Indian PM Modi is likely to discuss the Centre’s plans for the next three years with his Council of Ministers.

According to government sources, a detailed briefing followed by a plan of action is expected to be chartered out in the three-day meeting starting August 10.

This marks the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi is conducting a meeting stretched up to three days since the reshuffle and expansion of the Union Cabinet. Central government’s senior ministers have been asked to come prepared with the details of the works performed by their Ministries.

The meeting is set to take place at Parliament Annexe in the middle of the Parliament’s monsoon session. Sources have claimed that the Centre might hold deliberations on its future course of actions as well as the schemes that are required to be implemented to make the lives of people easier.

Furthermore, there would be a thrust on “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and ways to fight challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministries are needed to tailor their schemes for the states where Assembly polls will be held in the next three years.

A source stated, “There is so much the Modi government wants to do and each ministry is expected to deliver on certain schemes. These meetings will lay the foundation of what the government is expected to do in the next three years. In between, there are many state elections. The ministries, too, need to tailor their schemes for their states as well.”

Prime Minister was said to hold an important meeting at his residence, which was allegedly related to the cabinet reshuffle, however, the meeting had been canceled.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and the Cabinet meetings that were scheduled for today at 11 am and 11:05 am have been canceled.

The first cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term was to be announced today at 6 p.m. The government had mentioned that the new cabinet would be the youngest cabinet in the history of India.

However, any official reason has not yet been given for the cancellation of the meeting. The Cabinet expansion would likely take place today at 6 p.m. and several new leaders were expected to be added to the Cabinet.

Apart from the Governor’s reshuffle, The Ministry of Cooperation had also been set up on Tuesday, which all indicated for the Cabinet expansion to be held today.

Prime Minister was said to hold an important meeting at his residence, which was allegedly related to the cabinet reshuffle. However, the meeting had been canceled.

PM Modi was making changes to his cabinet for the first time after he had started his second term in 2019.

PM Modi earlier carried out a month-long review of the Minister’s performance which made the government suffer criticism in the country as well as abroad.

The expansion comes around the completion of PM Modi’s government’s seven years in office. In the Union Council of Ministers there were 21 cabinet ministers, 9 independent charged ministers, and 23 ministers of the state, however, the council could have up to 81 ministers, which concludes that over a dozen add ons were to be expected.
