United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation on Saturday to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East and its implications for regional and global stability.

According to the UAE’s official news agency WAM, the two leaders reviewed recent developments across the region and expressed concern over what they described as the “dangerous repercussions” of escalating tensions on regional and international peace and security.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed and Erdogan stressed the importance of intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and maintain stability in the Middle East at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty. Both leaders also underlined the need for dialogue and coordination to address ongoing crises affecting the region.

The conversation comes amid continuing instability across several parts of the Middle East, including rising military tensions, security concerns in the Red Sea region, and ongoing diplomatic friction involving regional powers. While neither side publicly identified a specific conflict during the discussion, both leaders highlighted the broader impact of instability on global economic and security conditions.

In addition to security issues, the UAE President and the Turkish President reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries. They emphasized their shared determination to continue joint efforts aimed at deepening economic and development partnerships that contribute to prosperity and growth for both nations.

Relations between the UAE and Turkey have witnessed significant improvement in recent years following a period of regional disagreements. Both countries have since accelerated cooperation in trade, energy, defence, logistics and investment sectors. In 2023, the two nations signed multiple agreements aimed at boosting long-term economic cooperation and strategic coordination.

Saturday’s phone call also reflected growing diplomatic engagement between Abu Dhabi and Ankara as both governments seek to play larger roles in regional mediation efforts and economic integration initiatives. Analysts have noted that UAE-Turkey ties have become increasingly important in shaping regional diplomacy amid shifting alliances across the Middle East.

Neither government announced any specific agreements following the conversation, but officials from both sides described the call as part of ongoing high-level coordination between the two leaderships.
