Khaali Peeli, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan to release in theatre, as cinemas reopen from 16th October

Cinemas in India will reopen by 16th October with restrictions that will include 50% seating capacity. Vivek Oberoi‘s ‘PM Narendra Modi’ and ‘Khaali Peeli’ staring Ananya Panday, Ishaan Khatter will be the first films to release in the multiplexes. Other movies like Thappad, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Malang, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and War will join the list in cinema halls.

Anubhav Sinha, director of the movie Thappad which was released on 28th February, believes that the shows were cut-short by the coronavirus pandemic. Meena Iyer, CEO of Ajay Devgn Films has also contributed to rerun the movie. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan directed by Hitesh Kewalya also contributes saying that reruns are not for box office glory. While theatres in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and some other states will continue to remain shut, business in the other states will resume following the guidelines.

The Ministry of Home Affairs made an announcement on Wednesday. The guidelines will be issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting which means that movie theaters will be back in operation before the festive season. 50 per cent of their seating capacity, for which, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be issued by the ministry, the Government of India mentioned it in the latest guidelines.

Ananya Panday, Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli barbered by Censor Board; dialogues having ‘virgin’ and ‘item’ trimmed

Khaali Peeli starrer Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter is releasing on 2nd October 2020 in limited theatres in Bengaluru and Gurugram. Since the release was no longer limited to just Zee Plex, it was sent to the Central Board of Film Certification and returned with some inessential edits.

CBFC’s editing was not just limited to expletives but also removed dialogues referring to ‘virginity’ such as ‘Dus saal tak virgin raha; hold karke baitha tha’ and ‘virgin bhramachari’. Some lustful gazes at the character played by Ananya were removed along with ‘explicit and sensuous visuals’ of the song Dil Mera Tehas Nehas. Words like ‘harami’ and ‘item’ were either omitted or replaced. For instance, ‘item’ with ‘ladki’, ‘r****i’ with ‘aunty’ and ‘Maa ki’ was replaced with ‘Bhains ki’.

The CBFC asked the makers of Khaali Peeli to show a disclaimer at the beginning saying, “no one related to this film supports objectification and exploitation of women and children.” They also asked them to increase the font size of the cancer warning.

The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat from ‘Pataal Lok’ and was directed by Maqbool Khan, who is doing his debut as a director. Produced by Zee Studios, Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra, it was announced in September 2019 and supposed to be released in June 2020 but got delayed because of the lockdown.

Ananya, has been active on her social media even before her first film. Her upcoming film with Ishaan Khatter- ‘Khaali- Peeli’ is about to get released on OTT platform. Recently actress shared a BTS picture from the sets of the same film in which she is seen holding a toy gun, about to shoot. However, netizens have taken a jibe on her post remembering her ‘struggle’ comment in an old interview.

Ever since the trailer of the movie has dropped, fans have been giving mix reactions to this on-screen duo. The song ‘Beyonce Sharma Jayegi’ was trolled a lot and was not very well received by the audience who even took a dig on some of the offensive lyrics of the song, which were later changed. The movie is about to release on 2nd October and the young actors are promoting the film thoroughly.

Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Pandey starrer ‘Khaali Peeli’ is all set to realease on 2 October’20 on Zee Plex. Whilst it’s song Beyonce Sharma Jaayegi is not well received by the people for having racist undertones, compelling the makers to change tweak it to “Tera Dekh Ke Nakhra Duniya Sharma Jayegi.”

Amid all the backlash, the film’s new song ‘Tehas Nehas’ is all set to be out today.

The song has been composed by Vishal and Shekar and sung by Shekhar Ravjiani and Prakriti Kakkar.The lyricist is Kumaar and choreography is by Rajitdev.

This Maqbool Khan directorial features Ishaan Khatter as a ‘chalu’ taxi driver and Ananya Pandey as a dancer.

Pooja(Ananya Pandey) steals money and jewels to escape the brothel and bumps into Blackie(Ishaan Khatter) who is a half murder accused, agrees to drive her to ‘freedom’ in exchange for a hefty amount. From there starts their mad ride in his taxi known as Kaali Peeli in Mumbai – with a peculiar number plate, 6969 followed by a series of chase and escape – with the goons on Pooja’s trail and the cops on the goons’ trail.

After being called out for its racist lyric, the Beyonce sharma jayegi track from Maqbool Khan’s film, Khaali Peeli, starring Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter, is now ‘Duniya sharma jayegi’, this is what we get to hear on Spotify.

The makers initially toyed with the idea of changing the spelling of Beyonce to Beyonse, but finally settled for Duniya. In the song, Khatter’s character compares Panday with Beyoncé, singing ,’Ho tujhe dekh ke goriya, Beyoncé sharma jaayegi’.

The makers seemed to have realised that Beyonce’s name is trademarked, which could have lead to legal issues. The track is given by Nakash Aziz and Neeti Mohan and composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Kumaar and Raj Shekhar are the lyricists. Directed by Maqbool Khan, romantic action drama Khaali Peeli will be premiered on a digital release on 2nd October.

Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter are paired for the first time in Maqbool Khan’s Khaali Peeli, and due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the film will be released on OTT. Following the trailer of the film, the makers dropped the first song of the film titled ‘Beyonce Sharma Jayegi’, and soon after its release, netizens trolled the song for its sexist lyrics. Later, the director of the song apologized for offending anyone and also gave a clarification that the lyric in question was never intended racially.

Adding further the director had stated that the term ‘goriya’ has been so traditionally used in Indian songs to address a girl, that it didn’t occur “to any of us to interpret it in the literal manner.”
For the unversed, Beyonce has trademarked her name, barring it from using her name commercially and so the makers are likely to rework on the lyrics of the song to avoid an international legal battle.
Today, Ishaan shared a photo on social media wherein he is posing amid the nature and he captioned this post as, “Real world shiz”, Ananya Panday soon commented on the photo asking for credits because looks like she was the photographer for Ishaan as she wrote, “Nice pics who clicked ️…”

Director Maqbool Khan’s ‘Khaali Peeli’, starring Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday, will be premiered on Zee Plex making it the latest Bollywood film to relinquish a theatrical release. Zee Plex is a recently unveiled pay-per-view service.

Taking it to their official social media handles, Ishaan shared the good news and wrote: “Apan bhi ready hai aur apni काली-पीली bhi. Toh public, abhi tum bhi ho jao ready, aa rahi hai mad ride #KhaaliPeeli, 2nd October ko sirf @zeeplexofficial par!”, whereas Ananya shared, “Mad ride ki sawari karni hai, toh ready rehneka 2nd October ko! Under the direction of Maqbool Khan and produced by Ali Abbas Zafar, Zee Studios and Himanshu Mehra, Khaali Peeli is a romantic action film which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat as the antagonist and Satish Kaushik in an important role. It will mark Ananya and Ishaan’s first project together on which fans are totally looking forward to. On the morning of 24th August, the teaser of most awaited movie, Khaali Peeli was released. Maqbool Khan directorial features Ishaan Khatter as a ‘chalu’ taxi driver and Ananya Pandey as a dancer.

The teaser shows Pooja, who is a dancer stealing money and jewels to escape the brothel and bumps into Blackie(Ishaan Khatter) who is accused of half murder. He agrees to drive her to ‘freedom’ in exchange for a hefty amount. From this point on, the mad ride begins in his taxi which is known as Kaali Peeli in Mumbai – with a peculiar number plate, 6969 followed by a series of chase and escape – with the goons on Pooja’s trail and the cops on the goons’ trail.

Khaali Peeli also stars Pataal Lok actor, Jaideep Ahlawat , is directed by debutant Maqbool Khan and is backed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar, Himanshu Mehra and Zee studios. It is written by Yash Keswani and Sima Aggarwal.

Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khatter have both had 2 releases in the past. Ananya’s both films ‘Student of the Year 2’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Who’ have done great at the box office, whereas Ishaan’s first film ‘Beyond the Clouds’ failed to impress the audience. His second film ‘Dhadak’ did great numbers and impressed many.

Ananya and Ishaan were ready for their third release together ‘Khaali Peeli’ and were left with only 2 days of shooting before the lockdown. Hence, the film’s makers have planned to complete the shooting in August. The producer Ali Abbas Zafar, wants to release this film directly on an OTT platform. Mid-Day’s source says “We have a few sequences remaining to be shot with Ishaan and Ananya. Director Maqbool Khan intends to film the portions around August 20 and is in the process of zeroing in on an indoor studio for the two-day shoot. The post-production work on the action thriller has been going on in full swing in the past few months.”

Furthermore, the source said “Khaali Peeli is a typical masala entertainer. Ali sir has initiated talks with streaming platforms for its direct-to-web release.” This will be one of the many movies which will now skip the theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Producers are unsure when the theatres will reopen hence an OTT release comes to their rescue.

Apart from ‘Khaali Peeli’ Ishaan Khatter has ‘Phone Bhoot’ co-starring Katrina Kaif and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Whereas Ananya Panday will be starring opposite Vijay Devarakonda in a film tentatively titled as ‘Fighter’ and she is also in Shakun Batra’s next film with Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi.

Ever since the lockdown is imposed, theatres are shut too. No film is allowed to premiere in the theatres due to lockdown. Due to this, every film is making its way towards an OTT release. A gossip was abuzz that Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter starrer Khaali Peeli is on a wait and watch scenario on that front. While rumours say that Ishaan and Ananya’s action drama may directly release on an OTT platform, producer Ali Abbas Zafar has reacted on the same for the first time.

In an exclusive conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Ali Abbas Zafar cleared the air by saying that the film is yet to be completed and they will think the platform for release after completing the film.
He said, “Right now, we are focused on completing the film. After that, it will be wait-and-watch. We don’t know when the theatres will open and at what capacity they will run.” Further, talking about the film, Ali shared that it is a commercial film and praised Ananya and Ishaan’s energy while shooting it. He said, “It’s a commercial potboiler and the fresh pairing of Ishaan and Ananya makes it interesting. They brought a lot of youthful energy to the shoot. Everyone had a blast and it shows in the edit.”

Ali Abbas Zafar is the co-producer of the film Khaali Peeli with Zee Studios. On the other side, Ananya and Ishaan have been spending time at home. While Ananya has been sharing updates on social media of her shenanigans, Ishaan too has been resorting to a similar practice.
