Annu Kapoor turns a year older today, i.e. 20th February and we can’t stop admiring over this artists’s dialogue delivery, acting and talent.

Annu Kapoor has left everyone in awe with his great acting skills. Though, he hasn’t performed much lead roles, but he has managed to prove himself and gain immense love and support from fans and followers.

Here are some facts that you might not know about him:

Annu Kapoor’s father used to run a theatre company and he asked Kapoor to join him there. The actor decided to join his father and learnt acting from there.

Annu Kapoor has also had tough situations as the family went through financial crisis. Thus, the actor couldn’t pursue education long enough.

The actor opened up, ” Life was very tough. I then ran a tea stall, sold churan ke note for a while, ran a fire cracker shop with just 42, post which I started selling lottery tickets, when my babuji said, ‘If there is nothing else happening, join my company.’ And I joined his theatre company.”

Annu Kapoor’s real name was Anil Kapoor which lead to confusions in the industry. Some people of the industry suggested the actor to change his name to Annu as one time he received a wrong cheque of Anil Kapoor.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is recovering from a fractured toe; he also wishes going back to the old days when he could rock any outfit. Actor showed a collage of two photoshopped images in two different appearances. He captioned it on his varified Instagram account, “Would be so nice to be back to such days .. but…”

The first image displays him in a black, fitted, side-buttoned blazer and striped trousers in a complementing shade, as he walks with a stick for some added drama. Another one shows him in a vibrant look – a camouflage tee paired with a vibratory beach theme trousers and casual shoes. Ronit Roy leaves a comment over there, “My life is centered around those days Amit ji… my entire existence is a sum total of THOSE days.” The post brimmed over with 3 lakh above likes and hundreds of comments within a few hours.

Bollywood king Amitabh Bachchan is seen in a traditional avatar in accordance with the upcoming Navratri festival. He rejected his trademark suits for a white kurta pyjama paired with Nehru jacket. Annu Kapoor is one actor who has been very vocal about his opinions about celebrities partying and posting holiday pictures on their social media, he says it is just like wiping salt into the sufferings of COVID patients and their families.

In an interview with ETimes the senior actor spoke at length about his opinion on people who are boasting their gala times on social media and in a way rubbing their privileges on the face of people who are suffering in these testing times.

Here are the excerpts from the conversation that transpired:

Interviewer: “You put up a strong post criticising stars going on holidays and then putting up pictures from the Maldives…”

Annu Kapoor: “The Maldives or wherever! It was a humble appeal to the rich and famous from all walks of life! It was not restricted to actors only. I have nothing against anyone’s wealth, luxuries, or lifestyles, but the display of the exuberance of the privileged ones was in a bad taste. The ongoing brutal pandemic has devastated the whole world, millions of lives have been lost, people have been deprived of basic amenities. I hope I am driving my point home. This act of putting up pictures is like having a scrumptious meal in front of hungry people.”

Interviewer: “Are you saying it is equivalent to rubbing salt into the wounds of COVID-affected patients and their families?”

Annu Kapoor: “Yes. It is just like that.”

Interviewer: “Why do you term the holiday pictures as ‘show-off’?”

Annu Kapoor: “They should keep these pictures to themselves. The album title can be: Sweet Memories During The Catastrophe.”

Interviewer: “People lauded you on the internet for this opinion. Is the appreciation still pouring in?”

Annu Kapoor: “I do not want to dwell on this numbers game. Sensationalism always attracts people as they have to vent out their frustration and anger. I have posted many tweets with much more social significance but ironically they hardly got noticed.”

Interviewer: “You are working with many young actors. Aren’t you burning bridges with them when you say such things?”

Annu Kapoor: “I am not afraid of anyone. I have been surviving with grace and dignity in this industry for the last 39 years. I have struggled hard and I am working harder and harder every day. I have accepted that God has carved out a different plan for me. Nevertheless, I am blessed in such a way that I never lose my sense of rationale and always proceed with righteousness and high moral values.”

Interviewer: “How did this all begin at your end?”

Annu Kapoor: “I may not be a film or TV buff but I am a well-informed individual. I know many, many more things about many people from this country. Remember that film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’? (laughs). On a serious note, someone brought it to my notice asking ‘Kya kar rahe hain ye log?’ We tend to get surrounded by people who either become sycophants and shower endless praises on you or those who are critical about you and abuse you at the drop of a hat. Such extremity is definitely not welcome.”

Interviewer: “Are you hinting that the sycophancy that stars get tends to blind them to the current situation?”

Annu Kapoor: “Sycophancy and hatred are two sides of the same coin. Both rob you of your ability to think correctly; you lose your perspective and rationale.”

Annu Kapoor lashes out on celebs holidaying amid pandemic, ‘Accha nahi lagta’

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor said that he is having no objection to celebrities going on a holiday, he is opposed to them flaunting it on social media.

Last month, Annu tweeted, “I humbly appeal to rich and famous from all walks of life and media not to post their pictures vacationing at exotic locations while the most of the world suffers with pandemic. Kisi ko jalaa ke majloomon ki baddua kyun lena (Why should you attract the curse of the downtrodden by making them jealous)?”

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Annu said that he is not in any way stopping those who have the means to go on a holiday from going on one. However, displaying it to the world is in bad taste, he added.

“Aap bilkul bhukhe ke saamne 56 bhog ki thaali leke kha rahe ho yaar! Maalum hai aap afford kar sakte ho, maalum hai aap paisewale ho, maalum hai khubsoorat badan hai aapka. Aur iske alawa aur kya numaish kar sakte ho? Achcha nahi lagta. Ek German term hai – ‘kitsch’ (It is like eating a lavish meal in front of people who are starving. We know you are rich and can afford it, we know you have a beautiful body. What else can you be showing? It doesn’t look good. There is a German term called ‘kitsch’). It means art in bad taste,” he said, adding that celebrities should be ‘sensitive’ and show some ‘empathy’.

Ekta Kapoor’s most awaited web series Paurashpur, a period drama stars Shilpa Shinde, Shaheer Sheikh, Milind Soman and Annu Kapoor as lead roles.

Bigg Boss 11 winner Shilpa Shinde’s digital debut project titled Paurashpur will be all about Ekta Kapoor’s TV ventures. Shaheer Sheikh, TV’s heartthrob, will also make his debut in this web series. He recently wrapped up shooting for Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. The web series backed by Ekta Kapoor, is directed by Sachindra Vats and produced by Jaasvand Entertainment. The web series is likely to be released in February 2021.

Shilpa Shinde, famous for the television show- ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai’, will be seen in a ‘Goddess’ attire with a strong aura. She is all decked up from head to toe, looking nothing less than a ‘Maharani’. The promo starts with the voice over of actor Annu Kapoor, and his entrance, giving a brief understanding about Shilpa’s character in the series. In the promo video, we can hear actor Annu Kapoor’s voice over saying, “Kisi dardman ke kaam aa, Kisi dubhte ko uchaal de; Ye nigahe naaz ki mastiya, Kisi badnaseeb pe taal de”

ALT Balaji and Zee 5 announced that the shoot begins as ALT Balaji posted on Instagram and informed their fans about the web series. They captioned the post as, “Shoot begins of a magnum opus #Paurashpur, a period drama! A story of kingdoms, gender power struggles and politics. Stay tuned to #ALTBalaji to know more!”

Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari trailer : Dijlit Dosanjh vs Manoj Bajpayee, who will win the fight?

The trailer of Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh-starrer Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is finally out. Fans were excited to see what Diljit Dosanjh can deliver in Bollywood.

The trailer starts with setting up the plot in Bombay in the year 1995. Suraj Singh, played by Diljit, introduces us to his life and how his family wants him to marry. With this motive, the whole family tends to search for an ‘ideal’ bride. In the process, one family reveals pictures of Suraj drinking beer. With so many rejections due to his personality, Suraj couldn’t accept the fact that he was rejected because of drinking beer. He then decides to find the one who clicked the picture. This is where, Madhu Mangal Rane, a detective whose main motive is to break marriages walk in. Played by Manoj Bajpayee, one will witness his versatility as he portrays different characters.

The real twist comes in when Suraj finds out that Mangal has a sister, played by Fatima Sana Sheikh and then he moves forward to take revenge by making her fall in love with him.
Now, the real question is, who will win between the two?

The trailer is full of comedy scenes and will tickle your funny bone.

The film directed by Abhishek Sharma and will promise a laugh riot with dynamic cast. The story has been penned by Shokhi Banerjee, while the dialogues and screenplay are by Rohan Shankar.
