given the power to the Agriculture Produce Market Committee(APMC) elections. This policy was implemented so that the National Congress Party(NCP) and the Congress cooperatives holding over the state bodies can be weakened.

Eknath Shinde’s government has stayed all proposals under the 2022-23 district plan until the New District ministers are appointed by the government. The total year’s allocation proposed by Ajit Pawar to the government was for 36 districts, a total of Rs. 13340 crores. It was reported that the MLA’s who had been against the Thackeray government did not receive the proper allocation of resources for their individual district development. They had also mentioned that petitions were filed but no response was received from either Thackeray or Ajit Pawar. Reports suggest that the district development plan is the primary concern of the giver net at this moment in time.

The other decisions included a pension for the political activists who were imprisoned during the emergency from 1975-1977. There were almost 3600 such activists who were eligible for such pensions from the state. This scheme of pensions was first started by the Fadnavis government but was later discontinued by the Thackeray government.

Another major decision taken by the new government is the overturning of the implemented water conservation departments contracts. Which were worth Rs. 5020 crores without even assigning them any reason. This was the third initiative that was earlier implemented by the Thackeray government but was overturned by the current government. Deputy CM Fadnavis had also proposed the resumption of his pet project “Jalyukt Shivar” project.

Another project that the Shinde-Fadnavis government have initiated is the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, as per the latest report they have given all the necessary clearances for the successful pass of this project with a fund of Rs. 1.1 lakh crore. The training plan that has been set states that the train is supposed to go through 12 stations in both states. The decision was anticipated as the new government was formed. The bill was fast-forwarded through the administrative cycle for its early implementation. In terms of the fare of the train, the Shinde government has decided that the fare will be the same. As the First AC train fare. Other infrastructural developments in terms of new highway projects between Mumbai and Delhi have also been initiated.

Eknath Shinde is supposed to be the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra after Uddhav Thackeray had resigned from office on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. As per the latest reports, Eknath Shinde would be sworn-in at 7:30 p.m. as announced by Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis.

Eknath Shinde along with the other rebel leaders had conducted a meeting today in Goa. Moreover, after which he had flown to Mumbai to meet the Governor. After the meeting, Mr. Fadnavis announced Eknath Shinde to be the next CM.

Eknath Sambhaji Shinde was a state legislative cabinet member in Uddhav Thackeray’s government. He has been a part of the legislative lawmaking body for quite a long time. Eknath Shinde’s Public service dedicated record

He joined the party in 1980 under the influence of Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray and began working as a Sainik. He took involved in a number of agitations during that time, including the Maharashtra-Karnataka Agitation on the status of the Belgauvi. Which resulted in his 40-day imprisonment. Shinde emerged as a vocal leader from the Thane-Polghar region. He was known for his aggressive approach toward the various issues of public interest.

He was also the Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Public Works (Public Undertakings) in Government Of Maharashtra.

His dedication to the various sides of the policy-making had helped him. To get elected into the Thane Municipal Corporation(TMC) in the year 1997. He soon rose up ranks and became the leader of the TMC house. As the leader of the house, he had taken part in the development of the whole Thane district. Hence, in 2004 he had contested an election from Balasaheb Thackeray’s constituency Thane and won with a huge margin.

After the 2014 elections, he had been elected as the Legislative Head of the Shiv Sena. And had subsequently become the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. Also, he become a minister in the Public Works Department. As well as taking the additional responsibility of the Health and Family Welfare Department after the 2019 election.

Eknath Shinde had recently organized a Coup d’état against the former CM Uddhav Thackeray. He left the party with 12 rebel MLAs who were not happy with the Shiv Sena administration. Therefore, currently Shinde has the support of almost 55 MLAs and will form the government of the state.

Critics mock Uddhav Thackeray as he quits CM post & Vidhan Parishad

Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray had officially resigned from his post as the Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra today evening, ending his tenure voluntarily.

Uddhav Thackeray also said he would be leaving his Vidhan Parishad membership.

He was the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra who served from November 2019 to June 2022.

In his statement, Uddhav Thackeray said, “I am resigning as the Chief Minister. I am not the one to be scared, but rather than spilling blood of the Shiv Sainiks on the streets, I will step down”.

Ahead of tomorrow’s floor test he resigned since it could have ended his tenure involuntarily by a 2/3rd majority.

Former Maharashtra CM & BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis along with state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil & other party leaders were seen at Taj President hotel in Mumbai for a legislative meeting. The said leaders shared sweets to “celebrate”.

On the other hand BJP IT department head Amit Malviya took a dig at Uddhav Thackeray with his tweet.

Uddhav Thackeray has not just lost his CMship but also tarnished the legacy of Balasaheb by entering into an unprincipled alliance with the NCP and Congress. But MVA’s collapse is a bigger loss of face for Sharad Pawar, who fancied himself as the architect of this alliance.

The Supreme Court has clearly said in its decision that Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will have to face a floor test in the Assembly scheduled on Thursday which is tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s floor test would have ended Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure involuntarily. Since, there was a confirmed 2/3rd majority against his government. Which would have dissolved his established administration forcing him out of power.

Inheriting power from his father the founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Keshav Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray became the President of the party and still holds the position as President.

It seems that an abdication was better a victory for Uddhav Thackeray who has informed that his duty to the people will continue.

CM Uddhav Thackeray writes to PM Modi requesting him to allow vaccination of all above the age of 25 years

On Monday, April 5 in evening, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to allow vaccination for all the person above the age group of 25 years.

Chief Minister wrote in his letter, “The second wave has hits our country and with our increased testing and absolute transparent methods of reporting, we are reaching out to each and every possible COVID-19 positive person to assist on the way to recovery.”

CM Uddhav Thackeray talked about the ‘break the chain’ programme which helps to curb the second wave of virus that is indeed stronger than the first wave we faced. He also talked about the vaccination drive programme which is going in India. He wrote in the letter that Maharashtra has taken Covid vaccination very seriously and the state is number one state in country in vaccination drive.

As of Sunday, April 4 , 2021, Maharashtra has administered 76.86 lakhs doses of Covid vaccine.

Maharashtra government has also requested for additional vaccine doses so that six districts of facing the surge of Covid can be covered on priority and in greater speed. Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Aurangabad can be covered in a matter of 3 weeks, for the population of above 45, if 1.5 crore doses are made available to the State by the Government of India.

Uddhav Thackeray also requested to lower the age to 25, as the states facing the surge in cases. However, if a larger number of cases would be much lower than the treatment than they need.

Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also wrote to the Prime Minister requesting him for relaxation in conditions for opening new vaccination centres as well as relaxation in the age limit for vaccination against Covid-19 and making it available for all.

Maharashtra government invites Tesla to invest in the state

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his Cabinet Minister son Aaditya are eager to convince Tesla to start operations in the State. This came in after the electric auto-maker Tesla opened a fully-owned subsidiary with its office in Bengaluru.

Aaditya, who is the minister of environment and climate change, held a video conference with the Tesla team in October last year. He, along with Industry Minister Subhash Desai invited Tesla to Maharashtra. Aaditya mentioned about wanting to push the electric mobility and sustainability in Maharashtra along with the investments. The Chief Minister has also been talking to various international players inviting them to invest in Maharashtra.

The State officials continued talks with Tesla, however, the company opening its office in Bengaluru has put the Thackerays in a tight spot.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief, Raj Thackeray has reprimanded Aditya for failing to convince the company to start operations in Maharashtra. The opposition parties also targetted the Thackerays saying that they have failed to keep their word.

According to the state reports, the government will continue to have a dialogue with Tesla following that the company is still keen to have operations in other states besides Karnataka.

Maharashtra becomes eighth state to confirm bird flu outbreak

Three days ago, Murumba village, Maharashtra which is about 500 km from state capital Mumbai became the epicentre of bird-flu as 800 chickens were found dead and Maharashtra’s National Laboratory have confirmed the cause of death to be the bird flu.

“Dead crow samples from a place in Beed have been found positive for H5N8. Both H5N1 and H5N8 are types of avian influenza. Culling of all birds will now be undertaken up to a 1km radius of the infected zone in Parbhani where the poultry samples were found positive. However, only surveillance will be continued in Mumbai, Ghodbunder, Dapoli and Beed,” Maharashtra animal husbandry commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh said. Deepak Mugalikar, collector of Parbhani district said that culling of 8000 hens has been ordered in the village concerned.

While Maharashtra happens to be the eighth state to report the outbreak of avian influenza Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has called for an urgent meeting to review the outbreak of bird flu in the state.

Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat are the seven other states which had earlier confirmed Avian Influenza as the cause of the recent bird deaths. Haryana has reported the most number of bird deaths with more than 4 lakh birds dead in the last few weeks.

As per the central government, states have been requested to build awareness among the public and avoid the spread of misinformation regarding bird flu.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey’s dog handler tests positive for Coronavirus

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhar Thackrey’s pet dog handler has tested positive for COVID-19. After this, all the close contacts of the handler and other staff at CM’s bungalow, ‘Mantoshree’ were tested and most of the reports were negative. The residence and locality of the CM are being regularly sanitized. As of now, we do not know whether the CM and his family were tested. However, they are advised to take all the necessary precautions as the handler has been taking care of the dog for years and the dog roams in the bungalow.

“One person tested positive for COVID-19 and was shifted to a hospital, every staff members who work in Matoshree and his close contacts have been tested, almost every report came negative but few reports are awaited. As a precautionary measure, the area is being sanitised daily. Nobody from the CM’s family will be home quarantined as none of them came in direct contact with the person,” said Ashok Khairnar, Assistant Commissioner of H East Ward.

The pet dog has not been tested for Coronavirus as there is no evidence of animals getting infected from the virus. “As of now, there is no literature available saying the virus can be transmitted from animals to humans or that they are carriers. But it can pass from humans to animals and is curable with some antibiotics. As the handler tested positive, the animal he looks after must be tested. If the dog tests positive, it cannot transmit the disease to humans,” Senior Veterinarian Dr JC Khanna said.
