International travelers with Monkeypox symptoms to be sent LNJP Hospital

International travelers arriving in Delhi with monkeypox symptoms. Such as high fever and back pain will be sent to the LNJP Hospital from the airport, report states.

The decision was taken in a review meeting that was chaired by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Monday.

Furthermore, the Delhi government on Monday also asked district authorities. And officials concerned to comply with the Centre’s guidelines on management of the infection. The Guidelines reiterate that referral arrangements from airport/port to identified link hospital need to be established or strengthened.

After today’s decision, travelers experiencing symptoms like high fever, back pain and joint pain at the IGI Airport. Thus, will be sent to the isolation ward at LNJP Hospital. Which has formed a special 20-member team to deal with Monkeypox cases. Then, the samples of suspected patients will be sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune. While the district administration officials will quarantine the family members and carry out contact tracing.

Currently, in the first identified case of Monkeypox, a 34-year-old person from west Delhi was found infected. He is admitted and quarantined in LNJP Hospital and will take at least a week to fully recover.

The airport health teams currently screen patients with suspected Covid-19 symptoms considering both the viruses share quite a few similar symptoms.

Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin receives approval for emergency use by WHO: Reports

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recognised Covaxin, the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Indian pharmaceutical firm Bharat Biotech Ltd, for emergency use, reports announced on November 3.

The Technical Advisory Group of WHO, which gathered earlier today to determine Covaxin, has approved Emergency Use Listing (EUL) status for the vaccine, news agency PTI reported citing sources. An official statement from the WHO and Bharat Biotech was anticipated by the time preliminary reports surfaced.

Bharat Biotech had addressed the WHO on April 19 soliciting EUL status for its jab and presented data linked to its safety, efficiency and stability in July. The global health body’s consent will promote more convenient international travel for those who took the Covaxin vaccine, as they would not be obliged to endure the harsh travel restraints inflicted on unvaccinated passengers.

On Wednesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a high-level US visit, and at a meeting at Global COVID-19 Summit, Modi asked for mutual recognition of vaccine certificates.

Prime Minister Modi said “We also need to focus on addressing the pandemic’s economic effects. To end that, international travel should be made easier, through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates. As newer Indian vaccines get developed, we are also ramping up the production capacity of existing vaccines. As our production increases, we will be able to resume vaccine supplies to others too and for this, the supply chains of raw materials must be kept open.”

Currently, the world’s largest vaccination campaign is being run by India and about 25 million people got vaccinated on a single day. Over 800 million vaccine doses have been delivered at the grassroots level healthcare system and now more than 200 million Indians are completely vaccinated. Focusing on the economic effects of the pandemic we should make international travel easier through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates.

“Earlier this year vaccine production has been shared by India to 95 other countries, along with the UN as peacekeepers. The world has also stood with India at the time when India was going through the COVID-19 second wave, for all that solidarity and support extended to India, I thank you all,” said PM Modi addressing the pandemic’s economic effects.

UAE approves to resume commercial flights between India & Kuwait from today, check travelling guidelines here

From today, Direct commercial flights between Kuwait and India will get resumed, the nation’s civil aviation authority said to Hindustan Times. Last month, the decision to resume flights was announced but there wasn’t any time frame.

During the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in India by April 24, all direct international flights from India were suspended by Kuwait.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that the commercial international flights will get resumed with India and has relieved travel restrictions on transit passengers, along with other nations in Southeast Asia and Egypt. The international flights will also start operations which also includes other Countries apart from India like, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

In September according to the civil aviation ministry’s notification, India started flights between 49 cities under an air bubble arrangement with 18 countries. Special international flights can be operated by their airlines between their territories under an air bubble pact.

Following are Travel guidelines for international flights to Kuwait:

All passengers need to be fully get vaccinated with any one of the COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Only the citizens of Kuwait, their first-degree relatives, and their domestic workers will be allowed to enter the country.
Before departing to UAE, all passengers will have to present a negative PCR test result within 48 hours.
Using the UID and phone number the passengers are mandated to download and register on the Alhosn app.

Trump lifts COVID-19 Europe travel restrictions, Biden aides to block move

Impeached US President Donald Trump on Monday signed an order to lift the restrictions on travellers from Europe and Brazil that had been aimed at stopping the spread of the Coronavirus to the United States.

Soon after Trump’s order was made public, President-Elect Biden spokeswoman Jen Psaki tweeted, “On the advice of our medical team, the Administration does not intend to lift these restrictions on 1/26.”

She added, “With the pandemic worsening, and more contagious variants emerging around the world, this is not the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel.”

Until Biden acts, Trump’s order ends restrictions the same day that new COVID-19 test requirements take effect for all international visitors. Trump is due to leave office on Wednesday.

Last week, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed an order requiring nearly all air travellers to present a negative Coronavirus test or proof of recovery from COVID-19 to enter the United States starting on January. 26.

The restrictions Trump revoked have barred nearly all non-U.S. citizens who within the last 14 days have been in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the 26 countries of the Schengen area in Europe that allow travel across open borders.

In mid-March last year Trump signed orders to restrict most visitors from Europe, while the Brazilian entry ban was imposed in May.

Psaki added, “In fact, we plan to strengthen public health measures around international travel in order to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19.” The Biden transition did not immediately respond to a request to comment on if it planned to expand the countries covered.

OCI cardholders from US, UK, Germany and France can now enter India says Ministry of Home Affairs

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders from the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and France will be permitted to visit the country, The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Friday. The permission is applicable to those countries with which India has signed the ‘air bubble’ arrangement. The ‘air bubble’ are temporary travel arrangements between two countries to facilitate the restarting of commercial passenger services since regular international flights are suspended due to COVID-19. India has created transport bubbles with the US, UK, France, and Germany at present.

Other foreigners from these countries can also make use of Indian visa facilities for business, medical and employment purposes.

The ministry also intends to extend the scheme to other countries as well so that Indian nationals can visit other countries and foreign nationals can travel to India without restrictions.

Any Indian holding any type of valid visa of such countries may be permitted to travel to the country concerned, provided there is no travel restriction on the entry of the Indian citizen in that country, said the Home Ministry.

The ministry also said that existing restrictions on incoming passenger traffic who come through the immigration check posts will not be applicable to the citizens.

It will be the responsibility of airlines concerned before issuing of tickets and boarding pass, to ensure that no travel restrictions are imposed on the Indian nationals to enter the concerned country.

Movement of cargo, goods, and supplies in any vehicle will also not be affected by the existing restrictions.

The decision has come at a time when international travel continues to be banned in the unlock phase 3 and the government plans to gradually ease the restrictions in place now.

However, all COVID-19 related matters, guidelines of the Ministry of Health & Family shall be adhered to, added the Home Ministry.
