Veteran Journo Mabu Gopal Reddy dies of heart attack after accident at Tirumala


Veteran Journalist Mabu Gopal Reddy died of a heart attack after he met with an accident on the down Ghat Road in Tirumala on Wednesday night.

Reddy (77) was returning from Tirumala on his two-wheeler after covering the celestial ride of Lord on Hamsa Vahanam around the mada streets, as part of the second day Annual Brahmotsavam.

His two-wheeler was hit by a vehicle at a curve on the down Ghat Road injuring his two legs. In a state of shock after the accident, he suffered a heart attack, police said.

Reddy was rushed to Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General hospital here in an ambulance where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President N Chandrababu Naidu tweeted ‘Shocked to know that a Senior Journalist and my dear friend Mabu Gopal Reddy, who went to cover Tirumala Brahmotsavalu, died in a Road Accident.

The death of Gopal Reddy, a warrior of the pen who always questioned the government and leaders on the problems of the people of Tirupati, is a great loss to the world of Journalism.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman Y V Subba Reddy and Executive Officer A V Dharma Reddy also condoled the sad demise of Gopal Reddy.

They telephoned his bereaved family members and expressed their sympathies.
