Oil India discovers new gas potential in Rajasthan’s Dandewala field

Oil India has announced a significant discovery of natural gas in its Dandewala Field located in Rajasthan. The company reported an inflow of approximately 25,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD) of natural gas from a depth of around 950 metres, indicating promising deliverability and potential.

This discovery marks the first successful establishment of gas presence in the shallower Sanu Formation within the Dandewala field. It opens up a new play and validates Oil India‘s strategy of revisiting subsurface potential through focused technical interventions and a ‘missed opportunities’ approach.

Preliminary estimates, based on structural control, petrophysical, and subsurface analysis, suggest a Gas In Place of approximately 75 million standard cubic metres (MMSCM). This development significantly enhances the overall prospectivity of the Dandewala field and bodes well for future appraisal and development efforts aimed at guiding and scaling up the resource potential and production in the field.
