Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat to collaborate for upcoming action-thriller ‘Jewel Thief’- Report

Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat are all set to share the screens in their upcoming action-thriller movie. The heist drama is titled Jewel Thief. According to recent reports, the film will be streaming on Netflix. It is produced by Siddharth Anand under the banner of his production house Marflix.

Jewel Thief marks Saif and Siddharth’s reunion after their highly acclaimed movies Salaam Namaste and Tara Rum Pum. Saif’s upcoming movie’s name strikes a chord with Dev Anand’s movie, which also had the same name. However, Siddharth was the one who chose this title as he found it suitable for the story.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, it was stated that “While the film is titled Jewel Thief, it has got nothing to do with the original film starring the legendary Dev Anand. Siddharth Anand had this title registered under his banner and believes that the title is apt for the subject of this Robbie Grewal directorial.”

The movie will showcase a striking conflict between Saif and Jaideep. It also offers an immense sequel of action-packed scenes, which makes the film more appealing and gruesome.

The shooting for Jewel Thief has already been concluded. It is slated to be released in the latter half of this year. Netflix has initially bought the streaming rights of the movie at a hefty price of Rs 60 crore.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Siddharth Anand is currently basking in the success of Fighter. The film features Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi in key roles. The movie had its theatrical release on the 25th of January and is highly appreciated by the masses.

The filmmaker has also been signed by YRF Studious for the much-anticipated film Tiger vs Pathaan, which stars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. It is slated to be released in 2025.

However, during Jaideep’s college years, he was serious about joining the Indian Army and attempted the SSB interview. When repeated appearances for SSB failed, he decided to pursue acting. He was a member of the theatre society in college and performed in a few theatre shows in Punjab. He discovered his calling while working there and decided to pursue a career as an actor.

Jaideep believed he was ready for the industry after completing his graduation and FTII training. It was only after he relocated to Mumbai that he was able to do so. He went to a lot of auditions and had a hard time getting even modest roles. After a long period of struggling in the industry, he was finally spotted in Gangs of Wasseypur, albeit in a minor capacity, and began to receive work.

He is picky about his next project, especially following the success of Paatal Lok. He understands that people will now view him through a different lens. It will be more critical of his next effort. All he wants is a strong and challenging character for himself. He enjoys challenging himself so much that he spends his free time practicing and polishing a different performance.

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat had worked in movies produced by Karan Johar like Raazi and Ajeeb Daastaans. In one of his recent interviews, the actor said that KJo is fully aware of what he wants to show and is very emotional about showing a dream world to his audience.

In an interview with RJ Siddharth Kanan, the actor was asked to describe his Raazi co-star, Alia Bhatt, and Karan Johar. He said that Alia is ‘superbly talented and superbly vulnerable’. “Vulnerability as an actor, you can approach her. As a human being, you can discuss anything to make the scene work. She’s an amazing listener. When you say something to her, she listens to you, pinpoint. She’s an amazing co-actor to work with,” he added.

Talking about Karan Johar, he said, “He once said that he never wants to show the audience realism, he wants to show them a dream world; I liked that. He knows what he’s doing. But I have never worked with him as an actor, but definitely under his productions. If I ever get the opportunity, I’ll find out what he’s like on set. But everyone has heard stories about how emotional he is about his ‘dream world stories’.”

Arjun Kapoor’s performance as Pinky Dahiya in Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has earned praise. Despite the fact that the picture did not have a longer run at the box office due to the COVID-19 lockdown, it is receiving a lot of attention on Amazon Prime Video. While Arjun is being praised for his performance, his acting career has been fraught with ups and downs. Arjun told PeepingMoon.com about being criticized by people while he celebrated the well-deserved success of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. He stated that his body and personal decisions were being questioned only as result of the failure of his films.

“Because my films didn’t do well, my physicality was being questioned, my personal choices were being questioned, I was being maligned, I became an easy target and I am somebody who has grown up in the industry so I keep my mouth shut and my head down. I don’t give it back the way others do. I’ve always maintained a distance and dignity. It was going in a direction that I could sense that I was being targeted by certain people for fun. Perhaps they don’t realise how much they could have affected me. I’m stronger than that because I have seen hell and come back. But I learnt my lesson and said that I’m going to do this because I believe there is an audience there and I don’t want to get into this trap of believing this silly nonsense in the middle,” Arjun told PeepingMoon.

Surprisingly, Aditya Chopra was the one who recommended Arjun’s name to Dibakar for Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. “I had informed Adi sir that I wanted to shoot this sort of film with Dibakar,” Arjun said. After Ishaqzaade, I wanted to make something in that genre. I did in Gunday with Adi sir and YRF. He gave me certain stuff, and while we discussed them, I told him what I wanted to achieve and what I am capable of achieving if I put my heart and soul into it. Dibakar sir would not have known about it because I wasn’t making the kind of film that he might have liked at the time. He’d have no idea how drawn I was to this side of filmmaking, or what I was capable of and willing to do to get to his way to do work. I’d like to think he was sold on our first meeting because we spent about 6-8 hours together and somewhere along the way, the ice-breaking must have made him realise I’m a Dibakar Banerjee actor rather than a typical mainstream actor. I don’t blame people for believing that, but it’s unfortunate that I have to meet new people all the time to Change it.People just perceive Boney Kapoor ka ladka hai and does certain kinds of films. My father is the same person who has made Company and I am the same person who has done Aurangzeb and Finding Fanny. There are both ends of the spectrum. My father has done different kinds of films and so have I. Commerce has a way of sticking. Perhaps my directors have been more in the commercial way so Dibakar didn’t know any better. After meeting me, his opinion changed. Adi sir deserves credit for believing in me before Dibakar sir. He believed in me since the day I got my first film.”

Karan Johar presents Ajeeb Daastaans teaser, to be released on April 16th

Karan Johar has shared a teaser of his upcoming venture, Ajeeb Daastaans. The series is an anthology of four films, created by four filmmakers including Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan and Kayoze Irani for Netflix.

Karan took to his social media handles to release the teaser of Netflix’s Ajeeb Daastaans and captioned it, “It’s here… A collaborative effort, yet uniquely individual. Presenting #AjeebDaastaans with 4 exceptionally talented #DirectorsOfDharma, coming together to weave 4 individual stories that are stranger than reality itself.”

He added, “I can’t wait to see how each one paints their canvas with their own shade of cinema and storytelling! Some stories take you places, but these 4 will take you somewhere you never thought you’d be. #AjeebDaastaans premieres 16 April, only on Netflix.

Ananya Panday, Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli barbered by Censor Board; dialogues having ‘virgin’ and ‘item’ trimmed

Khaali Peeli starrer Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter is releasing on 2nd October 2020 in limited theatres in Bengaluru and Gurugram. Since the release was no longer limited to just Zee Plex, it was sent to the Central Board of Film Certification and returned with some inessential edits.

CBFC’s editing was not just limited to expletives but also removed dialogues referring to ‘virginity’ such as ‘Dus saal tak virgin raha; hold karke baitha tha’ and ‘virgin bhramachari’. Some lustful gazes at the character played by Ananya were removed along with ‘explicit and sensuous visuals’ of the song Dil Mera Tehas Nehas. Words like ‘harami’ and ‘item’ were either omitted or replaced. For instance, ‘item’ with ‘ladki’, ‘r****i’ with ‘aunty’ and ‘Maa ki’ was replaced with ‘Bhains ki’.

The CBFC asked the makers of Khaali Peeli to show a disclaimer at the beginning saying, “no one related to this film supports objectification and exploitation of women and children.” They also asked them to increase the font size of the cancer warning.

The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat from ‘Pataal Lok’ and was directed by Maqbool Khan, who is doing his debut as a director. Produced by Zee Studios, Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra, it was announced in September 2019 and supposed to be released in June 2020 but got delayed because of the lockdown.
