Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has secured a significant contract valued at Rs 1251 crore from the Ministry of Defence. The contract is for the supply of Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) to the Indian Army. This order, excluding taxes, highlights BEL’s continued role in enhancing India’s defence capabilities.

The GBMES is an advanced, indigenous system designed and developed by the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL) in Hyderabad and manufactured by BEL. This state-of-the-art system is capable of detecting, classifying, and locating all types of radars. Additionally, it can intercept and analyse all communication signals, thereby significantly enhancing situational awareness and air defence capabilities for the country.
