Films set to release during the festive season

COVID-19 pandemic impacted the film industry in a huge way but nothing can stop them from wanting to entertain their fans. The film industry is all geared up for the festive season. There are several films scheduled to release by December 2021 and fans can’t wait to enjoy the big screen experience again. Till the time, many films are being released on OTT platforms. In this way, families can gather around a television and watch movies of their favourite actors. Since people are encouraged to avoid crowded places, this is the only way they can enjoy movies during the festive season.

Here is a list of movies that are scheduled to release during the festive season.

1. Laxmmi Bomb

This film is scheduled to release on 9th November 2020. The makers have decided to release it on Disney plus Hotstar. This horror-comedy film stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. It is directed by Raghava Lawrence. This film will release during the Diwali break and people can enjoy it with family and friends.

2. Ludo

This film is scheduled to release on 12th November 2020 and it coincides with Diwali. It will be released on Netflix. It is an anthology dark comedy crime film. The star cast of this film is Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra. It is directed by Anurag Basu.

3. Chhalaang

This film will release on 13th November 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. It is a black comedy film. It is directed by Hansal Mehta and the star cast of the film includes Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha.

4. Coolie No.1

This is a remake of the 1995 film, Coolie No.1 and is directed by David Dhawan. This comedy film stars Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan with Paresh Rawal as a supporting actor. It is scheduled to release on Christmas 2020 on Amazon Prime Video.

5. Maidaan

This film is a biographical sports film featuring Ajay Devgn and Priyamani in the lead roles. It is scheduled to release on 13th August 2021. Fans can enjoy the Independence Day long weekend by watching this film which tells the story of the golden era of Indian football. It is directed by Amit Ravindrenath Sharma.

6. Laal Singh Chaddha

This film is scheduled to release on Christmas 2021 and the star cast of the film is Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vijay Sethupathi. It is a comedy-drama film and is directed by Advait Chandan.

Laxmmi Bomb: Makers receive legal notice for using ‘offensive and derogatory’ film title

Akshay Kumar‘s movie, Laxmmi Bomb, has been receiving a lot of hate and opposition ever since the trailer has been released. In the recent updates, the makers of the movie have received a legal notice from the advocate of Shri Rajput Karni Sena, who are demanding the makers to change the title of the movie.

As per the reports by Zoom TV, the legal notice was sent by advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, representing Shri Rajput Karni Sena and the notice says that Laxmmi Bomb is being considered as ‘offensive and derogatory’ to Goddess Laxmmi. The legal notice also says that the title “Laxmmi Bomb” has been chosen deliberately by the makers to show ‘disrespect’ and lower the ‘dignity’ of the goddess. The notice also adds that the title sends a false message on a very large scale to the society about the “ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion.”

Laxmmi Bomb is the Hindi remake of a Tamil hit movie, Muni 2: Kanchana, which starred Raghava Lawrence. Akshay Kumar is to be seen in a sari in the movie and while sharing the experience with comedian Maniesh Paul, he was quoted saying, “In one word, sari is the most graceful outfit in the world. Wearing a sari has been one of a kind experience for me. Frankly speaking, donning a sari is very difficult. During the initial days of the shoot, my sari would often unwrap by itself while shooting. I wasn’t able to move properly while being in a sari, forget about dancing and fighting in it. Thanks to my costume designer who would come to my rescue in every break to rearrange the plaits and balance the pallu.”

Laxmmi Bomb, starring Akshay and Kiara Advani in the lead, is scheduled to release on 9th November on Disney Hotstar. In the film, Akshay’s character is possessed by a ghost of a transgender person.

The Laxmmi Bomb team, in their effort to widen their target audience have offered transgender activist a lump sum amount of money to become a part of their team. The trio- Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Laxmi Narayan Tripathi graced the Kapil Sharma Show. Akshay even took to Twitter to share a picture of the trio striking a cute pose together. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is a Transgender Rights Activist and a Bharatnatyam dancer in Mumbai. This woman is the first transgender rights activist to have represented the Asia Pacific in UN. Laxmi has also been a part of the eleventh season of Bigg Boss.

In the trailer of Laxmmi Bomb, Akshay plays the role of a transgender ghost who “lives life queen size”. Apparently, Khiladi Kumar is the only major actor to not only have played the part of a transgender on the big screen but has also opened the doors for the third gender as their target audience. As per reports claimed by SpotboyE a source close to the team said,”Laxmiji was roped in on Akshay Kumar’s behest. She is quite kicked by the idea of a Bollywood superstar playing a transgender.”

Laxmi Narayan Tripathi had earlier taken to Twitter to applaud Akshay Kumar and his team for the trailer launch of Laxmmi Bomb.

Akshay Kumar considers 9 to be his lucky number. That’s why the actor is making sure his movie releases on 9th November. A continuation of this belief is the decision that the first song of the movie titled ‘Burj Khalifa’, will be releasing on 18th October as 1 plus 8 equals 9. Now, a report of Bollywood Hungama states that the actor had an elaborate plan of unveiling the song which the production house has said no to.

The report said, “Akshay Kumar suggested to the producers, Fox Star Studios, that they should release the ‘Burj Khalifa’ song at Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE. He believed that it’ll add to the film’s buzz. Also, viewers have seen film promotions happening online since the beginning of the lockdown. Hence, even they would have lapped up the idea. Moreover, Dubai is a safe place with limited Coronavirus cases. Akshay, who recently commenced and even finished a shoot in the pandemic in the United Kingdom, is aware of the precautions to be taken to pull off such an event without anyone falling ill. Hence, he came up with a detailed plan for this promotional activity, replete with safety measures.”

However, the plan stands canceled as the production house did not find it commercially viable. The report further added that “The Fox Star Studios team liked the idea but found it commercially unviable. They realized that flying Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, and others in a private jet to Dubai, accommodating them in a luxurious hotel, booking the Burj Khalifa for the promotions, taking care of safety and sanitization etc would cost somewhere around Rs. 65-70 lakhs. The management didn’t feel the need to spend so much at a time when the financial condition of the industry is not up to the mark. Hence, they politely declined the idea. Akshay Kumar understood their point of view and agreed.”

The movie has gotten itself into quite a lot of controversies and a group of netizens is already calling for a boycott of the movie. It will be available to stream on Disney + Hotstar from 9th November.

Akshay Kumar‘s Laxmmi Bomb has gotten into yet another controversy as a group of netizens accused the movie of promoting ‘love jihad’. Now, the same group of trolls has drawn a comparison of the actor to the journalist Arnab Goswami, claiming that the latter is the true hero.

The group of netizens praised how Arnab Goswami “revealed” the true face of Bollywood and has brought the case of Sushant Singh Rajput a step closer to justice. They then went on to add that Akshay Kumar hasn’t done anything but defend the industry and defame Hinduism.

Fox Star Studios HALTS all future projects, terminates 18 employees amid shutdown rumours

Last week, there were rumours that Disney Star India was not in good business. After Fox Star Studios CEO, Vijay Singh, resigned in March, Uday Shankar announced that he will resign in December as Star and Disney India chairman and Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific president. From the past four months the media team has reduced the studio’s 25-member team to five members only. The upcoming movie Brahmastra starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is the only project currently working in the studio.

Fox Star Studios terminates 18 employees from the unit due to overlapping duties and because of the pandemic shutdown. In August, an employee was handed the termination letter stating, “We had expected [the termination] because the studio stopped sanctioning films in India since the takeover. Brahmastra is our last project. Though they were in talks to back Karan Johar’s Takht, the studio decided against it. We were paid our dues with a severance package of three months”. Another employee who was terminated in September, says that the media giant wants to change business tactics instead of writing the vertical off. It is also said that the studio will continue to invest in Hindi series, regional language shows, and direct-to-net films.

Disney employee also mentioned that this year there was an average business as the movies Chhapaak and Panga had a good run at the box- office. The box-office run of Baaghi 3 was cut short by the pandemic. The studio was not faring well. The only unit making money is Disney+Hotstar due to its sports content. We are hoping the platform’s subscription base will increase post the release of Bhuj and Laxmmi Bomb. Of its six releases last year, the studio enjoyed box-office success with Housefull 4, Chhichhore and Mission Mangal while the poor run of Kalank, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and The Zoya Factor apparently had average business.

The most awaited trailer of Laxmmi Bomb released today, i.e. 9th October. Akshay Kumar didn’t fail to surprise us yet again. Akshay Kumar, who is seen playing the role of a transgender in the film, didn’t believe in ghosts earlier. He wants to impress Kiara Advani’s family and reaches her house. After reaching, he feels that the house is haunted. He promises to wear bangles, if he sees a ghost in Kiara Advani’s house. With funny punchlines and scenes in between, he notices paranormal activities in the house, which is when he plans a full escape plan which leads to him acting as a transgender.

He tries to fight for the ghost and take revenge on her behalf. The theme of the film revolves around revenge, comedy and Akshay Kumar’s charm. Kiara steals the show with her mesmerising looks!

The movie will also have a theatrical release in cinemas of Australia, New Zealand, and the UAE simultaneously. Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror-comedy, Laxmmi Bomb will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar this Diwali on 9th November. According to the reports by Bollywood Hungama, it was discovered that the actor will organise a one month campaign for the film’s release, with a trailer launch event on 9th October. This will be followed by the release of three songs over a period of 30 days.

According to a source, “Akshay initially wanted to host a trailer launch event at a private theatre with select few journalists as the scale and content of the film makes for a big-screen experience. However, eventually, he dropped the idea of a public event, but will now be holding a preview screening of the trailer for the select few journalists over the next two days acting as a build-up for digital launch on 9th October.”

The source added that “Laxmmi Bomb is special to Akshay and the ones who have seen the rushes say that he has outperformed himself in the character that’s possessed by a transgender ghost. He would have loved to have a theatrical release, but the unusual times forced them to take this step. He is planning to have virtual press conferences, and also tie-up with the biggest cricketing event of the world, IPL, for film promotions. Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb to stream on Disney+Hotstar from 9th November, to release in theatres overseas

Akshay Kumar is a superstar who is well known to take on unique projects. His upcoming movie, titled ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ which is a horror-comedy, is also a remake of the Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. The film has been written and directed by Raghava Lawrence and is his Hindi directorial debut.

The movie was scheduled for a release on 22nd May but got postponed due to the pandemic. The makers had then declared that they would skip a theatrical release and would release the movie on Disney+ Hotstar on 9th November 2020. Now, the production house of the movie, Fox Star Studios, took to their Twitter handle to reveal that the movie will have a theatrical release in Australia, New Zealand, and UAE. The teaser showcases Akshay Kumar’s transition from a man to a woman. It begins with a loud message as to what happens when the ‘outcast becomes outraged’.

Laxmmi Bomb is the official Hindi remake of hit Tamil film Kanchana. Helmed by Raghava Lawrence, who had also directed and starred in the original movie. The plot revolves around a man who is afraid of all things supernatural, but through a twist of fate, he is forced to confront his fear as his body gets possessed by the spirit of Laxmmi.

Laxmmi Bomb is the third project of Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. The duo first collaborated for Akshay’s production Fugly which was Kiara’s debut hindi film. They later shared screen space in Good Newwz.

Laxmmi Bomb was set to release during Eid this year, but it got postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

There has been huge speculation about the release of Akshay Kumar‘s Laxmmi Bomb for a while now. Initial reports claimed that the film would release on OTT platform on September 9 to coincide with Akshay’s birthday. Other news reports suggested that the release has been postponed to Diwali 2020.

Recently, it was reported that the makers have put the digital release of the film on hold. They have decided to wait for theatres to reopen.

The film was actually supposed to hit theatres in May on the occasion of Eid, the lockdown paused that plan. Towards the end of June, Disney+ Hotstar announced that it will release on the platform, though there was no confirmation of an official release date.

Pinkvilla has quoted a source saying that the film will premiere online on Diwali 2020. The date that has been decided tentatively is November 13, 2020. The source also said that a bit of post-production including some patchwork is pending. Once Akshay returns from London after shooting for Bell Bottom, they will wrap those portions.

Rumours were rife that the release date was delayed to avoid backlash on social media considering the nepotism debate raging in the country right now. However, Bollywood Hungama has claimed that director Raghava Lawerence and his team felt the need to shoot for some patchwork scenes for continuity purposes. “Following Akshay’s approval, they decided to shoot at a studio this month. It is just a brief two-day shoot with some character actors for the post-climax scenes, which is more on the humorous side. Akshay won’t be a part of the patch-work,” a source said to Pinkvilla.

While there is no confirmation from the makers, some fans of Akshay are rejoicing that the film will be screened in theatres.

The horror-comedy, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani is directed by Raghava Lawrence and produced by Cape of Good Films, Tusshar Kapoor, Shabinaa Khan, and Fox Star Studios.
