Apart from Delhi, tractor parade to be held in Bengaluru

January 26, 2020: Last week, after conducting talks with the Delhi Police the farmers, protesting the controversial farm laws, were given permission to hold a tractor parade on the Outer Ring Road in Delhi.

The newest update on Republic Day is that farmers and farmer’s unions in Karnataka will be taking out another tractor rally in Karnataka to show support for the farmers that have been protesting at Delhi border for weeks now.

Calling it the ‘Jana Ganarajyotsava Parade’, over 50 farmers’ union groups, including Dalit organisations, and labor associations will be taking part in the parade.

The rally will take place in a very organized manner with several groups starting from various different places and converge at one junction by the end of the day. The starting points arethe NICE Road junction on Tumakuru Road, Bidadi industrial junction on Mysuru Road, Devanahalli Nadi cross on Chikkabalapura road, and Hosakote toll Junction on Kolar road.
All these rallies will converge at Freedom Park in Central Bengaluru.

Several farmers from Bengaluru rural district and Devanahalli held protests in Hebbal in support of the farmers protesting against the farm laws in New Delhi.

Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) leader, Kodihalli Chandrashekhar stated, “Thousands of farmers will drive towards Bengaluru on tractors on Tuesday and reach Freedom Park. In more than 10,000 tractors and other vehicles, farmers are expected to reach Bengaluru. The parade is planned to begin soon after the Governor hoists the national flag.”

Arvind Kejriwal put under house arrest by BJP’s Delhi Police, says AAP

Delhi Police has put Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest in recent action in regards to the farmers protest going on in the national capital post his visit to the farmers at Singhu Border yesterday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tweeted.

“BJP’s Delhi Police has put Hon’ble CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal under house arrest ever since he visited farmers at Singhu Border yesterday. No one has been permitted to leave or enter his residence.”

“CM Kejriwal met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we’ll serve them like ‘Sevadars’ and support them. After he returned, Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of Home Ministry,” said AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj.

AAP’s MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi has been denied to meet Kejriwal and the Delhi Police mishandled him, AAP tweeted.

However, the Delhi Police has denied any allegations of putting the Aam Aadmi Party’s Kejriwal under house arrest. “It is a general deployment to avoid any clash between AAP and any other party. CM has not been put under house arrest,” Anto Alphonse, DCP North, Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had visited the Singhu border on Monday where thousands of farmers, for days, have been protesting against the Centre’s new farm laws and conducted a check on the arrangements made for them by the city government. This visit came just after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP0 extended its support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call on December 8th by the farmer’s organisation.

Arvind Kejriwal was accompanied by his Cabinet ministers and some other MLAs of his party during the brief visit to the Singhu border which is the Delhi-Haryana border.

“I checked the arrangements. We received a lot of pressure to allow the use of stadiums as temporary prisons but we did not give permission and I feel this helped the movement. Since then our party MLAs and ministers have been involved in ensuring that farmers do not face any discomfort,” Kejriwal said.

Farmers Protest: Akhilesh Yadav taken into police custody for violating section 144

On December 7, according to The Time of India, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav was taken into police custody for violating section 144.

The Time of India reported in a series of tweets that Samajwadi MLA Amitabh Bajpai along with party leaders are put under house arrest for planning ‘Kisan Yatra’ from Ganga Barrage from Monday afternoon.

Additionally, this yatra was planned by the local SP leader to express solidarity with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. SP chief hinted at travelling to Kannauj for a tractor rally as part of the ‘Kisan Yatra’ to show support to farmers in the outskirts of Delhi.

A huge deployment of the police force has been posted at the residences of MLA Amitabh Bajpai, former MLA Muneendra Shukla, and Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha leader Sarvesh Yadav.

Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Delhi-Haryana border, where thousands of farmers are protesting against the controversial farmer’s laws.

For 12 days, the farmers from various states, majorly from Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the farmer bills. The farmers are demanding the government to retract these laws and enable them to meet leaders responsible for introducing this bill.

Peaceful protests are underway at both the Singhu and Tikri borders.
