Bhupendra Patel, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Gujarat’s Ghatlodia, will take oath as Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive term on Monday, following the party’s massive victory in the recently concluded assembly elections. The ceremony will be held at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar, the state capital.

The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as at least 20 chief ministers from BJP-ruled states.

At a ceremony inside Gandhinagar’s new secretariat complex, Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer Patel’s oath as Gujarat’s 18th chief minister. At the event, the new ministerial council will also be sworn in. JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, and 10-15 government ministers are expected to attend the event.

According to information, MLAs whose names have been finalised for ministerial positions were notified last night. Through phone calls, BJP state president CR Patil informed the concerned MLAs. As a result, 17 newly elected assembly members have been asked to take the oath of office as ministers in the new cabinet.

200 Seers Invited For The Ceremony

According to reports by ABP News, special preparations have been made for this swearing-in ceremony, as 200 seers have been invited to attend. The helipad ground in Gandhinagar will be divided into three large stages. The Chief Minister and his cabinet will be in charge of the middle stage. The Prime Minister and VVIPs will take the platform on the right side of the main stage. On the left side stage, 200 sadhus from the state who have been specially invited to the ceremony will be seated.

In the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly elections, the party won 156 of the total 182 seats, giving it an unprecedented lead and its eighth consecutive victory. The main opposition party, the Congress, could win 17 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could win five seats in the state legislature.

A committee of IAS officials is overseeing the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony, for which a temporary structure with a capacity of 20,000 people has been constructed at the helipad field.

The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by party officials from the taluka and city levels. The party’s current and former MPs and MLAs, office-bearers of various morchas, chairmen/vice-chairmen and directors of APMCs, gramme panchayat sarpanches, and Jan Sangh veterans are also expected to attend. During the party’s election campaign in Gujarat, several national-level figures were brought in for campaign carpet bombing.

On September 13, the Union Ministry announced Bhupendra Patel as the new CM of Gujarat.

On September 13, Bhupendra Patel, the first-time MLA from Gujarat, took oath as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat by succeeding the former CM Vijay Rupani, who submitted his resignation, a few days ago.

Earlier before, the new Gujarat CM had visited the Governor on September 12 at Raj Bhawan in Gandhinagar to appeal for the topmost state rank.

The Gujarat Assembly elections are scheduled for December 2022. The Bhartiya Janata Party are banking on Patel, a Patidar who dominated the region being the first time member of parliament for the maximum votes in the assembly polls. Earlier, in 2the 017 Assembly elections, the BJP clinched over 99 of the 182 seats and had won the state polls against Congress. Congress in the same elections managed to get 77 seats.

Patel witnessed a magnificent rise from being the first the MLA from Patidar sub-group to becoming the chief minister of Gujarat. The BJP now aims to keep away the Kadva Patidar community, a sub-division of the Patidar group because the people seem to be drifting apart from the party policies.

On Monday, at 2:20 pm, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat invited Bhupendra Patel to take oath as the new Gujarat chief minister of Gujarat, replacing Vijay Rupani from the top post in the state.

On Monday, Bhupendra Patel a first-time MLA from the Ghatlodia constituency in Gujarat will take oath as the 17th chief minister of Gujarat, replacing Vijay Rupani, who surprisingly resigned from the top post in the state, ahead of the assembly elections in 2022.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s choice of the 59-year-old as the chief minister at a legislative party meeting on Sunday came as a surprise for many as the low-profile, first-time legislator was not seen to be among the top contenders for the post. The BJP has said the selection regarding the new Gujarat cabinet will be taken later.

On Monday, at 2:20 pm, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat invited Bhupendra Patel to take oath as the new Gujarat chief minister of Gujarat. The Governor wrote in a tweet, “The newly appointed leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Legislature Party, Bhupendrabhai Patel, presented a proposal to form a new government under his leadership at the Raj Bhavan. Accepting the proposal, he was invited to take oath as the Chief Minister on September 13, 2021, at 2:20 pm.”

According to news agency ANI, on Sunday Union home minister Amit Shah is set up to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar as Gujarat CM.“I believe that under the guidance of Narendra Modi, the state’s sustainable development will keep up its momentum,” Amit Shah said on Sunday.

Bhupendra Patel is an MLA from the Ghatlodia seat. Patel is known to be close to Amit Shah as well as Anandiben Patel. Patel has won his seat by over 117,000 votes in 2017, the largest margin in that poll defeating Congress candidate Shashikant Patel. Bhupendra Patel holds a diploma in civil engineering, and also served as the chairperson of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA).

Patel was the first-time MLA who clinched the Ghatlodiya constituency in the year 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections, preceding INC's Shashikant Patel with an ascertained margin of 17,000 voters.

After Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani resigned on September 11, the Union Ministry announced Bhupendra Patel as the new position holder a day after on September 12. Patel is a first-time member of the legislative assembly from Ghatlodiya seat succeeding erstwhile chief minister Anandiben Patel.

Today, at Gandhinagar, after an official meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party, the union minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced Patel’s name for the vacant post. Rupani added after the announcement that, “Bhupendra Patel is capable. We believe BJP will win the upcoming elections in the state under his leadership.”

On September 11, Rupani gave his letter of resignation including letters of his council of ministers to the Governor Acharya Devvrat. This decision by the then elected Chief Minister changed the topography of the 15 months long poll results.

Patel was the first-time MLA who clinched the Ghatlodiya constituency in the year 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections, preceding INC’s Shashikant Patel with a ascertained margin of 17,000 voters. This was one of the largest voting poll for Gujarat constituency in the particular election.

According to the Moneycontrol sources, “Patel, a surprise pick, is Delhi leadership’s choice, according to the sources. He is a Patidar, a community that is going to play a significant role in next year’s assembly polls. Patel’s proximity with Gujarat business fraternity also worked to his favour.”
