Animal turned out to be one of the big releases this 2023, creating a lot of social media frenzy with debates among both audiences and critics over the film by Sandeep Reddy Vanga for direction, music, technical at par excellence performances, and a few others who have panned it for being too violent, on toxic masculinity.

Animal had recently been viewed by Farhan Akhtar. In an interview with Faye D’Souza, he discussed the movie and the approach by its director and mentioned superb performance by Ranbir, really strong casting and the background score was very interesting, but to the counter question if he would have made the movie, his response was that he wouldn’t have, for he didn’t connect with his movie’s idea. The director of Dil Dhadakne Do also gave his remarks that the film did not have much impact on him and he would not recommend it to others.

However, he did appreciate Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s effort to keep up with the project as nothing short of solid. He also said that ultimately it was a matter of choice as to what the people wanted to watch, and he didn’t feel that was any of his business to tell them.

Recently, Kangana Ranaut too slammed the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, she spilled her misgiving about the film. As per her, the movie created quite an uproar at the box office and yet seemed to revel in the very patriarchal aspects. Kangana wonders why people clap when men are seen holding axes and killing others for no reason as if there were no law and order in the land. Men are shown carrying machine guns without any aftermath of their actions.

Going further, Queen movie actress criticised Animal, saying the film showed a society devoid of the rule of law where dead bodies were heaped and shown for no reason. She explained that the movie seems to glorify irresponsible behavior, like using drugs, and attracts audiences who would like such content. “Bas masti main hai. Drugs karke mast hain,” said the actress.

Apart from Ranbir, it also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri. They have already announced a sequel titled Animal Park.

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal hit the theatres in December 2023 and it turned out to be the massive blockbuster. The movie was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and also featured Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in key roles. Animal received mixed reaction from the audience as some section of it loved every bit of it, while others bashed it for glorifying violence and misogyny. However, one thing is pretty clear that it is being discussed heavily, as even now it is making it to the news.

Recently, a deleted scene from the movie has surfaced online. The viral footage features heavily drunk Ranbir, pours himself another drink, and is on a plane. He walks towards the cockpit and asks the pilot to get up and he flies the plane himself, with the song ‘Papa Meri Jaan’ playing in the background.

The scene was supposed to be featured in the film after the sequence of Ranbir’s character Ranvijay Singh killing his brother-in-law. A fan shared the clip on X and claimed that the scene should have the final cut. Other fans agreed that it shouldn’t have been killed.

Aalim Hakim, a well-known hairstylist, posted a series of images and a commentary featuring Ranbir on his Instagram account on Thursday.

They’re saying children are walking out of the theatres in tears, high school girls are feeling unsafe; they should not be watching the film, it’s rated A.” In a separate interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker said that poor reviews don’t affect his writing. According to him, certain critics have a tendency to over-analyse films and extract ‘wrong interpretations’.

I think the success, and acceptance of Animal is game-changing. The conviction is something that I want to have.”

Mansi Taxak claimed that Bobby Deol’s character was acting in an “unpredictable” manner following his brother’s death, and she appeared to justify the scene of marital rape in her movie Animal. During an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Mansi, who portrayed one of Bobby’s three wives, Abrar Haque, the antagonist in the Ranbir Kapoor film, addressed the scene where her character is raped by her husband, Bobby.

She said, “It is shocking, of course. Nobody expects their wedding to end that way. When the wedding sequence starts, if you see the lights and the way the art was done, it is beautiful. On Saturday, Alia took to her social media account and applauded her darling husband Ranbir for his impeccable performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial.

PVR and INOX have in total sold over 1,04,000 tickets of Animal while Cinepolis has made a sale of 24,000 tickets as of now.
