South Korea’s foreign ministry has reported a fire and explosion aboard a Korean vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, with 24 crew members on board and investigations now underway into the cause and extent of the damage.

According to the available verified reports, officials have not yet determined whether the incident was caused by an external attack or by an internal malfunction. South Korea said it will remain in contact with the countries concerned as it works to establish what happened and assess the condition of the ship.

The Strait of Hormuz has remained a sensitive shipping corridor in recent weeks, with South Korea repeatedly engaging Iran and other relevant parties to secure safe passage for its vessels. NCW sets up probe panel over sexual abuse allegations at TCS Nashik unit

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate serious allegations of sexual harassment and abuse at a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO unit in Nashik, Maharashtra.

According to an official press note, the Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of media reports highlighting alleged incidents involving sexual harassment, rape, and attempts at forced religious conversion of women employees at the facility.

The committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed inquiry into the matter and is scheduled to visit the site on April 17, 2026, to carry out an on-the-spot assessment.

The development follows a series of complaints and FIRs registered in Nashik, which have brought to light allegations of sexual harassment and coercion within the workplace. Investigations by local police are ongoing, with multiple arrests already made in connection with the case.

The case has drawn widespread attention, prompting action from multiple authorities. The NCW stated that it remains committed to ensuring a safe and dignified working environment for women and will take necessary steps based on the findings of the inquiry.

The PIL has been accepted by the Chief Justice of the High. As per the latest reports received from the reporters on the ground. The recent updates clear that it is very likely that a date can be given by the High court by today evening.

The student bodies and the organizing team responsible for the event have been asked to testify in court if the PIL moves further. The CBI investigation to be conducted is also on similar lines as it would question the management policies of the university which had brought the singer and also of the state police against whom doubts have been raised for not working efficiently.

The veteran singer had passed away on May 31st after a live performance at the Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, West Bengal. The singer was 53 when he passed away.

Recent speculations over the death of the singer had revealed that the singer was feeling unwell. And had also mentioned it to his producers and others. The singer was seen to have been quite distressed and continuously wiping his face with a cloth.

Questions have been asked about the whole set-up at the Nazrul Mancha during the concert. The organisers have complained about the lack of proper management. And the security forces needed to control the whole crowd that had gathered in the auditorium on 31st.

On September 15, the Income Tax Department of the Mumbai branch had started in a survey on the house of Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, reported special correspondent, Tarun Sharma at Moneycontrol. The investigative wing of the department has been mapping surveys on Sood’s house since morning.

Earlier on June 16, 2021, the Government of Maharashtra has appealed to the Bombay High Court to conduct investigations on prominent figures like Sonu Sood and INC MLA Zeshaan Siddique on the grounds of procuring and manufacturing of the most demanded medicine Remdesivir vials which were used to treat patients battling from COVID-19.

In context to the actor’s philanthropic move to help patients with Remdesivir vials, the Maharashtra government commented: “During the investigation, they were directed from A to B, and then from B to C and we finally ended up at shops inside Lifeline Medicare Hospital. It had come from Cipla in Bhiwandi. This is what we know so far. This is outside government allocation. An inquiry is pending.”

Assam: Case registered for the police personnel killing, MP Sri K Vanlalvena alleged for conspiracy

GP Singh, Special DSP, Assam Police, has registered a case under the relevant sections of IPC in connections to the killing of 6 police personnel of Assam on July 26.

On July 27, 2021, the Dholai PS Case No 236/21 was registered under the sections of 120 (B), 447, 336, 379, 333, 307, 302 IPC read with Sections 25 (1-A) of the Arms Act and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984 for the killing of Assam Police Personnel on July 26.

GP Singh in a tweet mentioned that the incident had occurred at the Inner Line Reserve Forest Area of the Cachar District in Assam, along the National Highway 306, 1.7 kms south of Lailapur PP.

Mr Singh added that the Assam Police had prepared for a picture gallery which was been further updated of the Mizoram Police personnel and the civilian miscreants who had fired at the police personnels on July 26. He added that they would be brought to law.

Mr. Singh also mentioned in his tweet that the Assam Police team including the officers of the CID were leaving for Delhi to take a lawful action against the conspiracy behind the incident in light of the media interview of Sri K Vanlalvena, the MP of Rajya Sabha, and the indication of his active role in the conspiracy.

The Special DSP also added saying that the Assam Police had announced for a reward of Rs 5 lakhs for information leading to the arrest of each of the individuals who were involved in the barbaric killings of the Assam Police personnel on July 26.

Apple’s Wistron facility, Hyderabad workers vandalise workplace over poor pay & high working hours

Apple Inc is carrying out an investigation whether its Taiwanese contractor Wistron Corp flouted supplier guidelines at a violence-hit iPhone manufacturing facility near Bengaluru, the Economic Times reported, citing people familiar with the development.

Over the weekend, several media reports elaborated on workers dissatisfied about working hours and payments trashed a Wistron factory and about 100 people were detained. Wistron is one of Apple’s top global suppliers. In India, it makes iPhone 7 and the second-generation iPhone SE devices.

Two battery-powered buggies were set on fire, six vehicles were damaged and glass windows and doors of the facility were smashed by iron rod-wielding workers.

“The accident was caused by unknown persons bursting in and causing damage to the plant with unclear intentions. The company always abides by the law, and fully supports and is cooperating with relevant authorities and police investigations,” the company said in a statement to the Taipei Stick Exchange.

Apple’s supplier guidelines make it compulsory for third-party staffing agencies to pay workers and provide them other benefits as per rules and on time, the Economic Times said, adding it will examine if there was any disparity in wages agreed and paid to the staff.

Reuters received no immediate response from Apple. Wistron said in a statement it was “deeply shocked by the incident.”

Supreme Court orders fresh investigation into the death of National Law University student in 2017

Delhi: Supreme Court orders fresh investigation into the death of a National Law University (NLU)-Jodhpur student in 2017.

The student was found dead on railway tracks near the University on August 14, 2017. He had reportedly gone out with these friends to an establishment near the campus on a Sunday evening. While his friends returned to the campus, he told them that he would come later. When he was contacted later in the night, he assured his friends that he would come back soon. His body was discovered the next morning.

A bench headed by Justice Rohinton Nariman directs that a fresh investigation be carried out and also sets aside a closure report filed by Rajasthan Police in the case.

The Court observed that the report was an “eye-wash” and that the case needed to be re-investigated.
