Today is World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to increasing awareness and starting conversations about mental health issues. Recently, Aamir Khan and his daughter Ira Khan released a video message about mental health issues.

Ira and Aamir took to Instagram to release a video in which they urged people to take mental health issues seriously and seek the advice of experts.

Aamir said in the video, “Maths seekhne ke liye hum school ya teacher ke paas jaate hain. Agar baal kataana ho to hum salon ya dukaan jaate hain jaha par wo insaan humaare baal kaatta hai jo us kaam mein trained hai,” he says in the video.

He went on to say that there are many things that we cannot perform on our own and must engage the help of a skilled professional to fulfil. He provided examples and added that, just as people seek the services of a carpenter for furniture work or a doctor when they are sick, those wanting mental or emotional support should seek help from a mental health specialist as soon as possible and without hesitation.

The actor added, “Meri beti Ira aur main pichhle kai saal se therapy ka laabh utha rahe hain. Aur agar aapko lagta hai aap bhi maansik ya jazbaati takleefon se guzar rahe hain, to aap bhi kisi aise vyakti ko dhund sakte hai jo professional hai, trained hai, jo aapki madad kar sakta hai. I had to make sure I was in the right mind space. Also, it depends on what kind of person you are.”

Ira further continued, “So, I wanted to put out a disclaimer because a lot of people who care about me are often worried about me posting about my private life and personal journey publicly. And it’s true you need to be careful about who you say what to. You need to make sure you are comfortable with it. If you need to make sure if you are doing it on social media then you’ve thought it through and you are sure that you want to do that. So think about it and do what works for you.”

Actor Aamir Khans’ daughter Ira Khan was asked, ‘how did you beat depression, on her verified Instagram profile. She is quite active on social media, as she oft interacts with the audience. As usual, she conducted an interactive session by dropping a story ‘Ask Me Anything’, on Friday afternoon.

During the interaction session, she also spoke about ‘depression’. Subsequently, a fan asked her, “How did you beat depression?” To this, Ira shared a video and stated that “Get to know yourself. Figure out what you like, what you don’t like. Who you like, who you don’t like and what you want and then you’ll try and start to live your life that way. I think.” A video was also shared with #mentalhealth.

Meanwhile, Ira had revealed once about her depression for more than 4 years. Ira posted a video on World Mental Health Day the previous year and revealed that she was dealing with depression. Star kid also quoted, “A lot has been going on, a lot of people have a lot to say. Things are confusing and stressful and simple and okay but not okay and… life altogether. There’s no way to say it all in one go. But I’d like to think I’ve figured some stuff out, or at least figured out how to make it slightly more understandable. Actor Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce on Saturday. The former couple had been together for 15 years and have a son named Azad, they have decided to co-parent their son. A fews later Aamir Khan’s daughter from his first wife Reena Dutta, Ira Khan shared a mysterious Instagram.

Ira, 24 took to her Instagram and shared a story that seems to have a cryptic meaning behind it. In the picture, Ira can be seen lying on her bed dressed in a dark blue tank top along with her eyebrows raised. The caption of the story read, “Next review tomorrow!….What’s it going to be?”, she added. She also added a pastry G.I.F leaving the viewers in wonderment.

For the unversed, Aamir Khan had two kids from his first marriage with Reena Dutta, a son Junaid and a daughter Ira. They separated in 2002. Later, on December 28, 2005, Aamir Khan tied the knot with Kiran Rao. After announcing separation on July 3, 2021, the duo is now looking to a new journey of their as co-parents.

They issued a joint statement saying, “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Days after Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan celebrated her 23rd birthday, she took to Instagram and shared a video talking about her aspirations as a child where she aspired to solve the issue of corruption and end unemployment among other important crises prevalent in the society. She spoke about how she dreamt of traveling villages and checking at the employment rate and then starting her own company to hire people. While she had many dreams of helping the people, she was told to focus on her studies which would further help in accomplishing her goals.

Ira said, “At different ages, I wanted to solve corruption. I was like ‘We will find all the people who are corrupt and we will tell their bosses that they are corrupt and then we will get rid of corruption’. I wanted to end unemployment so I wanted to go to all the villages and find out what villagers were good at doing and get them employment in companies that can actually, or make my own company so that I can actually pay them what they need.”

She added, “I wanted to, lots of people were on a diet and they were eating six egg whites a day, but not eating the egg yolks. I was like, ‘we should collect the egg yolks and feed it to the dogs so that the dogs don’t go hungry’.”

To fulfil her dreams, Ira had a plan. She was told to do her bit at the time by focusing on her studies. She said, “I was like, ‘okay, I’ll study, I’ll grow, earn lots of money and I will donate it to NGOs.”

Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan has now again shared her battle with depression with her followers on her Instagram.

In a new video post on her Instagram, the star kid opened up about the traumatic experience of depression. She can be seen talking about how she still has issues in believing in her self worth.

She said, she doesn’t do drugs, doesn’t harm herself or drinks too much. She just drinks loads and loads of coffee when she is depressed.

Ira continued that she does not have immediate life-threats. That is not how her depression looks like.

“Me: So now what? Therapist: I don’t know. There are lots of parts to me. This is a conflict between the two of them that very seriously affects my attempts at healing from my overall depression. But the burnouts are getting longer so now I have to try harder. The plan is to reduce the frequency and intensity of my burnouts. I don’t need to change my entire being and functioning. Working a lot isn’t a bad thing, trying to do a lot isn’t a bad thing – not always. There’s a point after which it gets unhealthy. That’s what I need to find. That balance. Because working also brings me joy. #mentalhealth,” the Diva’s caption stated.

Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan opens about being sexually abused at 14, says ‘I moved on and let it go’

Aamir Khan‘s daughter Ira Khan, who had opened up about struggling from depression, has shared another video talking about her experiences. She shared an IGTV video talking about her struggle with depression and addressed her “privilege”, as she spoke about her growing up years. She also mentioned that her parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s ‘amicable separation’ did not traumatise her.

In the video, Ira revealed that she was sexually abused at the age of 14 and that her parents had helped her through the difficult phase. She said, “When I was 14, I was sexually abused. That was a slightly odd situation in the sense I didn’t know whether the person knew what they were doing. I sort of knew them. It wasn’t happening every day.”

She added saying that it took about a year for her to understand that the person knew what they were doing and she immediately emailed her parents and got herself out of the situation. She further added on that she wasn’t scared of her past experiences.

“I wasn’t scared. I felt like this wasn’t happening to me anymore and it is over. I moved on and let it go. But it was again not something that has scarred me for life and something that could be making me feel as bad as I was feeling when I was 18-20 years old.” Ira said in the video.

While speaking on her parents’ divorce, she said, ” When I was young, my parents got divorced. But that didn’t seem like something that would traumatise me because my parents’ divorce was amicable. They are friends, the whole family is still friends. We are not a broken family by any means. My parents were very good about being parents to Junaid and me, even after divorce and when people would say ‘Oh I am so sorry to hear about your parents’ divorce, I would be like ‘What are you talking about? It is not a bad thing. Another privilege I didn’t realise. It could be something that could scar you. It didn’t scar me.”
