Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has received a fresh order-related boost after the company informed exchanges that it has been empanelled by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for executing solar photovoltaic water pumping system projects under the MTSKPY / PM-KUSUM scheme across Maharashtra.

As per the regulatory disclosure, Crompton Greaves has secured an EPC contract for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 2,000 Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) along with PV modules. The total value of the work order stands at ₹46.20 crore, excluding GST. The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity and does not fall under related-party transactions.

The project will be executed under the government-backed PM-KUSUM scheme, which aims to promote the use of solar energy in agriculture while reducing farmers’ dependence on conventional electricity and diesel. The installations will be carried out at multiple locations across the state of Maharashtra, supporting sustainable irrigation and rural electrification initiatives.

Crompton Greaves is required to complete the execution within 60 days from the date of issuance of the Notice to Proceed or work order. Crompton Q2 Results: Net profit falls 43% YoY to Rs 71.2 crore, revenue up 1%

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd (NSE: CROMPTON) announced its financial results for the second quarter of FY2025, reporting a sharp decline in profitability even as revenue remained largely stable on a year-on-year basis.

The company’s net profit dropped 43% year-on-year to ₹71.2 crore, compared to ₹125 crore in the same quarter last year. The decline was mainly driven by weaker operating performance and lower margins.

Revenue from operations stood at ₹1,916 crore, a marginal rise of 1% from ₹1,896 crore reported in Q2 FY2024, indicating steady sales across its product segments.

However, operating performance took a hit. EBITDA fell 22% year-on-year to ₹158 crore, down from ₹203 crore in the previous year. Consequently, the EBITDA margin slipped sharply to 8.27% from 10.74% a year ago.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has secured a major order from the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP). The order, valued at Rs 445.04 crore (excluding GST), involves the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 2KW solar rooftop systems for 38,699 SC & ST consumers under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna.

This project, executed through the utility-led aggregation (CAPEX) model, covers five divisions of Andhra Pradesh: Kovur, Tirupati Rural, Puttur, Chittoor (O), and Chittoor (R). Crompton will also provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for five years, with the project expected to be completed within approximately six months.

The order is part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.

The order involves the design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of 4,500 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) across Maharashtra. It also includes a five-year comprehensive maintenance contract (CMC). The project falls under Component-B of the PM-KUSUM scheme, which aims to promote the use of solar energy in agriculture.

The pumps will be installed in off-grid and rural areas to improve irrigation access and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. The company’s solar-powered DC submersible pumps are designed for remote deployment and are intended to meet the needs of regions with inconsistent rainfall and limited grid power access.

Shares of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals soared over 16% on Friday morning following the company’s impressive fourth-quarter results.

This surge came after the company reported better-than-expected performance, driven by strong demand for its fans and air coolers.

In March, Crompton Greaves achieved its highest-ever quarterly standalone revenue of ₹1,797 crore, showing a 12% year-on-year growth. The company also maintained a solid EBIT margin of 11.5% (12.3% adjusted for EPR). On a consolidated basis, the revenue for the quarter was ₹1,961 crore.

As of 12:03 pm, the shares were trading 15.97% higher at ₹393.25.

The sales for the ECD section grew by 14% compared to the previous year, reaching ₹1,520 crore. This growth was caused by fans increasing by 13%, pumps rising by 9%, and appliances going up by 27%. However, lighting sales stayed the same at ₹280 crore because prices kept going down, even though the company sold more ceiling lights, battens, and accessories for homes and businesses.

The company’s profit margin improved by 0.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 31.9%. This was thanks to saving costs from Project Unnati and selling a better mix of products.

Throughout the fiscal year, Crompton Greaves achieved some important milestones. They sold over 20 million fans with double-digit growth in units sold. They also completed several orders for solar pumps worth ₹122 crore.
