BJP MLAs, including former CM Basavaraj Bommai, who staged a protest outside Karnataka Assembly.

BJP MLAs, including former CM Basavaraj Bommai, who staged a protest outside Karnataka Assembly, have been detained and taken away in a police vehicle.

BJP MLAs, including former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, were detained and taken to the Vidhana Soudha Police Station for staging a demonstration outside the Karnataka Assembly in protest against the suspension of 10 party legislators.

JD(S) second-in-command and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy too had briefly joined the BJP during the protest. Bommai termed the suspension to be “illegal” and “murder of democracy”. He alleged that the Siddaramaiah government has adopted a “dictatorial” attitude and is trying to stifle the voice of the opposition.

On Wednesday, Speaker U T Khader suspended ten BJP MLAs from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for the remainder of the session for their “indecent and disrespectful conduct” in the House. C N Ashwath Narayan, V Sunil Kumar, R Ashoka, Araga Jnanendra (all former Ministers), D Vedavyasa Kamath, Yashpal Suvarna, Dheeraj Muniraj, A Umanath Kotian, Arvind Bellad and Y Bharath Shetty are those ten MLAs.

The Speaker’s action came after the House witnessed chaotic scenes as some members of the BJP tore copies of bills and the agenda and threw them at the Chair, as they were upset over the Speaker’s decision to conduct the proceedings of the House without giving a lunch break. The assembly session began on July 3 and is slated to end on July 21.

This was amid the BJP’s protest against the Congress government for allegedly “misusing” IAS officers for the meeting of opposition leaders from around the country that was held in Bengaluru in the past two days.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said the Congress is summoning their candidates and talking to other parties because they know their party is not getting majority in Karnataka assembly election and do not trust their candidates.

Bengaluru, May 12: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said the Congress is summoning their candidates and talking to other parties because they know their party is not getting majority in Karnataka assembly election and do not trust their candidates.

“There are two meanings to it. Firstly, they won’t get a majority. Therefore they are trying to talk to other parties. And secondly, they do not have faith in their MLAs,” he told reporters here.

He replied to a question on the Congress summoning their candidates and booking resorts in Bengaluru in the fear of BJP launching Operation Kamala to buyout winning candidates to form the next government.

The Congress has summoned their candidates to Bengaluru after a majority of exit polls predicted a fractured mandate in the Karnataka assembly election, the polling for which culminated on Wednesday at 6pm.

Karnataka recorded the highest-ever voter turnout of 73.19 per cent since the 1952 assembly election.

Asked about the possibilities of a post-poll alliance with JDS to form a coalition government, Bommai said as of now there is no such a possibility as the BJP is getting a comfortable majority.

Reacting to Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar’s claim that the Congress would secure 141 seats, Bommai said: “Well let him be happy with 141 till tomorrow. the reality will emerge.”

Asked who would be the chief ministerial face after the party wins the election, Bommai said, “Let us see. It will be decided in the legislature party and parliamentary board meetings.”

Replying to a query on post-poll alliance with JDS, Bommai said, “I just saw that Kumaraswamy said he will not be a kingmaker, but become a king. Everybody has his own right to make his assessment.”

The polling for the Karnataka assembly election concluded on Wednesday evening, with the state registering a voter turnout of 73.19 per cent, which poll officials on Thursday termed a record while sharing the final figures.

According to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the national government has given 500 crore for the Tumkur Smart City Project.

According to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the central government has released Rs.500 crore for the Tumkur Smart City Project.

According to Bommai, the central government has agreed to fund a 6,000-kilometer national highway in the state, as well as rail under and over bridges.

Bommai stated that 9500 crore has been transferred to farmer bank accounts through the Raitha Sanman scheme. The Ayushman Bharath Scheme has been extended to 1 crore people, and a sufficient number of Jan Aushad centres have been established. The welfare programmes speak volumes about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work. The rail projects in Tumkur, Shira, Chitradurga, and Davangere have been approved by the Modi government. Funds have been released to farmers for crop input subsidies and port improvements, according to the Chief Minister.

Shira, he said, is a drought-prone taluk, and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa devised a plan to fill tanks in the taluk with water from the Mudaluru and Upper Bhadra projects. Yediyurappa initiated the project.

According to Bommai, the central government was briefed on the region’s water problems and received permission to fill tanks from two other sources. However, they were unable to fill the Madalur tank. But, as promised, the then-CM Yediyurappa filled up the Madalur tank during the bye-election.

Bommai attacked State Legislative Assembly Leader Siddaramaiah for purportedly criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions. He said, “PM Modi is a true democratic given full autonomy to states and a firm believer in the democratic system. He has given several schemes to Karnataka. Siddaramaiah, while he was the CM, failed to explain correctly the state’s projects and requirements before the 15th Finance Commission because of which the grants had been reduced.”

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said as much as Rs 9.8 lakh crore business agreements were signed in this year’s...

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said as much as Rs 9.8 lakh crore business agreements were signed in this year’s Global Investors Meet (GIM), of which already Rs 2.83 lakh crore proposals have been approved.

“This time, before the GIM began, nearly 29 percent of proposals were approved,” he said at the valedictory of Invest Karnataka 2022, a flagship Global Investors Meet, conducted by Karnataka government.

The industries secretary has been asked to take steps for Rs 10 lakh crore investment proposals to become reality within the stipulated period, CM said.

“All agreements that were signed in the last three days must be implemented within the next three months. Thereafter a transparent report must be placed before the people,” he said on late Friday evening.

Bommai said the first GIM was held in 2000 in which Rs 27,000 crore investment was proposed of which 44 per cent investment was made.

In 2010, Rs 3,94,768 crore investment was promised of which only 14 per cent became reality, he said.

In 2012, Rs 6,77,158 crore investment was proposed of which only 8 per cent investment became reality and in 2016, Rs 3,05,000 crore investment was promised and only 15 per cent investment was made, Bommai said.

“This time it will not be allowed to happen. No government will tell reality, but my government will keep all facts and figures before the people of Karnataka,” he said.

As much as 50,000 acres with good infrastructure facilities are available in the landbank of various districts, Bommai said.

The land is available in Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Mysuru and Tumkur districts in the landbank, he stated.

The Shivamogga and Vijayapura airport will start functioning soon, besides a full-fledged airport is under construction in Karwar, Bommai said. Besides, a 6000 km national highway road is under construction, he added.

The basic infrastructure and policies of the state government will not disappoint investors, Bommai said. “Of late, Dalit industrialists are coming to core sectors,” he said.

The entire world is hit by an economic crisis including the developed nations, but in India, Karnataka took a bold step to hold this event at a time when the world is busy in saving its people from crisis, Bommai said.

Bommai said Karnataka is in competition with Gulf nations and intends to manufacture hydrogen fuel and ammonia. Karnataka plans to manufacture Hydrogen Ammonia fuel and permission will be given on a first come first basis, he said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said it was unfortunate that Opposition leader Siddaramaiah was seeking ban on the RSS.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Congress had no basis to ask why the Popular Front of India (PFI) has been banned because it was the same party that had withdrawn the cases booked against PFI.

To cover up their mistakes, the Congress leaders are demanding a ban on the RSS but they don’t say why it should be banned, he said.

The RSS has built several institutions for the poor, downtrodden and destitute people, and rendered help during natural disasters, he said.

“The RSS is an organisation which is trying to create awareness on patriotism. I feel Siddaramaiah should not have stooped to this level.”
