Harsimrat Kaur Badal accuses AAP government of drinking and running Punjab

Member of Parliament from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday, lashed out at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accusing him of drinking and driving the state, in the parliament. The Shiromani Akali Dal MP made the above comments, taking part in the debate on the topic: The problem of Drug abuse in the country and steps taken by the government.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal also accused former MP Bhagwant Mann of coming to the parliament drunk. Kaur brought out that, members of parliament sitting beside him requested a change of seat.

The MP said sarcastically that, if the Chief Minister is like this then you can imagine the condition of the state. She also claimed that the law and order situation in the state is deteriorating.

The MP also took the occasion to remind parliament of an incident in 2016, when Bhagwant Mann had crossed over security barricades, overlooking the security of the parliament. Following an uproar, Mann was suspended from the session, after a parliamentary panel found him guilty of putting the security of the parliament at risk. Bhagwant Man was the sole MP for AAP during the period.

Bringing attention to another such incident, the Bathinda MP brought out that, Mann was deboarded from a Lufthansa flight as he was inebriated. The MP also claimed that Lufthansa airline had ordered an enquiry against Bhagwant Mann. Lufthansa, however, later attributed the delay to a change in aircraft, in a tweet. Bhagwant Mann who is the chief minister of Punjab is two time MP from Punjab.

Puri police arrest four, seize brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore

In a major drug haul in Puri in the recent past the police have arrested four persons, two of them hailing from West Bengal and seized 900 grams of brown sugar worth nearly Rs.1 crore from their possession.

Additional superintendent of police Mihir Kumar Panda said all the four persons were arrested on Monday and the police also seized nine mobiles and Rs.11,000 cash from them.

Panda said, acting on a tip that some persons outside the state are about to hand over drugs to local dealers, the Baselisahi police station officer raided the place, rounded them and recovered the contraband.

The police have registered a case under NDPS act and forwarded the accused to the SDJM court which refused their bail petitions and sent them to judicial custody.

The accused persons are identified as Hasan Ali and Ajijur Rehman both from West Bengal, Ajad

Ali of Taraboi, Khurdha district and Biplab Mullick of Machhgaon under Jagatsinghpur district.

Government extends tenure of DCGI chief VG Somani by three months

A Tuesday directive from the Union Health Ministry prolonged Dr V. G. Somani’s tenure as the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) chief by three months.

According to a statement from the Health Ministry, “Dr V. G. Somani shall continue to hold the charge of the post of Drug Controller of (India) under FR 49(v) for a term of three months beginning on August 16, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

On August 14, 2019, Dr Somani was appointed DCGI for a three-year tenure.

In the month of February, the government invited new applications for the position of the next DCGI. The current DCGI, VG Somani, was supposed to leave office on August 15.

The DCGI is in charge of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), which is in charge of ensuring the quality of drug supply throughout the country. It also has the authority to approve new drugs and to oversee clinical trials.

Throughout the pandemic, the incumbent DCGI has played a critical role in combating the covid-19 pandemic, from the approval of covid-19 vaccines to the approval of lifesaving drugs and ensuring their quality.

Armaan Kohli to face 14 days of judicial custody

The Narcotics Control Department (NCD) detained Arman Kohli earlier this week. Cocaine was found at his residence and NCD confirmed that he has connections with an international drug syndicate. The additional chief metropolitan magistrate court (ACMM) in Mumbai, on Wednesday, sent Armaan Kohli to 14-day judicial custody at the end of his NCB inquiry. His lawyers have put in the bail plea before the court.

Several such operations were conducted on Monday and Tuesday. Shedding light on the topic, Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director, According to Filmfare, NCB Mumbai also added, “During these follow-up operations we conducted, we’ve seized a total of 118-gram mephedrone and 13 grams of cocaine and arrested four persons, including two Nigerians in this case.”

NCB informed the court that it had seized more than one gram of cocaine from Kohli’s house during a raid and that they have enough evidence to suggest he had links with an international drug syndicate. After the recovery of drugs from his residence and his arrest, he was booked under various sections including 21(a), 27(a), 28.29.30 and 35 under NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

Along with Armaan Kohli, An alleged drug peddler, Ajay Raju Singh, who was arrested by the NCB along and booked under the NDPS Act, was also sent to 14-day judicial custody.

TV Actor Gaurav Dixit arrested by NCB, MD drugs, charas were recovered from the house

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday, charged Television actor Gaurav Dixit and arrested him. Gaurav has been arrested on charges of drugs intake. Earlier, before the arrest, NCB has recovered MD drugs, charas, and other drugs in the raid of Gaurav’s house. Gaurav was arrested on the ground of inquiry.

Significantly, in the drug case, NCB had arrested actor Ejaz Khan in March. Actor Ejaz Khan’s name surfaced after the arrest of drug peddler Shadab Batata in the drugs case. Ejaz Khan is accused of being a part of the Batata gang.

Before this in April, the investigative agency collected a large number of prohibited drugs at Gaurav’s house situated in Lokhandwala. While coming to his house, as soon as the actor and his friend sighted the police, they disappeared away. Since then, Police and NCB were on the lookout for him.

The NCB had earlier arrested Shadab Batata, son of Mumbai’s biggest drug supplier Farooq Batata, and recovered drugs worth about Rs 2 crore. Shadab Batata is accused of supplying drugs to Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai. Farooq used to vend potatoes in his early life. At that time he came in contact with some people of the underworld and today he is the biggest drug supplier in Mumbai. Now his two sons have claimed the entire job of this drug world.

Central Crime Branch arrests 4 people in Bengaluru in connection with smuggling

On Thursday, April 15, Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested 4 people including 2 Nigerian nationals in the connection of Smuggling in mid of Covid-19 times.

In connection with smuggling, Crime Branch seized 200 Ecstasy pills, 153 grams of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 5 mobile-phones, 2 motorcycles, weapons and RS 4000 cash also seized from their possession. A case has been also registered in the case of smuggling.

Earlier in the month of March, Central Crime Branch conducted raid in east Bengaluru in connection with illegal drugs, the police busted four drug rings and arrested 10 persons, including eight foreigners. They seized narcotics worth ₹4.4 crore, including over three kg of MDMA, 200 gram of cocaine, a huge cache of ecstasy pills and 2.5 kg of ganja.

In last 24 hours, Karnataka reported more than 11,000 cases in a single day for the first time since the pandemic hit, while Bengaluru broke the ‘record’ from earlier this month by breaching the 8,000-cases mark. The state’s previous high was on October 7, 2020 with 10,947 cases.

Directorate of Enforcement (ED) summons Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of Kerala CPI (M) State Secretary in Drugs Smuggling Case

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Bengaluru, has summoned Bineesh Kodiyeri, the son of Kerala CPI (M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on October 6th concerning his association in a drugs trafficking case. The ED will question Bineesh in regards with his association with the drugs racket accused Mohammed Anoop, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bengaluru zonal unit, on August 24 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, along with other accused R Ravindran and Anikha D. The prime accused Mohammed Anoop is from Kochi and is allegedly a close friend of Bineesh.

According to the information given by sources, the ED has questioned Anoop, who is currently placed in the Bengaluru Central Prison at Parapanna Agrahara, during which he reportedly confronted the officials that Bineesh had funded his restaurant business in Bengaluru. It was revealed that in the guise of running a restaurant, Anoop was allegedly peddling drugs to prominent people in the city.

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Bengaluru will look into the matter to confirm whether the financial deals between the two are linked to the drugs case. Bineesh has acknowledged his friendship with Anoop but has denied any involvement in the illegal drug business.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has raised questions about the investigation of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Sanjay Raut said, “The work of NCB is to stop smuggling of drugs. But they are calling every man and making inquiries. What is NCB doing right now?”

Sanjay Raut said that the job of NCB is to capture the big consignment of drugs coming from outside the country and end it by reaching its root. Then whether the goods come by air or by any other means. But they are calling every man and making inquiries.

Earlier they expected a drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. His girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother was arrested in the drug case. After that incident many Bollywood stars such as Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Kaur and Shraddha Kapoor are being inquired.

Rhea Chakraborty and Showik’s bail plea begins at Bombay High Court

The hearing has begun at the Bombay High Court for Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, plea for bail. The hearing was scheduled for yesterday but was postponed to today, i.e. 24th September due to heavy rain in the city. Rhea and Showik were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on earlier this month for allegedly procuring drugs.

In her 47-page bail application to the Bombay High Court, Rhea Chakraborty has said that Sushant Singh Rajput “used her, her brother Showik and members of his house help to facilitate his drug habit whilst he made sure that he does not leave a trail in the form of any electronic evidence whatsoever”. She also revealed that while being interrogated by the NCB, there was no female officer present, as stated mandatory by the law. Rhea continued to add that the NCB summoned her for interrogation for three consecutive days, i.e. on September 6, 7 and 8, where she was interrogated for a minimum of 8 hours at a stretch by multiple male officers yet, there was no female officer present on any of the days for a minute.

As per ANI, the lawyer of the accused Rhea, Satish Maneshinde, is currently arguing on the matter that the NDPS is an Act under which CBI can continue to investigate in their own way. According to News18, Satish said, “In my petition, I have said NCB has no jurisdiction. All cases to be transferred to CBI, as per SC judgement.”

4 arrested by Pune Police with 312 kgs of Cannabis worth Rs 46 Lakhs in Baramati yesterday

Monday night Baramati taluka police carried out an operation in heavy rain. A tempo (MH 10. CR 4326) on Baramati road was seized containing 312 kg of cannabis (Ganja) which valued at an estimate of 46 lakhs.

According to media reports this cannabis was to come from Visakhapatanam and to be sold in Satara, Sangli district. There was a blockade set up by police but despite this tempo went away. A private car helped the police to chase the tempo, and stopped the tempo. All the accused were arrested by the police. The Sub-Divisional officer Narayan Shrigaonkar considered this as the biggest operation in Pune District

Vijay Jalindar Kanase (age 26, resident of Kanarwadi, Tal. Kadegaon, Dist. Sangli), Vishal Manohar Rathod (age 19, resident of Nagewadi, Vita, Tal, Khanapur, Dist. Sangli), Nilesh Tanaji Chavan (age 32, resident of Andhli). The arrested have been identified as Maan, Satara and Yogesh Shivaji Bhagat (22, resident of Sablewadi, Shirsufal, Baramati). A case has been registered against them.

Kangana Ranaut mocks ‘classy’ Deepika Padukone, ‘Depression is a consequence of drug abuse’

Yesterday night, Deepika Padukone‘s name has come up in the drug angle regarding the SSR’s death case. The ‘Queen’ actress, Kangana has yet again taken it to her Twitter handle to call out the alleged actress after her name came up in the drug nexus. Ranaut is also making hashtags a trend again by using them frequently in her tweets. The ones she used in her tweet regarding Deepika are “#boycottBollywoodDruggies #DeepikaPadukone”.

Kangana has been speaking upon the matter of Sushant’s case over Twitter and has been calling out actors who are supposedly reported to be involved in the drug scenario. Addressing the surprising names and amount of celebrities being involved in the drug abuse in Bollywood which is getting discovered slowly but steadily, she did another tweet before calling out Deepika which read, “Narcoterrorism which is being unleashed upon us by vested interests within our nation and neighbouring countries to destroy our young population and systematically ruin our future, is one of the biggest challenges that we face today. R we ready to take it head-on? #Narcoterrorism”

In one of the earlier such tweets, she has addressed the issues of Bollywood as forms of terrorism. She even included nepotism and sexualism among them. She listed out almost 8 such terrors of Bollywood which she appeals to boycott from the industry.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap questions Kangana being forced to take drugs

In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap has questioned Kangana’s claim of someone forcing her to do drugs and have stated that people make their own decisions. This happened after in an interview with Republic TV, Kangana claimed that an actor sedated her with injections so that she is unable to for shoots.

Standing in for the defence of Bollywood industry against the allegations of a drug cartel involved, the filmmaker said that he knows people who, at their weakest point, have experimented. The filmmaker gave Kangana’s example and said, “There was a time when her films were not doing well. She was depressed and people didn’t treat her with respect. She lacked confidence.”

Anurag claims that during the shoot of Queen, the actress drank champagne in order to be free spirited and no one on the set ever judged her or even pressurised her to drink. He also complimented her saying, “She is a phenomenal actor. She needed to let go of her inhibitions and champagne helped her do that.”

“I’ve seen her do things when she was low on confidence. And, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. When she got out of it, she reinvented herself after that. But, she can’t say that somebody forced it on her. I don’t know what happened before but when I have seen all those elements, I’ve not seen anybody force anything on her.”, said Anurag. He also added, “People make their own choices. People make choices in their down moments. People don’t know. Yes, one thing is there that when you go around in this industry and you meet somebody. The first time, when I did something, she said, ‘This will make you feel good.’ But, if somebody says that it will make you feel good and you’ve tried it. After that, it’s your own choice.”

Sushant Singh Rajput Case: NCB arrests drug supplier with connections in Bollywood

On Friday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) revealed that they have arrested a supplier of drugs who has connections to the Bollywood industry and celebrities. A man named Rahil Vishram was arrested from Versova by a team led by Sameer Wankhede, the Zonal Director. It has been told that 900gms of Charas and Rs 4.5 Lakh in cash has been recovered from him.

As per the Intel, Anuj Keshwani revealed Vishram’s name during his interrogation. Anuj Keshwani was being interrogated for the alleged links with the drug suppliers of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

According to a statement given by an official, “Rahil admitted that he supplied drugs to Bollywood and also revealed the identity of his mentor. We are currently preparing a list of celebrities who were buying drugs from the two.”

So far, NCB has arrested 18 accused in the case. Among the accused are Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and his friend, Suryadeep Malhotra.

The case of Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death was very much complicated and foggy and now seems to be getting more intense as the former Manager of the Celeb has come forward claiming that Sushant was never into taking or doing drugs. While the Narcotics Control Bureau has been investigating the case, it has arrested the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda and others so far. Every day, the people held in custody are being questioned for long hours and there seems to be something new being added to the stock of News with regards to SSR’s death case.

As the investigation by NCB marches on, the former manager of the deceased stepped in claiming that Sushant never took drugs and that he knew how the consumption of drugs could affect his dreams. “I’ve been saying since day one that it was not a suicide, but a murder. Sushant was never into drugs, he was aware that drugs will not allow him to follow his dreams,” Ankit was quoted saying.

Meanwhile, Rhea, who has been grilled by the Narcotics Control Bureau as of now, has made some shocking claims in the case. The actress has dropped names of 25 A-List Bollywood celebrities and among them is Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh and have alleged that they took drugs along with Sushant and her.

Kannada Actress Ragini Dwivedi arrested in relation to drugs

Three people have been arrested concerning a drug abuse investigation which has close relations to the Kannada Film Industry. The three people arrested so far are Rahul, Viren Khanna and K Ravishankar. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested three people who were allegedly supplied drugs to the Kannada Film Industry.

According to the police, Viren Khanna’s arrest is important because “He (Khanna) is the main person who organises big parties where drugs are consumed. He was in Delhi and two CCB police inspectors had gone to Delhi and arrested him.” Friday morning, Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi was arrested for drug possession.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sent a notice to the actress on the 2nd September. The actress immediately lawyered-up and asked for time till the 7th September but the police raided Ms Dwivedi’s residence today morning.
