A major search and rescue operation continued in Indore after a young boy reportedly went missing while bathing in Tigariya Badshah Pond under the jurisdiction of Banganga Police Station, officials said.

According to police, the incident occurred when a group of boys had gathered at the pond for bathing. Eyewitnesses present at the spot informed authorities that several boys entered the water together, but one of them, identified as Krishna Rajawat, failed to return to the surface, triggering panic among locals and friends accompanying him.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rubina Mizwani said four boys were rescued safely from the pond soon after the incident, while efforts to locate Krishna Rajawat continued late into the operation.

Police teams initially deployed local swimmers and rescue personnel immediately after receiving information about the drowning incident. However, despite repeated attempts, the missing youth could not be traced in the initial hours of the search. Authorities later sought assistance from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which launched a specialized search operation at the pond.

Officials said rescue teams were using multiple methods, including deep-water searches and coordinated scanning of the pond area, to locate the missing individual. Heavy crowds gathered near the site as the operation continued, while police personnel were deployed to control the situation and prevent further accidents.

The incident has once again drawn attention to recurring drowning cases reported during the summer season at ponds, lakes and water bodies across Madhya Pradesh, particularly involving young people visiting such locations for bathing or recreation without adequate safety arrangements.

Authorities have repeatedly advised people against entering deep or unsafe water bodies, especially during monsoon pre-season periods when pond depths and underwater conditions become difficult to assess.

Police said further details would emerge after completion of the SDRF operation and ongoing investigation into the incident.
