Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, closed the calendar year 2024 with a significant achievement, selling 59,11,065 (5.9 million) motorcycles and scooters. This marks a 7.5% increase from the 54,99,524 units sold in 2023.

The company also posted a stellar performance in its global business, achieving 49% growth. Hero MotoCorp launched eight new models catering to regional preferences and expanded its presence in Southeast Asia and Brazil.

A key focus for the company in 2024 was electric mobility, with the VIDA V1 e-scooter driving over 46,662 units in sales. The company now operates more than 3,100 charging points across India, ensuring a smoother riding experience for customers.

Hero MotoCorp’s strategic partnerships, including expanding collaboration with Harley-Davidson, further solidified its growth trajectory. The company also plans an exciting range of new product launches in 2025, including electric vehicles and premium motorcycles, aligning with evolving market needs.

In the opening trade on February 2, shares of Hero MotoCorp experienced a robust surge of nearly 4%, reaching Rs 4,715.80, buoyed by the company’s impressive sales performance in January 2024.

As of 11:43 am, the shares continued to trade 3.58% higher at ₹4,750.70, reflecting sustained market enthusiasm.

Hero MotoCorp reported a significant 21.6% jump in total sales for January 2024, with 433,598 units sold compared to 356,690 units a year ago. The domestic market contributed substantially to this growth, with sales rising by 18% to 420,934 units from 349,437 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. Additionally, the export segment witnessed a remarkable surge of 74.6%, reaching 12,664 units compared to 7,253 units in the same period.

Hero MotoCorp faces stock downturn as December sales dip

Hero MotoCorp encountered a subdued morning on the BSE on Wednesday, December 3, 2023, as the automaker witnessed a Year-on-Year (YoY) decline in sales for the month of December.

The stock of Hero MotoCorp saw a decrease of 2.03%, or Rs 83.00, trading at Rs 4005.80 on Wednesday, reflecting the impact of lower-than-expected auto sales reported by the company, falling short of Zee Business research projections.

In an update provided on Tuesday, Hero MotoCorp revealed that its auto sales for December 2023 amounted to 393,952, a drop from the 394,179 reported in the same month in 2022. Contrary to Zee Business research estimates of 438,240 sales for December, the company’s actual figures fell below expectations.

Breaking down the sales data, motorcycle sales for December 2023 decreased from 356,749 to 354,698, while scooter sales during the same period witnessed an increase from 37,430 to 39,294.

Adding to the developments, Hero MotoCorp announced a collaboration with Ather Energy on Tuesday for the establishment of an interoperable fast-charging network throughout India. This partnership aims to enable Electric Vehicle (EV) users to seamlessly access both VIDA and Ather grids across the country. The combined network is set to cover 100 cities with over 1,900 fast-charging points.

As of 12:40 pm, Hero MotoCorp shares were trading 2.57% lower at ₹3,983.10, indicating the market’s response to the company’s sales performance and recent collaborative initiatives.

The Hero Xtreme 160R is available in different variants, each with its own price tag. The single-disc variant is priced at Rs 1,18,886, while the double-disc variant comes at Rs 1,22,236. For those interested in the Stealth Edition, it is available for Rs 1,24,076, while the Stealth Edition 2.0 is priced at Rs 1,30,008 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). The bike is offered in four attractive colors: Pearl Silver White, Vibrant Blue, Sports Red, and Matte Black (Stealth Edition).

Features of Hero Xtreme 160R:

Hero MotoCorp, the renowned motorcycle manufacturer, has offered a glimpse of an upcoming motorcycle that is scheduled to be launched on June 14, 2023. Although details are limited, it is highly likely that the anticipated model will be the upgraded version of the popular Hero Xtreme 160R.

The Hero Xtreme 160R, a well-received 160 cc sports commuter, has been spotted undergoing testing with various enhancements. These upgrades are expected to further elevate its competitiveness within the segment.

Notably, this will be the first significant upgrade for the Hero Xtreme 160R since its introduction in 2020. Along with ensuring engine compliance, the forthcoming motorcycle is rumored to feature USD front forks instead of the current telescopic forks.

Additionally, the upgraded Xtreme 160R is anticipated to showcase a revised instrument console, fresh color options, and the inclusion of Bluetooth connectivity. Hero MotoCorp’s December sales fell marginally to 3,94,179 units

Hero MotoCorp, a manufacturer of two-wheelers, today reported a little decrease in overall sales for December 2022, coming in at 3,94,179 units.

In the same month a year ago, the business sold 3,94,773 units, according to a statement from Hero MotoCorp.

3,81,365 units were sold domestically, up 1.83 percent from 3,74,485 units in December 2021.

However, the company reported that exports were down from 20,288 units in the same month last year to 12,814 units this month.

The total number of motorcycles sold in December 2022 was 3,56,749, down from 3,76,862 in the same month the previous year.

However, scooter sales increased, going from 17,911 units in December 2021 to 37,430 units in December 2022.

The company reported that it sold more than 40.58 lakh units in the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2022–23, an increase of 8% from the corresponding period in the previous year.

Hero Motocorp increases pricing for a fourth time this fiscal year, bikes will cost more from December 1

Hero MotoCorp, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the nation, has declared that, as of December 1, 2022, the price of its motorbikes and scooters will increase up to Rs 1,500.

Hero Moto announced that it will increase the ex-showroom prices of its two-wheelers starting on December 1 in its fourth price increase of the current fiscal year, with the price increase ranging across different models and markets.

The car industry behemoth has blamed the price increase on general inflationary charges. However, according to the company’s CFO Niranjan Gupta, it will keep offering creative financing options to lessen the effect of the increase on clients.

“We have also put in place accelerated savings programs, which will help us to offset any further cost impact, and drive improvement in margins,” he added.

Economic indicators suggest that demand will grow favourably moving forward, and industry volumes are predicted to increase in the next quarters.

To offset the increased input costs, Hero Moto extended price increases across all of its models in April by up to Rs 2,000, followed by an up to Rs 3,000 price increase in July, and by up to Rs 1,000 in September.

Profit for Hero MotoCorp’s second quarter fell 10% year over year to Rs. 716 crore

On November 3, Hero MotoCorp announced that its standalone net profit for the three months ended September 30, 2022, had decreased by 9.9% year over year to Rs 716 crore. The largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the nation had previously recorded a net profit of Rs 794 crore.

Operational revenue in the reviewed quarter climbed 7.4% to Rs 9,075.35 crore from Rs 8,453.40 crore in the comparable quarter of the previous fiscal.

In the most recent quarter, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) were Rs 1,038 crore, down 2.6 percent from Rs 1,066.4 crore in the same quarter last year. Its EBIT margin also decreased 120 basis points, to 11.4 percent from 12.6 percent.

In half-yearly terms, the company’s net profit for the first half of the current fiscal year (2022-2023) was Rs. 1,341 crore, while revenue increased by 25.3 percent to Rs. 17,468 crore.

In the meantime, the manufacturer recorded a 17% decrease in overall sales last month (October 2022) as compared to 5,47,970 units in October 2021, totaling 4,54,582 units.

The company’s dispatches to dealers in the domestic market were 4,42,825 units, down 16% from 5,27,779 units in the same time last year.

Commenting on the quarterly performance, Niranjan Gupta, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), said, “A healthy festive period demand across most categories and specifically in auto sector have demonstrated that the underlying propensity to spend has gone up. The consumer confidence is coming back , which augurs well for growth momentum moving forward.”

“Our results reflect our continued financial discipline, focus on cost savings and capital allocation on one hand, while ensuring premiumisation of our portfolio on the other. The Xtec Variants which have been launched across all key models have been received by the customers very well. We will continue to build presence in premium segment through multiple launches over the next few quarters,” Gupta said further.

According to the CFO, there may be some uncertainty in the playing field due to the global macro headwinds, thus managing it over the ensuing quarters will be crucial. “However, as the commodities cool off, and the rate cycle reaches its peak, the medium-term outlook for the Indian auto industry appears quite encouraging,” Gupta added.

On the BSE, Hero MotoCorp shares closed on Thursday, November 3, 0.15 percent higher at Rs 2,646.10 a share.

Hero MotoCop CEO teases upcoming electric scooter

Pawan Munjal, CEO of Hero MotoCorp on Monday, revealed the first look of the company’s upcoming electric scooter, during the live stream of Hero MotoCop’s tenth-anniversary celebration.

Munjal was seen standing next to the new scooter in the images leaked online. Autocar India noted that the company did not share any details of the product.

As reported by Autocar India, the scooter appears to be equipped with a 12-inch wheel at the front and a 10-inch unit at the rear. The white and black scooter featured in the image appears to be sleek with a curved body design and long seat, reported Hindustan Times Auto.

During the event, Munjal said that the electric scooter will be unveiled soon. According to Hindustan Times Auto, Hero MotoCorp signed an agreement with Taiwanese company Gogoro in April 2021 to share battery swap and technology features. The design of the new scooter however does not reflect what Gogoro offers.

Hero’s new electric scooter is expected to compete with other scooters like Ola Electric, Bajaj Chetak electric, Ather 450X and TVS iQube. It is expected to go on sales later this year or early next year.

Jackie Shroff lost his make-up man, Shashi, who worked for him for over three-and-a-half decades. The actor took to Twitter to pay tribute to him. Sharing a picture of them, he wrote, “Shashi Dada. Will always be in deepest corner of my Heart. My make up person for 37 years passed away.”

Gurmeet Choudhary and Rahul Dev offered condolences, as did fans. Replying to one comment, Jackie wrote, “He was my Soul Mate.”

Jackie made his debut as a leading actor with Subhash Ghai’s Hero in 1983. The film, which also starred Meenakshi Sheshadri, went on to become one of the biggest hits that year. He has since starred in films such as Ram Lakhan, Khal Nayak, Rangeela, Agni Sakshi, and Border.

Most recently, Jackie was seen as a police officer in Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, directed by Prabhudeva.
