Cancer Treatment Gets a Boost with Radixact System in Mumbai

A Mumbai hospital has introduced the Radixact® Treatment Delivery System, a new radiation therapy technology aimed at improving accuracy in cancer treatment and reducing harm to healthy tissue.

The system combines real-time imaging with adaptive targeting, allowing doctors to adjust radiation delivery as the patient’s body moves—such as during breathing. A built-in CT scanner helps ensure the tumor remains accurately targeted throughout the procedure.

According to the hospital, this upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to improve cancer care through more precise, individualized treatment. The system is capable of treating a variety of cancers and is designed to deliver higher doses of radiation with fewer side effects.

The hospital has also invested in genomic testing and precision oncology infrastructure. A 500-gene cancer panel is being used to support more tailored treatment plans based on a tumor’s genetic profile.

Madhya Pradesh HC orders state to provide free cancer treatment to victims of Bhopal gas tragedy

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the state government to give free treatment to the victims suffering from cancer due to the Bhopal gas tragedy at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal.

The court declared the order on September 16, and a copy was made accessible on Wednesday.
A division bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice V K Shukla declared the direction while listening to petitions of the Bhopal Gas Peedith Mahila Udyog Sangthan and the Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch asking for medical facilities for the victims of the disaster that took place in 1984.

The highly toxic gas, methyl isocyanate, leaked from the then Union Carbide factory in Bhopal in the middle of the night of December 2 and 3, 1984, killing more than 3,700 people and injuring more than 5.58 lakh others, according to the state government records. A monitoring board created by the Supreme Court to examine the issues concerning the gas tragedy victims recently presented its statement to the high court.

As per the court order, advocate Piyush Jain was present for the monitoring board and petitioned for time to file an answer to the action taken report registered by the state government and the one to be registered by the Union government.

“The counsels appearing for the monitoring committee submitted that the committee shall again inspect and give a specific report as to whether any improvement has taken place concerning the treatment and other facilities being provided to gas victims and other patients after the control of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) was entrusted to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),” the court order said.

“In the meanwhile, it is directed that free of cost treatment be provided to the victims of Bhopal Gas Tragedy, who are suffering from any of the cancers, in AIIMS, Bhopal, in the light of the recommendation made in the meeting convened by (MP) Additional Chief Secretary on June 17, 2021, the HC said in its order.

The court issued the matter for the next hearing on October 8.

Bollywood veteran actress, Kirron Kher in April 2021 was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. The news became a sign of worry and despair for her fans all over the globe.

In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Anupam Kher gave out a health update regarding Kirron Kher’s ongoing treatment and her current condition.

He came bearing some good news as he said, “she is much better”.

Speaking on the current health situation and said, “It is a very natural phenomena to support people near you, and that is what I have been doing. Aur baaki toh kuch nahi kar sakte hum. Doctors are doing their best job. We have got the best doctors around and I can only be positive and optimistic and believe in the brilliance of doctors and pray.” He further added, “My brother is also a cancer survivor, [so there is hope]. Being optimistic and choosing to be happy always helps in every way”.

Anupam further mentioned that he is relying on optimism to go through this tough time. Recalling a pearl of wisdom of his grandfather, he said, “you can be happy by thinking how many people are worse than you, or you can be sad thinking how many people are better than you”.

Model, Actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman is now turning humanitarian by setting major inspirational goals through his new initiative for cancer patients.

The actor took to Instagram and shared a video with his friend Gauri Shah whom he gave a perfect haircut and informed that the hair was donated to make wigs for cancer patients.

With a bunch of pictures from the session, the actor revealed that during the virtual Global cut as a part of Hair for Hope India, founded by Premi Matthew, he donated his friend’s hair to make ‘wigs for people who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy.’

Sharing the 2 pictures from the session, the model wrote, “Gave my friend @gauri_2804 a hair cut at the virtual Global cut – a – thon by Hair for Hope India, founded by Premi Matthew Hair For Hope collects donated hair to make wigs for people who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, and it’s a great attempt to create a little bit of happiness for people in a really tough situation. Glenmark Pharma share price escalates post tentative USFDA nod for kidney cancer drug

Glenmark Pharma share price jumped up over a percent after the company received tentative approval from the US health regulator for a cancer drug. The drug major received this nod from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Axitinib tablets used in the treatment of kidney cancer. The product is the generic version of Inlyta tablets of PF Prism CV. This approval if signalled green is strictly limited to Axitinib tablets in the strength of 1 mg and 5 mg, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The stock was trading at Rs 478.85, up to Rs 7.65, or 1.62 %, as of 12:16 am. It has reached an intraday high of Rs 480.55 and an intraday low of Rs 473.65.

Sanjay Dutt reoccurs on sets to shoot medley for ‘Shamshera’, amidst his cancer treatment

A few weeks ago Sanjay Dutt had made a statement that he was taking a break from work to focus on his health. Later it was reported that the actor was diagnosed for lung cancer. However, he refuses to let his health come in the way for his passion of films. Sanjay Dutt completed the first cycle of chemotherapy and was quick to come back on the sets of his next film. According to Mumbai Mirror, the actor began his week by returning to the sets of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer and completing a few patchworks.

‘Shamshera’ was put on hold owing to the ongoing pandemic. Just like the other Bollywood films, Shamshera’s production was also halted for six months due to the lockdown. Sanjay Dutt reported back to work at a city studio on Monday. All the necessary precautions were followed while he was on the sets.

“Sanjay looked happy to be back in action. Energetic and high in spirits, he reeled off one shot after another. It was evident from his attitude that he us going to face this crisis head-on, like the fighter he is.”, a source told the national publication.
