BGMI maker Krafton Labs partners with Solana Labs for blockchain-based gaming

Krafton Labs, the makers of the famous battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), announced on Wednesday the signing of a commercial deal with Solana Labs to facilitate blockchain-based gaming. For the uninitiated, Solana is a decentralized blockchain that is far more efficient than Bitcoin, Ethereum, or any other blockchain.

According to a report published by the Solana Foundation, one transaction on the Solana blockchain network uses less energy than two Google searches and 24 times less energy than charging a phone. Solana, which was created by Anatoly Yakovenko, works on a decentralized computer network that uses the blockchain ledger. The startup claims to be the world’s fastest blockchain and boasts of its capacity to validate 65,000 transactions per second for less than a penny each.

“Krafton will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we stride towards establishing our Web 3.0 ecosystem,” said Hyungchul Park, Lead of Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc. “As one of the best global high-performance blockchain with strength in high speed and low fees, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this collaboration, KRAFTON will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences,” he further added.

According to a press release, Krafton and Solana Labs are preparing to form a long-term partnership for the creation and management of blockchain- and NFT-based games and services. The two firms will work together on the marketing and design of blockchain games and other blockchain innovations, as well as collaborative investment prospects.

“We are seeing gamers increasingly seek out on-chain games,” said Johnny Lee, Head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs.

Last month, the firm declared its intention to enter the web 3.0 and NFT markets, leveraging its BGMI game creation and operations capabilities. Since then, the business has announced investments and partnerships with partners in the NFT, metaverse, and blockchain industries, including Seoul Auction Blue, XX Blue, and NAVER Z. (Zepeto).

PUBG New State has arrived, and it brings a slew of new features to the table, including a near-futuristic setting that should be a lot of fun to explore. Krafton reveals new logo for Battlegrounds Mobile India, adopts the acronym BGMI

Battlegrounds Mobile India, which emerged as a replacement to the famed PUBG mobile after it was banned in the country in September last year due to data privacy concerns, is getting a revamp.

Krafton, the South Korean video game development company, revealed the new logo for the game via an Instagram post on their official account. The new logo features an acronym for the mobile game in tricolour, appealing to its Indian audiences which the developers have targetted since its launch in July this year. The logo was subsequently posted on all its social media accounts.

Krafton wrote, “BGMI is an emotion! We thank you for all the love,” expressing their gratefulness towards the users under the post unveiling the new logo for the game.

The new Battlegrounds Mobile India logo is simplistic and is presented in white block letters, with “KRAFTON” written below. It is enclosed in a bold-lined box that consists of the colours saffron and green as an ode to the Indian tri-coloured flag. The acronym BGMI, which saw frequent usage by players in the video game communities has now been adopted for the official logo instead of the game’s full name.

Apart from the logo reveal, Krafton also declared that it has banned around 60,000 accounts for employing illegal practices in the game to gain victory and sabotage, other players. The company announced that it has banned 59,247 between September 10 and September 16 after receiving complaints regarding ‘hackers’ by the game players.

“Battlegrounds Mobile India will strive to implement strong sanctions with the ultimate goal of eradicating the use of illegal programs in order to provide you a pleasant gaming environment,” said Krafton in a statement regarding the implemented ban on illegal accounts.
