Nabih Berri has said that Lebanon is part of ongoing efforts linked to a ceasefire arrangement involving Washington, while raising concerns over Israel’s adherence to past agreements.

Berri stated that Abbas Araghchi confirmed to Lebanese officials that Lebanon is included in any agreement aimed at stopping hostilities. His remarks come amid continued regional tensions and diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation.

Addressing the possibility of any agreement with Israel, Berri emphasized that Lebanon would require firm guarantees, citing concerns over compliance. “Any Lebanese agreement with Israel requires guarantees because it does not adhere to its commitments,” he said.

Berri also accused Israel of violating an existing ceasefire agreement, stating that breaches occurred despite commitments from Hezbollah to uphold the truce. The claim highlights ongoing disputes over ceasefire implementation and mutual accusations between the sides.

On the domestic front, Berri stressed the importance of national cohesion, saying Lebanon is relying on “internal unity and the Arab umbrella” to navigate current challenges. He also underlined the significance of coordination among key state institutions.

“The relationship between me and the presidency of the republic and the presidency of the council of ministers is solid and crucial for consolidating stability,” Berri said, pointing to cooperation among Lebanon’s leadership as a stabilizing factor.

There has been no immediate response from Israeli authorities to Berri’s statements. The situation remains tense, with diplomatic efforts ongoing and multiple actors involved in attempts to maintain or restore a ceasefire.
