Delegation of leaders from BJP today called on Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi seeking an independent forensic audit on the audio file claiming corruption charges within the DMK, allegedly made by Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.

Chennai, Apr 23: A delegation of leaders from BJP today called on Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi seeking an independent forensic audit on the audio file claiming corruption charges within the DMK, allegedly made by Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.

In the audio clip, the Minister had purportedly exposed the ill-gotten money amounting to Rs 30,000 crore through corrupt means by DMK Leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin and son-in- law Sabareesan, BJP State President K.Annamalai said in a statement here.

The BJP’s decision to meet the Governor to seek an independent forensic audit comes in the wake the Minister contending that the audio was not authentic.

Talking to reporters after meeting the Governor at Raj Bhavan tonight, BJP State Vice-President V.P.Duraisamy, who had earlier quit the DMK and joined the BJP, said Mr Ravi has promised to consider their request.

Earlier, Mr Annamalai said “since the Finance Minister is resting on an argument that this audio is fabricated, we challenge him to produce an audio clip with similar content but instead in my voice. We shall submit both audio samples to a court monitored investigation and let the investigating agency ascertain the genuine nature of both audio clips.”

He said “I will submit my voice samples and we expect the State Finance Minister to do the same. He should understand that this was too big a case to be brushed under the carpet with weak statements posted as defence, Mr Annamalai added.

Mr. Annamalai further requested the State Finance Minister to not underestimate the intelligence of the people of Tamil Nadu and not everyone would believe the fairy tales that you float like your partymen.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Tiruchi Shiva has called for the inclusion of State Medical Councils in the Medical Advisory Council on Friday.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Tiruchi Shiva has called for the inclusion of State Medical Councils in the Medical Advisory Council on Friday. He said in Rajya Sabha that most bills like Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill & Indian Medicine Central Council (Amendment)Bill by the Union government have taken away the powers of the State governments.

“Standing Committee has very clearly stated that there is no representation of State Medical Councils in the Advisory Council. So, it is recommended that there should be a provision for representation of elected members of State Medical Councils,” he said in Rajya sabha.

He argued that this practise of exclusion is an ‘attempt to strike at the roots of federalism.’

Tamil Nadu: On the fourth day, Rajya Sabha has four bills listed on today’s agenda, including two around medicine and one proposing a 30 per cent reduction in salaries of MPs for a year. DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran on Thursday gives adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha over “GST dues payable to Tamil Nadu by the Government of India”

The central government still owes about Rs 30,000-34,000 Crore to states as Goods and Services Tax compensation for December 2019 and January 2020, even as state governments find themselves at the forefront of the fight against the Coronavirus and struggle with their finances.

Centre also owed Tamil Nadu around Rs.2,400 crores as its IGST as a share of FY19 and FY20 as the report from three months ago on April in Lockdown.
