Hezbollah on Friday sharply criticised what it described as “American dictates” and foreign interference in Lebanon, while urging Lebanese authorities to halt what the group called “free concessions” that undermine national sovereignty and dignity.

In a strongly worded statement issued amid escalating regional instability, Hezbollah said it rejected “any American or other dictates, pressures and trusteeships” aimed at shaping Lebanon’s political future or forcing decisions that, according to the group, threaten the country’s sovereignty.

The statement comes at a time of heightened tensions across the Middle East following the widening crisis involving Iran, the United States, Israel and armed groups operating across the region. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran and remains one of the most powerful political and military forces in Lebanon, has repeatedly accused Washington of attempting to reshape regional politics through pressure campaigns and military alliances.

“Hezbollah rejects any American or other dictates, pressures, and trusteeships that attempt to impose a course and fate that stabs at the sovereignty of Lebanon,” the group said.

The organisation also criticised Lebanese authorities, calling on them to stop what it described as a series of “free concessions” and the “squandering of rights and the nation’s dignity.” The remarks appeared to reflect growing internal political friction within Lebanon over how the government should respond to increasing international pressure and regional security concerns.

Hezbollah further urged Lebanese authorities to cooperate in preserving what it called “national constants” and demanded efforts to bring “the aggression to a complete and final halt.” Although the statement did not directly identify the aggression being referenced, it comes amid continuing military tensions and security concerns linked to Israel’s northern border, Gaza-related fallout and wider regional confrontations involving Iran-aligned groups.

Lebanon has faced mounting political, economic and security challenges in recent years, including financial collapse, political paralysis and repeated cross-border tensions. The current Middle East crisis has further increased fears that Lebanon could become more deeply entangled in regional conflict dynamics.

The latest Hezbollah statement also follows growing international diplomatic activity involving the United States, Gulf nations and European powers seeking to prevent a wider regional war. Washington has maintained strong support for Lebanon’s official institutions while also continuing sanctions and pressure measures targeting Hezbollah-linked networks.

Analysts say Hezbollah’s remarks reflect increasing concern within Iran-aligned groups over diplomatic negotiations and possible regional realignments emerging from ongoing U.S.-Middle East engagements. The rhetoric also signals the group’s intention to position itself as a defender of Lebanese sovereignty amid domestic political divisions and external pressure.

The situation remains highly sensitive as global powers continue efforts to reduce tensions involving Iran, Gulf shipping routes and broader security risks across West Asia. Observers warn that any further escalation involving Hezbollah, Israel or Iran-backed groups could significantly destabilise Lebanon and the wider region.
