It looks like OTT giant Netflix would clearly emerge to be the winner of this year’s content competition amongst the other web platforms with its stellar line up of films and web shows. With the announcement of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, the OTT giant has added another feather to its cap.

On 24 December 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814, en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi, was hijacked and taken to Kandahar in Taliban-governed Afghanistan. The hijack lasted seven days; while passengers and crew suffered, some great officers back home struggled to answer the ‘who’ and ‘why’ – answers that were beyond the obvious and extremely complex. But the people had to be brought back home safely. The clock was ticking as the negotiations forged through; this is the story of those seven days which became the longest hijack in Indian history.

Well , not just the crux of the story is interesting, what is even more interesting is the stellar cast that has been roped in to play different characters in the web film. The cast includes stalwarts like Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Varma, Arvind Swamy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Diya Mirza, Patralekha, Yashpal Sharma, Yashpal Singh and the list goes on.

Director and co-creator of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Anubhav Sinha, said, “You are thirty thousand feet from the ground; the aircraft is in control by armed and dangerous people, and you don’t know what they want. You don’t know if they can be given what they want to spare your lives. You don’t know the lengths that people on the ground will go to, to negotiate a reasonable price for your lives. What went on inside the aircraft and outside, beyond geographical boundaries, while the aircraft landed in four different countries over one night? IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is a verisimilar account of that infamous hijack from 1999 inside the aircraft, the War Room back home in Delhi and the Negotiation Station in Kandahar. Sushil Pandey on reuniting with Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha in ‘Anek’

Sushil Pandey, best known for his roles in ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’ and ‘Jolly LLB 1 and 2,’ is currently seen alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in Anubhav Sinha’s directorial ‘Anek,’ in which he plays an undercover agent. After ‘Article 15,’ the actor opens up about his part and reuniting with Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha.

Talking about his role, he says: “I’m essaying a character named Sampat who is an undercover agent with Joshua (Ayushmann’s character in the film). Sampat is genetically from Bihar and the longest-serving agent in the North East for the government of India. He is the one who understands the reality of locals, their sufferings, life, needs, etc. Sampat’s nature underlines emotions rather than his hard-core duty, trying to balance his duty along with humanity. And finally, when the time arrives to decide between his job and friendship or job and humanity, he chooses humanity and serves in the best manner.”

He also shared his experience reuniting with Anubhav Sinha. He adds: “For me working with him is like flying in my dream world. I feel blessed and thankful to be a part of his good stories. He is an institution in himself, not only for cinema but his worldview, wisdom, poetry, literature and his sociopolitical understanding are amazing. Anubhav sir was very particular about everyone’s looks. He wanted me to look vulnerable and common at the same time. So he actually decided on my spiked hair, costumes, and specially goatee for my character.”

Speaking about working with Ayushmann he shares: “It’s my second film with Ayushmann. While shooting ‘Article 15’ in Lucknow, we gelled in just 15 minutes. He is a dear friend, a beautiful human being and an amazing co-actor to work with. While shooting for ‘Anek’, we had a great time together. We enjoyed local food, played cricket with unit members, and went to jungle safaris almost every day off our shoot in Kaziranga.”

Anubhav Sinha’s next ‘coming-of-age’ film to release on August 19

Ratna Sinha, the director of ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana,’ is directing Anubhav Sinha’s next project, a coming-of-age film. It will be released on August 19 and stars Preet Kamani, Eisha Singh, and Kavya Thapar.

Ratna Sinha says, “I am so grateful for the love that the audience gave me for my first film. It encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and attempt a film that’s unusual for me. It’s a sweet and comforting story that makes an important point. I enjoyed every bit of shooting this film and can’t wait for the world to watch it.”

The film, which is yet to be named, is produced by filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and Zee Studios through his production company, Benaras Mediaworks. The filmmakers plan to release the film on August 19, 2022. The film is very different from Ratnaa’s previous directorial effort, which was set against the backdrop of India’s civil services and focused on the struggles of a middle-class couple.

Preet Kamani, who previously appeared in Neeraj Udhwani’s Netflix Original ‘Maska,’ plays the lead in the film. It also includes Eisha Singh, who is making her big-screen debut, Kavya Thapar, and Manoj Pahwa. Himesh Reshammiya composed the music, which includes some pleasant songs. The film is a lighthearted coming-of-age story set in Dehradun and Rishikesh, as well as Pune and Mumbai.

The upcoming social drama ‘Bheed,’ directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, will be released on November 18th. Sinha revealed that the film’s subject was inspired by a nagging thought in his mind. He said, “What started with a small idea, soon metamorphosed into a screenplay that nudged me to make the film on a large canvas. As a filmmaker, I believe entertainment has the responsibility of making its audience think. I have attempted that with every film of mine and that’s what we are doing with Bheed. I have had the good fortune of working with an excellent cast.”

He further added, “Bhumi, Raj, Dia are so good in the film. My crew was an important pillar of strength, pushing me to do better each day. Bhushan Kumar, the film’s co-producer, adds “We have finally locked the release date of what I believe is one of the most important films of 2022. Anubhav is a filmmaker who wants his distinct voice to reach the length and breadth of the country. Bheed is that film, that story which has the power to get everyone talking in one voice.”

In November and December of last year, the film was shot. Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks collaborated on ‘Bheed,’ which will be released on November 18, 2022.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Friday announced the release date of Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming action-thriller Anek. The movie will be released in theaters on March 31,2022. Getting thankful for the kind of role offered, Ayushmann wrote in the Instagram post, “A character that pushed me out of my comfort zone.”

Anek will mark Ayushmann’s second alliance with Anubhav after the much-acclaimed Article 15 in 2019.

The film, which is lauded as Anubhav’s most costly project till date, was completed in March 2021 and was scheduled to release in theatres on September 17, 2021. But due to Covid, it was postponed. However, not much is known about Anek other than the fact that Ayushmann will be playing a man named Joshua and the film has been vastly shot in the North East.

The movie has been helmed by Bhushan Kumar and Anubhav Sinha under the banner of T-Series and Benaras Media Works, respectively.

Other than Anek, Ayushmann has Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and Doctor G in his kitty.

Abhinav Sinha is all set for his new socio-political drama movie named Bheed. It will be headed by Rajkumar Rao. This film marks Sinha’s reunion with Bhushan Kumar after their previous successful movie named ‘Thappad’.

The promotional campaign for the film that was available on YouTube and other official media platforms included a scene from the film where the male lead that was played by Pavail Gulati slaps his wife (Taapsee Pannu) in front of the guests during a party. The film aimed to spread awareness of domestic violence, the whole plot of the movie was based on the same. The scene was a part of the movie’s second trailer.

The film was campaigned by Dentsu Webchutney and produced by Trigger Happy Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

As per the official 2021 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity website, the movie’s trailer was reported over 400,000 times and was taken down by YouTube within 26 hours of its release.

Actress Taapsee Pannu had received several awards for the Hit movie. Among them were the ‘Best Actor (Female) award which was both a critical and commercial success.

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha shared his opinions on the current rumours around the projects of Kartik Aaryan. Anubhav said that the rumours of Kartik’s banishment from various films seem like a campaign against the actor, as producers do not usually talk about dropping actors from their projects.

Anubhav tweeted late Thursday, “And by the way… when Producers drop Actors or vice versa they don’t talk about it. It happens all the time. This campaign against Kartik Aryan seems concerted to me and very bloody unfair. I respect his quiet.” His tweet comes just days after reports asserted that Kartik was dropped from a film directed by Aanand L Rai. However, Aanand soon claimed that he never signed any film with Kartik.

Many of Kartik’s fans also acknowledged his silence over the matter. One wrote, “Well in the past we use to grab Mayapuri, stardust etc to read gossips and now we see it played out on social media. Then, most of them turned out to be just gossips or in today’s world ‘opinions’. I’m happy to see @TheAaryanKartik being quiet on these news/rumors.”

Anubhav Sinha faces outrage by SSR Supporters after his odd Tweet

Anubhav Sinha sent a mysterious tweet in reference to Sushant Singh Rajput, whose one-year death anniversary is on June 14. “SSR Season 2 coming soon,” the filmmaker stated. This tweet by the ‘Article 15’ director did not go down well with Sushant Singh Rajput’s followers, who retweeted it with angry responses.

Sushant Singh Rajput died at his Bandra home, sparking an intense investigation that included the Central Bureau of Investigation taking over the case. Simultaneously, Sushant’s death was investigated by AIIMS’s forensic medicine section, which found that it was a case of hanging and suicide. “There were no injuries on the late actor’s body other than the ones caused by hanging. We did not find any marks of struggle or scuffle on the body and clothes either,” said Dr Sudhir Gupta had told TOI, ruling out the murder probe.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister said on social media that she will go on a solitary retreat ahead of his death anniversary. Shweta Singh Kirti wrote on Twitter, “I am going on a solitary retreat for the whole month of June in the mountains. I won’t have access to internet or cell services there. Bhai’s one year of passing on will be spent in cherishing his sweet memories in silence. Though his physical body has left us almost a year back, the values he stood for still live on.”

As the superhero film Ra.One completes nine years of its release today, director Anubhav Sinha called it a “bittersweet” experience.

One of the most expensive films in Bollywood, Ra.One had flunked at the box-office. Taking to Twitter on the film’s ninth anniversary, Sinha wrote that he would love to “make another superhero film just for a catharsis.”

Ra.One’s failure was reportedly a huge setback for Shah Rukh Khan, who also produced the film under his banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. While the film was the pioneer in using extensive VFX in Bollywood, it wasn’t sufficient to impress the audience. Shah Rukh has, in fact, often said that he is willing to make another film like Ra.One.

We conducted an exclusive interview with the actor to learn about his inspirations. We asked him what he has learned from director Sinha and whether he taught the director something. Replying to the questions, Mishra said, “Maine unko kuch nahi sikhaya hai, mere paas sirf seekhne ke liye hi hai. Because unhone mujhe bohot kuch diya hai. Unhone professionally agar hum baat kare toh unhone mujhe har film me ek naya character diya hai aur jisne mujhe bohot kuch diya hai as an actor. Toh woh sab unka diya hua hai. Meri taraf se toh agar meri performance decent ho jaati hai, toh usse jo director ko ek khushi milti hai, woh milti hai.” (I haven’t taught him anything, I have only learned from him. He has given me a lot. Professionally, he gave me a new character in every film, which has helped me a lot as an actor. So, he has given me a lot. Talking about me giving him something, if I can give a decent performance, the happiness that a director gets is what I have given him.)

Talking about his relations with the director, Mishra said, “Aur itni filmon me kaam karne ke baad, main ek adhikaar se keh sakta hu ke thoda bohot main unke kareeb pahucha hu, ek vyakti ke taur pe, ek individual ke taur pe. Woh mere dil ke bht kareeb pahuche hai because of the association which we had for so many years.” (After working with him in so many films, I can rightly say that I have become close to him as a person, as an individual. He is very close to my heart because of the association which we had for so many years.)

Director Anubhav Sinha who has given us relevant movies like Article 15 and Thappad has been very vocal on his social media handles on the nepotism debate after Sushant Singh Rajput’s sad demise. Anubhav was planning to take off to Goa when director, Hansal Mehta asked Anubhav and Anurag Kashyap about forming a filmmakers’ club.

After this comment, Anubhav was extremely disheartened and took to his Twitter account to give a big revelation, he said he is going to back out from Bollywood. He expressed without the amount of hate being spread in the industry.

Year 2020 has been one of the worst years for the Bollywood industry. On July 17, industry has suffered yet another loss as the director Rajat Mukherjee passes away. According to the reports of Filminformation.com, Rajat was suffering from kidney problems due to which he was admitted to the hospital. His death happened due to failure of kidney and infection in the lungs.

Actor,Priyanka Chopra, has signed a multimillion dollar management deal with Amazon for television content and producer Anubhav Sinha is glad.

On Tuesday, he shared a tweet about how she oversaw extraordinary accomplishment in her profession in spite of others’ endeavor to pull her down. Priyanka has expressed gratitude toward him for his help.

Anubhav Sinha, tweeted, “I am so reminded of a Bombay Time front page article that wrote her off saying how NO ONE would touch her from a barge pole. Yeah… No one can,”

Priyanka replied saying that, “ Thappad nahi.. kaam se maaro(Hit them with your work, not with slaps).. lol. Thank you @anubhavsinha for the support.”

Priyanka’s fans also joined Anubhav Sinha in praising their idol, offering support through tweets such as, “Can’t imagine what it must feel like to become a trailblazer against all the odds. According to Variety, a comprehensive gathering with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke was what prompted the principal look bargain. Priyanka communicated her fervor over the arrangement with a post on Instagram, writing, “Looking ahead, we already have so much on our slate! Big thank you to @jsalke (Jennifer Salke) and her team at Amazon for being such great partners, and for sharing in the belief that talent and good content knows no boundaries.”

She clarified how being both an actor,and producer,she generally longed for an open stage, where ability from over the globe meets up to make incredible substance, regardless of language and geography.

Priyanka currently has two television projects lined up with Amazon. One is Sangeet, an unscripted series co-produced with husband Nick Jonas.

It is based on the Indian pre-wedding tradition, and how families of the bride and groom compete against each other in singing and dancing.

Bollywood’s most talented actor, Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise took place on 14th June 2020 by a suicide. His suicide news sent shockwaves in Bollywood. According to the reports, Sushant was under depression since last 6 months. The actor took some anti-depressants for short period of time. Unfortunately, when things went out of his control, actor lost control over his mental being and chose to end it all himself.

However, this sudden demise of actor inadvertently gave rise to several tough questions for Bollywood. Thappad director Anubhav Sinha, producer Nikhil Dwivedi and hair stylist Sapna Bhavnani held a mirror in front of the glamour industry biggies and questioned their way of working.

These harsh words were taken by author and screenplay writer Mushtaq Shiekh who said: “Totally agree with you Nikhil. The hypocrisy stinks..”

2020 is getting worse with each passing day. Newspapers are filled with tragedies that are taking place and it is taking a toll on the public mental and physical health as well. First, Coronavirus, then Amphan cyclone, locust attack in over five states and now the Delhi-NCR Earthquake.

Yesterday Delhi felt the tremors due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on a Richter scale as suggested by the National Seismology Centre (NSC). The epicentre for the earthquake was Rohtak and Haryana but Delhi also felt the tremors. Celebrities who were present in Delhi, took to their twitter account to post their concern and confusion over the trembling they felt.

From Sonam Kapoor to Himansh Kohli, who recently moved from Mumbai to Delhi, Thappad director Anubhav Sinha, among others tweeted. While Vivek Oberoi expressed his worries over this bad year, Meera Chopra keeps her count on the number of times earthquakes hit the city. Check out the tweets.
