NHPC signs implementation agreement for 500 MW hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir

NHPC has signed an Implementation Agreement with Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDCL) for the development of two significant hydroelectric projects. The agreement, signed on 27 March 2026 in Jammu, pertains to the 240 MW Uri-I Stage-II and 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II projects in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The projects will be developed by NHPC on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 40 years. This strategic move aligns with NHPC’s commitment to enhancing the renewable energy capacity within the region, contributing to the sustainable energy goals of the country.

The signing of this agreement follows an earlier communication dated 20 February 2026 and complies with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. This development marks a significant milestone in NHPC’s ongoing efforts to expand its hydroelectric capacity, leveraging the abundant water resources in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Uri-I Stage-II and Dulhasti Stage-II projects are expected to play a crucial role in meeting the growing energy demands of the region, providing a reliable and sustainable source of power.
