On 6th August, the Trump Administration announced that they will be banning Chinese apps such as Tik Tok and WeChat because they pose a threat to the national security of the United States. The administration also stated that these apps are a threat to the privacy of millions of US citizens.

In August, ByteDance the company that owns TikTok filed a lawsuit against the executive order in California. But now, the company has filed another complaint, late on Friday night (the night of 18th August) as the 45 day period comes to an end on the 20th of August, Sunday.
In their complaint, ByteDance says that this executive order is not about national security, but rather political. They also said that this is a free speech issue, under the First Amendment of the United Stated=s Constitution. In their complaint, they said that the administration’s actions world, “destroy an online community where millions of Americans have come together to express themselves.” The complaint also says that Trump Administration has also ignored the evidence that showed TikTok’s commitment to user privacy.

the Trump Administration has raised concerns over China trying to use apps like TikTok to access information on United Stated citizens.

Late last month, the Chinese government passed a rule saying that Tech companies will need their approval before they transfer technology to foreign buyers. This includes TikTok’s user recommendation algorithm

A deal has been signed by Oracle Corp and Byte Dance, that would make Oracle a ‘trusted technology partner’ of the latter.

This deal will make the United States the headquarters of TikTok Global.

Amid the US-China tensions, the Trump Administration has raised concerns over China trying to use apps like TikTok to access information on United Stated citizens.

On Wednesday, the Trump administration said that they still have concerns of a Chinese form retaining majority control.

As per the report by Reuters, the deal with oracle does not require ByteDance to receive Chinese Government’s permission for the tech-sale.

US President Donald Trump announces that he will ban Tik-Tok in USA by Saturday. It has come after the reports...

US President Donald Trump announces that he will ban Tik-Tok in USA by Saturday.

It has come after the reports claiming that the US administration has asked Tik-Tok owned Chines company ByteDance to sell Tik-Tok. Report also claimed that Microsoft is planning to buy Til-Tok.

Asserting his authority, Donald Trump said that he can ban Tik-Tok using emergency economic power.

Even Bloomsberg has confirmed from its sources that the administration will take decision on banning Tik-Tok amy sooner.

As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the USA.

I have authority.

Said Donald Trump.

Earlier in July, India banned 59 chinese apps including Tik-Tok, especially after escalating tension between India and China at Line Of Actual Control.

The reasons being given by America and India for banning Chinese companies in their respective countries are alike. Considering Chinese companies to national threat for security, sovereignty and privacy of citizens living within the two countries, the government is impelled to take such decision.

Earlier too, Many Chinese companies are alleged for data stealing and violating privacy of individuals of different countries. Chinese companies work under Communist Party Of China, hence governments of different countries have their apprehensions that the companies might give data to Chinese government, which could be use against them.

The Indian government on Monday announced a ban on 59 Chinese Mobile Apps which include TikTok, SHAREit, CamScanner, Clean Master-...

The Indian government on Monday announced a ban on 59 Chinese Mobile Apps which include TikTok, SHAREit, CamScanner, Clean Master- Cheetah Mobile, etc. This move was taken amidst serious tensions across the Indo-China border where a series of retaliations have taken place in the last couple of weeks. This order has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Electronics ,which stated that these apps are “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order”. Majority of these apps were in the scrutiny of intelligence agencies over privacy concerns.

The apps that have been banned, have been listed in the Appendix released by the Ministry of Electronics, Government of India.

The Information Technology Ministry had received an exhaustive recommendation from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordinate Center for blocking these “malicious apps”. These apps have been a source of serious security and privacy concerns and a step had to be taken to protect the data privacy of the Indian populations which also, has been one of the largest consumers of these apps.

Amidst the apps that have been banned is the popular TikTok app which has with time gained an exorbitant amount of users in India. In May 2019, TikTok marked over 300 million users as reported by Statistica to economictimes.com and in the whole year, Indians are recorded to have spent 5.5 billion hours on TikTok as reported by indiatoday.in. Apps like CamScanner, Clash of Kinds, Xender, etc. are also some popular apps used by Indians at large and these apps would also have to bear the brunt of this ban.

This is a signature for retaliation by the Indian government over the June 15 face-off at the Galwan valley in Ladakh where 20 soldiers of the Indian army lost their lives. Tensions between both the nations have just escalated ever since and this economic backlash serves as India’s answer via ‘Digital Combat’.
