World’s first and only hospital train stationed in Assam, India
The Indian Ministry of Railways recently shared few of the pictures of World’s first and India’s only hospital train ‘Lifeline Express’ on social media. The train is currently stationed in Badarpur, Assam and is treating patients free of cost.
The hospital train Lifeline express or ‘Jeevan Rekha Express’ is equipped with 2 modern operation theatres, 5 operating tables and other necessary facilities consisting of seven coaches.
The hospital-on-wheels began on July 16, 1991, and is running throughout the length and breadth of India. During its three decades of journey, the train has camped at different parts of the country and served millions of poor with doorstep treatment. This initiative was in collaboration between the Impact India Foundation (IIF), Indian Railways (IR) and the Health Ministry.
This will be 210th project of Lifeline express, which will begin from January 5 of the new year and will continue till January 24.
